We were quite hungry and this restaurant was everything we were hoping for. We started with a delicious tapas appetizer and bread. They were serving a halibut special that three of us got and it did not disappoint. One person in our group ordered the fish and chips served on top of mushy peas and was also very pleased. There was a special dessert of rhubarb soup with white chocolate mousse that two girls ordered and it was quite nice as well. The service was great and the staff was very friendly. It is the perfect starting and ending point for your hike up to Pulpit Rock. The main building is the hotel lodge where every room has a private bath. Another smaller building is the hostel where the rooms have shared bathrooms. The rooms were alright. Definitely, not fancy. Although, WiFi was included...the signal was not very good inside our room. Had to go down to the lounge area or lobby area in order to use it. Bed wasn't the best, but I still slept well. Breakfast was included with our accommodation, and the food was pretty good. We also tried their restaurant for dinner. Their were only a few entree choices, but all were very good. The Norwegian Meatball entree was my favorite. Would I stay here again? Yup! We've already crossed Preikestolen off our bucket list, but I recommend staying at this lodge when you are in this part of Norway.

Check-in and check-out was a breeze, they give you a key tied to a wooden knob/plank with your room number. The location is great as you are right by Pulpit Rock, but there are a variety of activities you can do on-site. One of the best things here was the free breakfast. I stayed there the entire time, people watching and trying out all the unique foods from the area. I also had lunch here as well, which was reasonably priced considering the price of food everywhere else in Norway.

I had a room facing the lake, so a nice view, but it did get a bit noisy on Friday/Saturday night with nightlife noise. The rooms seem recently updated; the bed was comfy with a nice table and seating area. The bathroom is bigger than your typical "European" style bathroom, which was a welcome change! Front desk employees were professional and friendly. Room service is available from the nice restaurant downstairs, Fire Lake. Breakfast is additional cost, but it is a huge spread and worth it in my opinion. All in all, certainly would stay here again if I am ever back in the area!

It's the cheapest way to get accommodation in Norway, short of Couch Surfing. I was expecting a bed in a 6 person dormitory but to my surprise got my own room, not too shabby and not bad. It has a private bathroom and a single bed, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel isn't the newest act in town, in fact the area seems like a remnant of World War 2 - unpaved streets and worn out buildings...but one can't complain considering I got a 3 start hotel for the price of a hostel. As with most Hosteling International hostels, breakfast is free. And here was another excellent surprise, the breakfast here is by far the best offering out of all the hostels I've been to! Eggs, bacon, cheeses, fruit, make your own waffles, assorted fresh breads, canned mackerel, pickled fish, coffee, the list goes on and on and on. Considering the average price for a Norwegian lunch is somewhere in the neighborhood of $25-35 this Hostel is a steal for $45/night!

Our room was nice and clean! It was a great treat to have a comfy bed after traveling for the past 7 days and recharge before our Kjeragbolten hike! The breakfast was AMAZING! It was actually the best I had since I started traveling. They even a section of food to pack for hikers. Love Scandinavian breakfast. Parking was tough though. If parking on the street, make sure you read the signs. Otherwise, there's a parking garage about a block away from the hotel.
