I love me a good community market and Byron Bay is home to one of the best. Just an excellent vibe, huge variety of stalls, some great buskers performing in the shade and an interesting mix of hippie food and incense sellers.
You'll find some very interesting handiwork if you need some souveniers, however the food stuffs here really steal the show. Local honey and macadamias, the Byron Bay Chilli Factory and Byron Bay Cookie Factory (not THOSE cookies, you'll have to ask one of the buskers to share theirs), lots of little cake and bakery stalls as well. Be prepared to ditch the diet for the day.
A word of warning, the markets are the main attraction on a Sunday and so parking can be an absolute nightmare, better off leaving the car at the holiday bungalow and walking, it's really not very far from the town centre of main beach. read more
