First off, I would like to say that I never write reviews for anything, ever, but I had to for Beata. I was completely and utterly shocked by how good of a job she did and how she went above and beyond for us. (If you read nothing else, read the third to last paragraph.) My fiance and I are overjoyed with our engagement pictures, and I feel SO lucky to have found her to take them. I can't say enough good things about her, and if you're thinking about contacting her, do it. Really. So, on to the review... I first emailed Beata on May 10 (about 13 months before our planned wedding date) about an engagement session and wedding photos. She emailed us back promptly (even though she was in the middle of an emergency evacuation due to the fires) and answered all of our questions professionally. I wanted someone who was talented and experienced, and my fiancé was most interested in getting someone who was easygoing and amiable. He's been to way more weddings than I have, and he says he's seen photographers yelling at or otherwise being rude to the guests. Definitely not what we wanted. But anyway, we met Beata for coffee, and we knew pretty much immediately that we wanted to have her for the wedding and engagement session. She is so easygoing and generally just a joy to be around. So we made an appointment for the engagement photos for the next week at Torrey Pines and the Meditation Gardens. The next week rolled around, and she showed up early with Tomasz, her assistant and (unbeknownst to us at the time) a professional videographer. (I'm sure you can figure out why he was there with that last bit of info, but we didn't think anything of it.) We trekked around TP and the meditation gardens. It's actually surprisingly tiring getting your picture taken! Another bonus of Beata being personable is that she's easy to work with. She made it really fun! Anyway, I was very pleased with the preview of the pictures that she sent us (again, very promptly), and we were so ecstatic with the pictures after we got them. She edited them quickly, AND they looked perfect. Oh, and in one of her emails to us, she included a link to a "surprise." I saw it was to a video website and thought, "No. There is no way she could possibly be this awesome of a photographer." But she is, you guys. She SURPRISED US by ***SENDING US A VIDEO OF OUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION***. Who does that?! You could read through every review of every photographer in San Diego (which I pretty much did while doing wedding research) and not find that. I've never even HEARD of that happening to anyone. It was amazing. We are so over the moon. I got to send it to everyone, and they were overjoyed too. My sister CRIED after watching this video. That's how good it was. Amazing. I am so thankful and I feel so fortunate to have picked Beata. A surprise AND stunningly beautiful pictures. It doesn't get better than that. And personally, I think the photos are one of the most important parts of the wedding. Once they're done, they're done. You can't re-do them or fix them at the last minute, and they're the best way to remember the wedding. So, it was really important to me to pick someone that I could trust to do a great job, and Beata is PERFECT.
