She came to our home in Oakland on a week night to meet with us and was very responsive with our questions, both in person and through e-mail. Alisa was very interested in learning about the types of pictures we would want to take, where we would want to take them, and our photography style. We did not end up hiring her, but I would have felt comfortable doing so. We just found someone that we liked a little bit more. I would definitely recommend her to friends looking for wedding photographers.

When I first met with them, I was blown away with their expertise, professionalism and personalities. I knew right then and there that I HAD TO HAVE THEM! So what did I do? Booked them right on the spot to ensure my day was going to be photographed by Annabella. Our first photo shoot encounter was during our engagement shoot and this is where my new appreciation for photographers went through the roof. We did it in mid March and it was raining and pouring. We were a little hesitant on doing it in that weather but Jennifer and Alisa persuaded us to just go out there and have fun with the rain. And that is EXACTLY what we did. We grabbed our rain boots and umbrellas an hit the road. Ramon and I looked FANTASTIC in the pictures! Although, I can't say the same for the people "behind the scenes". Jennifer and Alisa were decked out in rain gear from head to toe and their cameras were covered in plastic. While we were under an overhang, they were in the pouring rain trying to get the perfect shot. And to say the least... mission accomplished. I was ecstatic when our images came back. I was so happy we did it in the rain. Each and every shot seemed so much more intimate and very artistic. Fast forward a year.... a few weeks leading up to our wedding.... Jennifer and I were in close contact. She made a point to make sure she understood my vision and hopes for my wedding day photos. She jotted down my "MUST TAKE" photos. I really appreciated this. It showed me she cared to meet all my expectations. It's the little things like this that make a vendor stand out. Fast forward to my wedding day! YAY! =) Perfect, Perfect, Perfect. They were there on time. They made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. All my must haves were taken. I loooved how every time I looked in a different direction, I saw either Jennifer or Alisa shooting away.... but my favorite part about that was that they were very discrete about it. No one really noticed them and that is a big plus in my book! They were there for me from the very beginning to the very end. A few weeks later, they sent me their images and everyone was BLOWN AWAY! They captured exactly what I wanted and so much more. Not only do their photos speak for itself, but just who they are as a person. During the planning process, they went out of their way to build a friendship and to really get to know us. This played a huge role in how comfortable we were in front of the camera on our wedding day because we had previously established that relationship. Every picture was so natural. She was within our price range even her top package was reasonable (but now she raised her prices, so sorry to those who are about to book her) and her photography style is what we're looking for - photojournalistic. We interviewed more than 15 photographers and was about to hire another one (to make a long story short, we're glad we didn't get him). When that didn't turn out well, we kept looking for weeks for another photographer until we came across Cate's website. We saw, we loved and we immediately booked a meeting with her. We were a little disappointed that she didn't bring any albums or pictures of her work. She did answer all our questions and concerns. We also asked if she accepted credit card and she said "yes, thru paypal". Not sure if she set up Paypal yet or if she accepts credit card now but we ended up having to pay her via check for her services. So came the time we had to take our engagement pictures (part of the package), we mentioned that we wanted some garden and beach scenes. She was ok with that and suggested San Francisco. It was fine with us because we know there's alot of great places there. We went to the Japanese Friendship Garden in SF but ended up spending most of our time there. We didn't have enough time for the beach pictures because we were an hour late for her photo shoot so I guess we couldn't blame her for wanting to go home. We would have wanted some beach shots. But she was truly easy and fun to work with and always has great ideas for our shots. July 2008 - Wedding day came and Cate was there on time. She started taking pictures and got alot of great shots of me in my room. I didn't get alot of pictures with my girls because my girls weren't where they're suppose to be. But throughout the wedding, Cate got alot of great shots that told the story of our wedding day. She has a great eye for photography and captures alot of the silliest and best moments of our wedding day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Months later after the wedding: Cate sent us a sneak peak of our wedding pictures a few days after the wedding. After a couple of weeks, I emailed her to provide us something from our wedding. She immediately sent us a link to our pictures including a slideshow of our wedding. I was ecstatic because I finally have a link to send to my family (who's been bugging me for weeks). After a few weeks, we finally picked out 100 out of 1000 pictures for our album. Sent that to Cate and got a preview of the album. A few weeks later she was able to send us the DVD of our pictures and wedding album. I had to email her several times for issues with our pictures and finally she was able to complete everything in our package by January '09. We didn't get the hard bound, flush-mount album with nice, thick, vibrant pages and pictures we thought was a part of the package. Instead, we got one of those albums that was ordered from Apple. She did give us additional albums to compensate the wait on our album and photo-DVD but it would be nice if Cate shows her clients the album type and photos she took. It would also be nice if Cate offers the coffee-table style album.

Her photos look like a professional photographer just happened to stroll through your home to capture the most perfect images while you were just playing with your child like any old day. We actually also did some posed studio portraits with another photographer, which were beautiful, but it was Heather who really captured my baby the way I think of him. Every image looked just like him, but at his absolute cutest. I've posted a small sampling above, but I loved so many, it was really hard to choose! ---- Original Review: No boring, stiff, or predictable photos here. Your kids grow and change so quickly, but Heather specializes in capturing those priceless, unexpected moments that come and go in the blink of an eye. Each child's true and unique personality really shines through in every image. She has fantastic energy and she's a mom herself, so she really gets how to work with kids. She captures the big picture stuff and the fine grain details beautifully. As a designer, I find her work extremely impressive. Even before processing, her photos are gorgeous. I know that takes both talent and skill. Irja (sadly) was not our wedding photographer. In fact, we didn't even meet Irja until after our wedding. We were pretty dissatisfied with our wedding photographer who completely forgot many standard wedding shots and specific things I had asked for. (I mean, what kind of photographer forgets to take photos of the reception space when the venue is the de Young museum?) Anyway, it turns out that our caterer had hired Irja for a couple hours to document the event design. I believe Irja was at the event until the cocktail hour. I remember being upset about how much our wedding photographer had missed and was ecstatic when I saw the 60 or so photos Irja had taken. Honestly, I think that the most beautiful photos from our wedding are the event shots that Irja took. I had never met Irja before, but she had captured all the custom event/graphic design elements exactly how I had envisioned. She saw what was right there in front of her and ran with it. If it wasn't for Irja, we wouldn't even have a single photo of our 5-tier wedding cake in all its glory! We purchased around 40 high resolution files from Irja at very reasonable prices. I had all kinds of photo/wedding related questions for Irja. She is extremely passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to all things related to photography and weddings. The difference between Irja and our wedding photographer was shocking, which ultimately made us decide to book a Valentine's Day lifestyle session with her. This 2-3 hour session was very reasonably priced. I chopped off most of my wedding gown, turning it into a short bubble dress for our photo shoot. We spent a couple hours at the Legion of Honor and got some spectacular shots. Just based on the venue and how we were dressed, she knew exactly what vibe we were going for. Irja made us feel and look like supermodels! She was also kind enough to help us take photos of our invitations, jewelry, shoes, etc - basic things that our wedding photographer either did not include or captured very poorly. We've gotten so many compliments on our lifestyle photos. Also, I'd like to point out that Irja was 6+ months pregnant when we worked with her at the Legion. The belly may have slowed her down, but she still had so much positive energy and was such a pleasure to work with. If Irja had been our wedding photographer, I'm sure she would had taken stunning photos of our wedding. Personality wise, our families and wedding party would have loved her. I have received so many compliments on my new picture and I feel like she was really able to capture me.Working with Jung was great preparation for another commercial shoot that i had to do most recently. The camera man and the creative director both commented how easy I was in front of the camera. It made me laugh because it wasn't natural at first. I owe all of my coaching to Jung for teaching me how to pose and move in front of the camera. I also commissioned Jung to photograph me in my practice, working with clients. I wanted to more documentary style photos for marketing purposes so potential clients can see my space and imagine themselves receiving care from me. Jung provided me with so many great images that I've been using on Instagram and my blog.
