Beyond the front display cases and servings of chocolates and sandwiches and pastries, in back (as well as up a flight) there's a large seating area where you can do a sit-down meal. The menu is multi-lingual and massive, and focused mostly on Swiss/German sorts of dishes. The food itself was decently good -- not life-changing, but filling. The hot chocolate and coffee drinks were, in fact, great, if pricey. (It's San Moritz, even in low season -- it's going to be pricey.) Service was harried but polite. Views from the window over the lake and to the mountains were nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to return here, but I wouldn't turn down the suggestion to go in again, should I ever again visit San Moritz.

Have to say--the pastries were pretty average (nothing wrong with them--they were tasty, but…read morenothing out of this world), but the cappuccino was probably one of the best I've had so far (with a touch of cocoa powder). The ambiance of the seating area is cozy, with lots of windows/nice views. The room can get a little warm, which is nice on a cool day! Definitely check out while in St Moritz.

Located just off of the marathon trail, there is no good reason not to stop here for lunch on your way to Maloja or to visit the nearby church. Be forewarned, it's kind of a local hot spot, so you may have to wait a minute or two for a table, but your wait will be well worthwhile. The desserts include a variety of regional and local specialties, including seasonal desserts.

My boyfriend and I both ordered the kleine Frühstück with 2 Spiegeleier. The small breakfast comes with 2 choices of bread (we chose 2 gipfeli) and a choice of coffee/espresso or Milchkaffee. The gipfeli were very good so if you do come for a visit I suggest getting these. My boyfriend also liked his fresh squeezed orange juice. Depending on how you like your eggs, because maybe some like this...the eggs were cooked at a too high temperature and were hard underneath; although luckily still somewhat liquid in the middle. Big sized butters served with the gipfeli (a plus!) but only cheap foil Hero brand jams. The milchkaffee was a bitter coffee with burned milk. If any of you are cappuccino/latte connoisseurs you will know what I mean ;) When the milk is heated too much it destroys the creamy taste and the coffee is bitter.
