He came out the night before and gave my wife every indication that he planned to be here the next day to cut the tree down. Wednesday morning came and he never came. He never showed up nor did he call. He didn't have enough respect for me, as a customer, to call and tell me he couldn't handle the work. As a business owner I would never blowoff a customer. Chad disagreed and pointed to the fine print stating it's the homeowner's responsibility to inform them. Here's how I see it: * Homeowner's part: Yes, it's our responsibility to mention private underground lines, but most homeowners don't think of things like pet fences unless they're asked. * Contractor's part: As professionals doing below-surface work, it's standard due diligence to ask about buried systems that won't be marked by 811. Not asking at all shows a lack of care, and they've likely run into this scenario before. In my opinion, this was a shared responsibility, not solely mine. A reasonable contractor would at least acknowledge the mistake and possibly offer to help with repairs, especially if the fix is minor. Overall: 2 stars -- Some good, some bad, but the post work communication left a sour taste.
