Tim was who we dealt with at first because he's the finance manager and my husband was beyond impressed with how he handled his business! Not only that but our saleslady (Fern) was absolutely AMAZING! Most salesman are pushing and are just trying to make a sale but this wasn't the case at all. Saturday morning our a/c went out and it was HOT. We were at Fred's Monday morning where he took…read moretime to diagnose our problem right then and there. Recommended replacing and told us it was self contained and could not be repaired. Our plans were fixed that we had to leave the area that morning so he recommended a place near our destination. We called and their response was " we will fit you in when we can" and we had heard those horror stories. Fred told us he could have the part delivered Thur and replaced in an hour and we could stay in a nearby state park. We paid a deposit on the new unit said we would be back Th at 12. ( Fred also said the truck came in about noon and he would install it then). We pulled in at 12:10 and the truck arrived about 12:30. Fred had ordered LOTS of parts for his on going jobs. They actually did not start work until 1:25 as (1) the guys had left at 11:30 on Lowes-run and (2) the need to move rigs around so they could get to the work. But once they started, it was professional, efficient and competent. New unit right out of the box and 25 minutes later they were testing it. (And almost $300 less than the other people had quoted) It's been 3 days and it working better than ever. As our a/c was 4 years old and the internet said the life span was 3-5, we are pleased. Why 4 and not 5 stars: Fred's communication left a lot to be desired. He is clearly a rural business where little details don't matter as much. He said he could install (immediately?) when it arrived (12:30- not 12) but then he said "after lunch" which turned out to be 90 min after his first estimate. And I'm pretty sure he quoted a price which was $125 less but he said the other did not include the labor. Questionable at the least. But if you ignore these two fairly little problems, Fred was ideal. If you are in the Waycross area, Fred's is clearly a good diagnostician and repair shop. We were also impressed by the number of local people who came in and out for work.
