If ever there was a shop that truly had its heart in the right place and really served its…read morecommunity, this is it. The lovely people that run this place not only sell delicious fresh food, they clearly live it. Many times have I walked past and been tempted to walk in just for a chat. The nutritional content of food, the local political and cultural climates - they know it all! They strive incredibly hard to keep their whole and ethical food local, organic certified and chemical free. They even have their own farm nearby which, especially in the summer months, keeps their shelves fully stocked. Off to one side they have an extensive collection of really very good for you teas and ointments, a wide vegan and gluten-free selection and a constant yet dynamic choice of quiche, pasties and cakes for sale at the till. The whole experience is sensitively thought out and as a customer, very enjoyable.

In my opinion Radford Mill Farm Shop is excessively expensive. Yes, it serves fantastic food, but…read morethe price tag always makes me wince before i hand over my hard earned cash. For this reason I always limit my spending to speciality foods that I can't get elsewhere. For more generic items I usually go to either Harvest or Scoopaway, with the latter being my preferred option. I've eaten in the small cafe once (essentially a few tables clustered together in a small area away from the serving area). Again expensive, and a little dark for my liking, the cafe never seems to see much custom. It does however contain a phenomenal amount of reading material and flyers... and is a really quiet place to take a break from the rat race and contemplate your navel for a while.

Taste Of Napoli

Taste of Napoli Review…read more The taste of Napoli is an Italian deli and cafe tucked away in one of the back streets of Bristol city centre. Situated opposite Debenhams it hasn't been open long. I was in town for a meeting so I thought I'd pop in for a quick bite to eat. First impressions where good. This small deli can only host about a dozen or so people at the front of its restaurant. There is additional seating upstairs to which I took advantage of. However there is no lift or escalator so this isn't a good sign for anyone with walking difficulties or is in a wheelchair. Having said that after about five minutes of me taking my seat upstairs someone hobbled in on crutches so it can be done? The menu is quite extensive, boasting a whole host of classic Italian combinations. Sausage and peppers, pizza slices, fresh cannolis arancini balls, panini's and calzones. The food options are split over several laminated menu cards which is a bit excessive. I feel that all items could be placed on one menu in a traditional book format but that's is just me being picky. You have to place your order and pay at the counter, there is no table service as such. I plumped for their Italian sausage panini aptly called 'The Napoli'. It consisted of Italian sausage, roasted herb potatoes and mozzarella cheese. Baked in a fresh roll this was quite a big sandwich. The sausages where lovely. Perfectly seasoned and not too overpowering. The cheese again was a treat and worked well. The potatoes on the other hand where disappointing. Slightly underdone and completely tasteless. Definitely not roasted. I mean they may have been shown the inside of an oven but that's about it. As part of the combination it didn't really work which was a great shame. I ended up taking most of the potatoes out and leaving them. I had a coffee latte with my sandwich, not being a great coffee lover I can't really pass judgement on it because all coffee tastes the same to me. There was a bit of a wait for my order but it was cooked fresh so it's worth the wait. All in all it was a pleasant lunch choice. At £7.00 including the coffee I didn't think it was too horrendous. I'd definitely go back but I wouldn't have the same choice because of the potatoes. It's well worth going here rather than Burger King next door.
