This should have been a first indicator when the first clerk answered the phone, "hello." We adopted our Son from another country and found out that it would be best to re-adopt him in the US to prevent us from having to travel back to his home country in the event any legal issues arose. We scheduled a consultation where we paid our fees, all up front, and then waited as we were instructed to get all of our final paperwork with our Son's name changed. Well... His name was wrong on the paperwork, so my wife, went to discuss this with MS King, which is impossible to get an appointment with. When she got there, the current clerk said that they could fix everything, and re-order a birth certificate and have it mailed to our house. This is where it get's interesting. My wife was told that it would take 6-8 weeks for everything to be received on our end. Three months later, she called and asked what was going on. There was a new clerk, who stated that we declined the service and that the case was closed. After hearing this, I called and asked to speak with MS King and was informed that, "she isn't speaking to you or your wife, this case is closed." I said, this doesn't sound right, so I will come up there and we can discuss it in person. (My background) I am in the military and have never had a criminal record. I also worked in customer service as a manager for Wal-Mart where we learned that, if the company did something wrong, or incorrectly, then it needs to be fixed as a top priority. I will not continue to go on, I think you get the point. I showed up at the office 15 minutes later, and wasn't allowed to enter the office. I had to speak with the latest clerk, thru the glass door. I have never in my life been treated like a criminal. Nor have I been treated so rudely by anyone. I was told that after speaking with her over the phone, I hung up on her, which I didn't, and that she took that as a threat. Oh, where to start…read more The too long, didn't read version is that these guys are absolute rock stars. Rick Davis, Alicia Gannon and Grace Binger are the greatest! Here's the rest if you care to read on. Legal matters are stressful. Legal matters are expensive. As with most things in life, you absolutely get what you pay for. It may be really tempting to pay a small retainer to that new and inexperienced attorney. Sure, you'll save a few bucks up front. Then, you find out that opposing council consists of people like Rick Davis, Alicia Gannon and Grace Binger. Pack your bags and just cut your losses at that point. Our particular situation dealt with custody. My kids had lived with my ex and his new wife for the past 8 years give or take. One day the kids approached us and explained they'd like a change and would prefer to live with my husband and I. We presented this information to my ex as calmly as possible and hoped that given the kids' age(13 and 15), that he would respect their wishes. Given that you are reading this review for a Family Law attorney, you can guess that is not how things went. First there was mediation. My ex ate up an entire afternoon of time sitting with his arms folded. He wouldn't discuss anything and just said "no". Next came scheduling a full day in court. Opposing council came up with all these reasons they needed to delay. Their goal was to delay the hearing past the start of the school year in hopes that a judge wouldn't want to allow my children to move mid year. They wanted depositions and discovery and everything else you can imagine. Next came depositions. Mr. Davis advised me to be positive and professional...always great advice. Both Mr. Davis and opposing council questioned me for a couple of hours. Alicia also sat in on these proceedings and provided professional and personal support. My ex was also questioned by both attorneys but did not get the memo on being positive and professional. Given that we were on a timeframe, Mr. Davis decided that we should request a 2 hr block of the judge's time for a temporary orders hearing. If successful, that would allow my kids to make the move in the timeframe needed. There was very little opposing council could do to stop that. He also put in the request for time for the judge to confer with the kids. This was their request and he felt like they were old enough to have constructive input for the judge. Alicia and Grace both put in a TON of work getting ready for this. Their preparedness and hard work shined in court. The day of the temporary orders setting arrives. Remember how I said you get what you pay for? This is truly the case. Mr. Davis went to work and absolutely destroyed my obstinate ex and his inexperienced attorney. It was a comical delight to see the difference between inexperience and Mr. Davis's absolute competence in what he does. He is brilliant and the judges decision reflected that. As great a service as Mr. Davis provided, it was not just him with whom we were impressed. We spent 90% of our time working with Alicia Gannon, his Paralegal. She is awesome. We always knew EXACTLY what stage of the process we were in and were made aware of the current status. Emails were answered in near real time in exacting detail. We would call and bother her with every question we could think of and most of the time she knew off the top of her head exactly what the answer was. And this is with us as clients in parallel to all of their other clients. I really can't say enough good things about Alicia. What kind of Paralegal answers emails at 10pm at night or on weekends?!!? We would never have asked or expected that level of service...but she provided it. Truly exceptional, above and beyond. Grace Binger is another person to which we'd like to express our appreciation. She worked with Alicia behind the scenes organizing evidence and making it efficient for Mr. Davis to consume the material for presentation in court. Rick's presentation flowed absolutely seamlessly. If you are looking for a lawyer to work for you and help you, do not bother here. We had a personal injury case, and he kicked his feet for a year before he even talked about a demand letter. My husband had to ask for help on when he could get medical attention. When you hire an attorney, you are supposed to have things set up immediately and they would not answer the phone, call back, for days and sometimes weeks; forget email, they never respond. My husband had back surgery, out of work, out of a truck, and in pain. We wanted policy limits for all the loss, pain, and suffering. He did not fight for us and basically said the offer we are getting is a steal and we should take it and run. Once we settled, they got their money and sat on it for over 2 weeks while we waited for them to settle the medical bills. We wanted to see the demand letter before being sent out, he sent it anyways without our approval. We wanted proof of the negotiation from the insurance company, we were told it was verbal. Then we wanted proof of the medical bills that were paid and to approve those before being paid, and they never did until after they settled them. There is no communication with all the staff as we were told the amount we were getting would go up since the medical bills were getting lowered. Then we were told no the amount we were told was the amount, so where's the extra money??? Not in OUR pocket. Website says 24/7 availability and yet they are always "on a call". Away from the desk/office, or not in the office that day. They only responded to us towards the end because we would call ALL day every day for answers. They just want to take your money, and make even more money off of you and you are stuck with waiting while you are out of work and your family is suffering. They do not care about you nor do they care to help. Ambulance chaser at its finest right here. -5 stars from us. We paid him over $170,000 of our settlement for him to work for himself and not his client.
