    Merle's Air Duct and Furnance

i definitely DO NOT recommend Merle's Air duct and furnance cleaning. we had an appointment last…read moreweek and they did not show or call. So I called and he apologized and said it was not put in his book and he had his daughter's graduation party and I understand and said no problem and he rescheduled for this week. Well...... again no show and no call. I tried calling and all I got was a voicemail that has not been set up. I am so frustrated I had to rearrange my work twice and my kids and dogs so they were not in the way and then don't bother to show. I was talking to my friend last night and she said the same thing happened to her with Merle's. She never heard from them.

Well it was 4 PM on Friday 11/01 so I called the owner and he apologized saying the guy he was going to send over had a dr apt and forgot about my duct cleaning. The owner said how about I come take care of it on Monday 11/04 at 9:30 AM. At 2 PM, I decided to give them a call and a lady named Andrea I believe answered. She said that he was in an accident on interstate that morning and she'd have to call me back after she figured out what's going on. It was unfortunate but I understood to a point. Well now it's Friday 11/08 and I have yet to hear anything from them. I wanted to support a small business but decided to book a service with Steamatic who scheduled the cleaning in a timely manner and actually was only $25 more than what Merle's was going to charge me. Things happen but this was very unprofessional as I had taken work off 2 separate times and brought my 2 dogs to doggie daycare so that they wouldn't be in the way during the cleaning.

My furnace was down this morning and gave three flashes (pressure switch circuit open). I called…read moreGreat Plain explained situation, asked rate, the price I heard was a very reasonable amount plus parts. Tom came in pretty quick, drove back picked up a inducer motor, put it on. Drove back the second time to get a pressure switch. After work done, I received a call from him ask for my credit card number. He didn't mention the amount. I asked and found out labor was twice of the amount I was told earlier. He told me that was hourly rate, it took two hours. And of course, part is more expensive than I expected, which I think it's probably normal and I cannot complain much about it. Got a text picture from him and saw a TOTAL DUE amount. I paid the bill on phone but late night found out my credit card was charged more with another amount, it turned out TOTAL DUE amount was before tax. This time I got upset, texted and called him, got no response and call rejection. later on got some text and a call back because I asked if it is OK for me to share my experience online. It's my first time that I was told a price, received invoice with another amount and charged on credit card with another another amount. No prior or later explanation, no warranty mentioned until asked. And it looks like he doesn't understand why I was upset. "Sir, are you angry because you paid the tax to the city. I run the number and your credit card company charged the tax automatically. Don't you go to MacDonald and they charge you tax, too." I just want to say" Dear Tom, please be aware TOTAL DUE in MacDonald is after tax ". I have to say, Tom is a very smart guy. He probably can fix your HVAC with his experience and skill, and he is equally skillful or even better at getting you into his business, charging max money out of your pocket and avoiding liabilities. He can read people and knows who he can charge more without getting into trouble. He apologized for the confusion (admitted no mistake of course) and I was offered 50 bucks discount for next service (profitable business or/and good business skills), but I think he's got plenty of tricks to easily make me pay 100 or 200 more. I hate to write bad reviews (as people may make a living on it). I appreciate Tom came in time and fixed my furnace in a cold day. I didn't enjoy the surprises about the charges again and again. Dear Tom, you want to know why I was angry. Because other than paying extra money, I felt like being intentionally manipulated, lied and fooled. To be fair, I should rate 2 star or 3 star because problem was solved fine. But I rated 1 star just want to draw some attention, notice the reviews about this company is either super good or super bad. I took my chance and you should rethink about taking yours, as they probably don't treat everyone the same way. You likely will get services either in this end or the other end. If my post can make people choose the right service company or urge some smart people who think they can read or pick people to provide more honest services. Then my time is well spent.

So let me start with what Doesn't The District have? Almost nothing. The only thing I always want…read morein a luxury apartment? An indoor pool so I can swim when it's cold which is really amazing to have in ND. But that's the Only thing The District doesn't have. Starting w the staff: Sarah is super amazing and so down to earth and helpful ... Kaitlyn nice also ... Josh is just that sweet nice guy who is chill and would give you the shirt off his back in this 0 degree weather ... and Robert is the guy who seems to be able to do and fix anything. Then the amenities! I can't even tell you how much i love this building. Outdoor pool, free internet (just bring your router), free washer & dryer w steam iron and sink and huge table for folding and 2 plush chairs to sit on for studios, in unit W&D for bigger sizes, a pet washing room just like a groomer would have, a big bike room w Air and tools and table to fix your bike, a pool table, a huge common room for parties or just to watch TV w an electric fireplace, an upstairs conference room w table and TV, 2 open lobby areas w TV and fireplaces and seating that's comfortable, free Starbucks and other brands for tea and lattes and cappuccinos, a huge gym that has everything you need which looks to be 1200 square feet+ with 15 foot ceilings, indoor parking garage if you want, free outdoor parking, no keys or fobs but just an app to open all doors except mailboxes (your apple or smart watch can also open all doors), balconies for many units, dogs and cats allowed, and just modern and always kept clean. The interior of the units have all new appliances, the washer and dryer are top of the line and use AI, and it's quiet while right off S Washington Street on 40th Avenue and just 1 mile from 32nd Avenue where all the stores are. This is by far my favorite luxury building in the . The District gets 100 stars!! You are the reason I stayed in North Dakota . Kudos to the architect and contractors and owner. Plus I loved it that they checked not your credit score but other factors bc it truly is not an indicator of financial responsibility. I brag about The District everyday to my friends and family so they are jealous. Oh and they have EV charge stations! There isnt enough space to write all the great things we have.
