The original building is almost 100 years old & the property is in definite need of improvement. But, that's actually the charm. Also, as a Buddhist interfaith organization, the cost is affordable, as most of the operations rely on Dana (generosity in Pali - the language of the Buddha). The idea is that the teachings are accessible to all. So don't let money be a deterrent from visiting. Each room has its own bathroom, so there's no need to share, which is unusual for a Buddhist meditation retreat center. They also provide all towels & sheets. You will need to bring your own toiletries. Also, I loved the "meditation pool" (the original swimming pool has been filled in) and took in the sun from one of the reclining chairs. They are also putting in an infrared sauna. And, you can walk down to the lake from their property in 2 minutes. Finally, be sure to attend a talk by the Venerable Pannavati. Each Sunday at 12 noon, there is a public talk. She's inspiring, kind and welcoming. I'll definitely be back!

It…read morewas recommended by someone who used to own a high end float tank and had quite a bit of experience in this area. I was really looking forward to it but it just didn't deliver. The facilities are really nice, the staff was friendly and professional, but the reason I'm not rating it well overall is because of the actual float experience. The temperature of the water was not what it was described to be- it was way colder and I was shivering for the last 20-30 minutes. Even with the earplugs, I heard noisy pipes and the water system doing its thing, music, doors opening and closing. There was too much ambient light creeping in through the pod lid. I just was not able to have that nice sensory-deprivation experience and float without a care in the world, and without sensory input. There was way too much input and the temp of the water was ridiculously low and it was overall hard to enjoy.

Book a retreat and get away. When you pull in you are greeted by a lot of the staff. They help you load your stuff and take you to the top. The whole way they are giving history and a mini tour. You arrive at your cottage (named after plants). They are laid out to encourage getting out and exploring so no common areas. The tea house is open 24 hours a beautiful spot to read or chat. Mandala Hall is a beautiful space for yoga and workshops. The dining hall great spot open seat. The food is phenomenal cooked with love. The land is luscious and awe inspiring. Bedroom doors have locks. The beds- Imagine sleeping on a cloud with a cloud on top of you along with an additional luxurious blanket. Several different pillows (3 on a twin bed!) are provided for your preferred level of fluffiness. The shower has immediate hot water and good pressure. The unit is quiet at night and feels safe. GETTING AROUND: You can walk to all the facilities within 3-5 minutes, 7 minutes if you stroll. You can take the road with a slight incline, or climb about 10 rock stairs (WITH handrails!!). OUTSIDE: A huge firepit surrounded with plenty of comfortable chairs is right next to a peaceful pond with a small man-made waterfall. You can hear frogs croak evening and morning. There's a turkey loitering, and can point you in the right direction. You can enjoy the best stargazing ever on the wide lush carpet of grass. MEETING PLACES The gorgeous round mandala house allows a 360 degree view of the mountains. Below is a kitchen and eating area. You can eat inside, or at a picnic table outside. They even have those big heaters in case it's cold outside! The Tea room is open 24 hours a day with plenty of comfortable seats, and beautiful views outside. Food- I wouldn't be surprised if the chef planned the perfect amount of macro/micro nutrients for optimal health. There's less variety and volume than I'd prefer (but probably the perfect calorie count). I advise bringing additional snacks. There's so much more. Just go there. She consistently asked how I was doing and if the pressure was okay, too much or too little. I have terrible issues with my hips, glutes, legs and feet. With a combination of Thai massage, yoga and stretching I felt fantastic when we finished. I got up off the massage table easily and felt so relaxed and moved around so much more easily. I will definitely see Crystal again and am also going to sign up for private yoga sessions. I would recommend her to anyone!

Next the instructors are extremely knowledgeable, great cueing and made me feel so welcome. They have something for everyone and every level. I also went on Halloween and lots of members dressed up which was so fun! Can't recommend this place enough!
