I thought it was weird Rex Roofing was interested in the job I initiated as a Yelp Project because…read moreI haven't seen anything remotely resembling my 1200sqft 1970 ranch house on their website or socials, and I'm in Longmont while they're based in Castle Rock. Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.

He also helped guide us through the insurance claim process, keeping us informed at every step. The roofing crew arrived as scheduled, did their work efficiently, and left the house and grounds clean. I highly recommend them if you are in need of a roof replacement

Neat, precise, with attention to detail are descriptions that immediately come to mind. I was also favorably impressed with the good relationship Mike enjoyed with the Xcel Power Lineman, I have no doubt the down time was minimized due to Mike's friendly, cooperative nature. A 5 Star Rating would have easy to achieve by this business if it weren't for a perplexing process with the company leading up to the satisfactory results. The lead-in was six weeks from first contact to completion. I come from another area and perhaps the mode of doing business varies a bit, I give the benefit of the doubt as VE seems to enjoy a good reputation as a leading electrical company serving not only parts of Colorado but New Mexico as well. I initially requested a proposal, I described the desired work and provided pictures of the present installation. OK, yes but what we're dealing with is the "supply chain" problems, right now they didn't have what was required to do the job. "The cost runs about X Dollars" and depends too on getting the power company to "disconnect/reconnect". The Company Rep went on to provide contact information for the power company. I wondered if coordinating with Xcel wouldn't be part of the job for the electrical contractor? Things are different than what I'm used to. During the next 6 weeks I kept in touch by text reaffirming my intent to have the work done. Midway through I got a call "equipment is available, we ought to get you on the work schedule next week"..my response good, fine let me know. Days came and went so I ditched the text/phone contact method and presented myself at their counter. While waiting for my point of contact to become available I was easily able to overhear phone calls being placed by another employee. It seems follow up calls were being made about pending (aged?) work orders. I listened to 3 or 4 calls, in every case other arrangements had been made or the work was no longer desired by the customer. I had to wonder..."what's going on here?". After a few minutes I heard information from the POC that seemed to indicate management had little input on scheduling and work crews chose jobs from available orders. What, who is running this place? I'm not buying much of what I listened to. Long, long story short. I visited on a Monday, work was complete Wednesday afternoon. A Five Star rating would be easy peasy, value Mike & Donovan they represent you well. Perhaps paying a Sales Representative would pay off? Not for me to say. BTW the requested proposal never materialized.

I called for a return visit, and have called four times over the last two weeks. There was some promised action, but nobody has showed nor have they called to either explain the delay nor arrange a visit. The scheduler lectured me that they should not have performed the original work, but it was done. Will they stand behind their work? I recommend hiring a scheduler that doesn't irritate customers. Previously, I have had good service, and I promptly paid. If Valley no longer wants my business, then they should at least say so.
