Now, since then, I've actually sent her a few clients; one being a childhood friend. My friend ended up retaining her and was going to file for divorce. My friend had a change of heart and decided to wait until she was certain. My friend asked for a refund and Michelle sent her an invoice for work done. This was almost a year and some months ago. Fast forward to this year, now my friend is ready to go through with the divorce and calls Michelle back, and says she's ready. Come to find out nothing was ever filed yet her invoice states she paid filing fees, and that it was filed. You have to trust your lawyer and Michelle, although sweet as pie may not be as ethical as I thought. Just disheartened that she sent an invoice for work she never completed at the time. Same day! It was a 30 min consult but the Attorney wanted to see paperwork first. He asked that I upload the documents into their client portal and to call him back. He even gave me his number. That was definitely cool. We talked for 12 minutes so he said I could call him back with no extra charge. At this moment I LOVE this lawyer. The following week I did as I was told and uploaded the documents so he could see. I texted instead of called him so that he'd know the documents were there. I called his office also to tell his staff I needed a call back, I didn't want him to miss my text. I got deployed for the inauguration and hadn't heard from the office or him. My answer was due on the following Monday and I desperately called his office back. He finally called. I had interviewed 3 attorneys and although I did like the other attorneys, my intention was to hire this one because I liked his confidence. My perception of him changed on our final call. I guess he thought I didn't want to pay him, he kept alluding that I wanted him to do work and he wasn't retained. Although true, I never had an opportunity to retain him because his staff nor him ever called me. And I had a text to prove I asked him for a call back. He didn't want to acknowledge that his office dropped the ball. Or take responsibility. That was a turn off. I definitely see how some reviews perceive him as rude. He's just very direct. Definitely my fault for not going else where after the first week of not getting a call back. But since I never got the full 30 min paid consult and he asked that I call him back,I did that. Overall, I will say, he's busy. He definitely doesn't remember what your conversation was. He is forthcoming about not being a family law attorney. I have had quiet the bumpy since he started representing me for the car accident I was involved in back in August 2023. 1- He sent me to a chiropractor that ended up billing me for almost $9k for 2 months (3 times a week) of treatment. This chiropractor was just adjusting my back without caring what my diagnosis was and where the pain truly was coming from. 2- Some forms I received from the attorney included my information incorrect. Such as him stating that I am a minor...I am 23 years old. 3- 3 of my bills ended up going to collections even though he reassured me that in his various years of profession this had never happened. He failed to update/ inform the medical providers of his representation and provide them with the lien letter despite my constant reminders and concern for the bills. 4- I always had to be the one to reach out because he would never update me. 5- When the time to settle came around he only wanted to give me 8k despite my case being worth 45k. 6- Carlos Tristan even ended up sending a check to a doctor I didn't even visit even after I had mentioned this to him prior to him sending the checks. 7- Currently it has been over a month since I settled, and he supposedly paid all my medical bills yet I am still getting billed by one provider. Upon calling this provider they mentioned that no letters (HIPPA or lien) have been sent to them from the attorney and much less the check 8- This law firm does not handle these time sensitive cases well. 9- They contradict themselves in a lot of things. Such as when the Attorney, Carlos Tristan, told me that he could not negotiate the medical bills yet that same day I called the provider and they said that the law firm had already sent in an offer and that it had been approved.
