Now my mind was already…read morepre-blown about the prospects of trying another Brasilian meat buffet, which is slightly cheaper than Fazenda, but that usually is an indication of it not going to be as good as Fazenda. I had no problem booking a party of 9 (as it was my leaving do!), and upon arrival, at around 7, it was surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening, which I didn't expect. The interior was quite nice and modern, and the much anticipated salad bar was situated in the middle of the dining area. Having been seated on a 'long' table, the waitress briefly explained how things worked, and then we were let loose on the salad bar! So, the salad was alright, and not as extensive as Fazenda's, which I suppose is a good thing, as the meat is the main attraction. As the waiters with the meat swords starting arriving, and keeping my card green nearly always, I managed to sample the 11 cuts of meat they had on offer. The meats was of good quality, some better than others. My favourites were the steak cuts and best served pink, and the grilled pineapple! Besides the meats and salad bar food, in addition that was brought to the table, were two baskets of fries and possibly some light bites (can't quite remember these...!). Overall it was a nice experience, good food and friendly service, and is somewhere to dine out.

The Real Ale Trail, The Beer Train, The Great Yorkshire Burp Fest or Angelina Vs The Hop...whatever…read moreyou call it it is a CRACKING way to spend the day hopping from pub to train to pub to train from Staybridge to Leeds with every stop a pint winner on the way. But then it happens, with a dawning realisation and not a little horror you discover that you are 3 sheets to the wind and your body cannot sustain you a moment longer on naught but beer and Scampie Fries. You need to eat. You need to MEAT. We decided Huddersfield would do just spanky, having as I recalled an Argentinian Steak House. Yes I was drunk and yes it is in fact a Brazilian Grill, a la Fazenda but waaaay smaller, no salad bar and about a tenner cheaper. But! The comparison is unfair. Fazenda (or 'Home' as I like to call it) is a huge, slick, cosmopolitan arrangement with more accoutrements than you can shake your rapidly hardening meat stick at. Botafogo is a teeny tiny one room affair with, I suspect, no more than 30 covers. You're going to need to book. Or alternatively you can stagger in stinking of Black Sheep, get told there's no room and then look at the owner with huge sad lambykittenpup eyes filling with sad tears until he relents and tells you he will try and squeeze you in if you come back in an hour. I recommend lots of mascara for a truly devastating effect if you find yourself in this position. One more pub and a zigzaggy walk later and we were enjoying free drinks whilst we waited for a table to clear. There were lots of apologies for the 20 or so minutes we had to sit, but the free drinks and homely atmosphere made this no problem whatsoever. Just like Fazenda you order your drink, pick some sides if you want them (fries and nibbles come free) and then sit back as the dripping meat skewers wend their way toward you, heavy with mindblowingly succulent flesh. We gorged, drank red wine, gorged some more, I was poleaxed and dropped a huge bowl of herby oil dressing all over Chris, they cleaned Chris up, Chris ate for almost an hour solid and then declared he didn't eat late at night and couldn't finish (I stress he had been stuffing his face for an hour at this point), we all laughed, 3 of us gorged some more and we were utterly sated. Well done Botafogo, you handled us so so well. A gorgeous, friendly, low key, well run, well staffed and sublimely well catered restaurant that deserves to become a landmark for Huddersfield. I thoroughly recommend the short train journey out of Leeds to give Botafogo the support it deserves. For Ade and I paying together plus a really nice bottle of wine was a very reasonable £54, without the wine you are looking at less than £20 a person- so get thee down there and wrap thy gums around some good meat! And remember, all life is sacred. Unless it is delicious.

It was a great price and they had a nice selection of meats. Most of the meets where very well grilled and spiced perfectly. I ate my self into a coma and honestly my meal with a full salad bar and two glasses of wine only came down to about 33 pounds. The interior was nicely intimate and warm with a nice compliment of colorful furniture. If you end up in this small town I definitely suggest that this is a place to have one of your meals or your only meal

The menu is quite extensive, on top of that they are very happy to show you the meat cuts on a small table that is wheeled right to your table. We thoroughly enjoyed starters, mains and dessert. Our waiter was very friendly and happy to advise and check our questions about food with the chef if he didn't know the answer. The food was just heavenly! I would love to come back.

Generally, you can save 25% off food with Gourmet Society membership but this offer takes it further. Inside, the decor is fantastic being set in an old Methodist Church just off Deansgate, accessed via a ramp with a very steep gradient or a large step. The inside area is a stunning old building, decorated with cow print. The cocktail menu was rather expensive, they also didn't have anything basic and seemed to have weird, wacky cocktails which I really didn't fancy, standard spirits and mixers were also rather expensive too. I didn't end up going for a cocktail in the end - one of the best places in the city for a cocktail has to be the Hard Rock Cafe, a 70cl cocktail and a collectable glass for under £13 meant I'd head thereafter for some booze before heading home - the selection here didn't cut it for me. Although known for their steak offerings, I opted for the Spatchcock Chicken. I did enjoy the flavours of the chicken although the leg piece didn't have a lot of meat on, I really enjoyed the breast part - I just wish it would have been more breast. The flavours, spices and sauces were good but I still think it didn't represent value for money at all, this dish alone was £18 without any sides! For sides, I decided to opt for chips/fries, at £5 a portion I expected them to be good, but they just weren't. I found them to be poorly seasoned as well as a little overcooked and soggy, for such a price you'd expect them to be good, fresh chips when in all honestly I've pulled out better fries from my freezer at a fraction of the cost, this meant although I did enjoy a half of my chicken, it didn't cut it as nothing went with it. Considering they only have one lot of chips, there's nothing which would go with steak either, who wants steak and mash? All the staff seemed friendly, with the exception of my waitress who seemed more like an angry mother, who seemed to treat me and my party like a child, for example forcing us to use the menu as a placemat for our food. I also found it a shame to see they were unable to adapt dishes, now this is fine dining, a high-end place with mains costing at least £18 and some items going up towards the £100 mark, a place like this being unable to adapt dishes is truly dissapointing especially for the price mark, they were unable to remove sauces etc as it came "pre-marinated" in many cases. My server also seemed a little rude and easily confused, for example, she couldn't understand when my friend ordered a starter as a main course which was down to the fact he didn't want anything with spices on, as every dish came pre-marinated other than the steak. She did get there in the end, but even that was a struggle. There was also a long wait for food, it at one point felt like I'd never get my food which was quite frustrating as well. They didn't seem overly busy and it didn't seem like anything the large open kitchen couldn't handle either. They do have gluten-free labelled on the menu and do have a few choices, sadly their gluten-free bread is seeded bread which I hate (I wish everywhere didn't put seeds in bread as it ruins it!), also there were no gluten-free starters on the menu which again was dissapointing. Do bear in mind also that this place has a rather high service-charge at 12.5% regardless of how many people are dining, this is also applied before any discounts so even though our group of 3 saved £10 per person, this amount was also subject to the service charge, so that alone worked out close to £9. Considering the long wait for food and the attitude of my server, I don't understand the justification behind that by any means. A high-end place which doesn't live up to the price tag, some good flavours in the chicken and nice decor warrant an extra star but I won't be rushing back to this place. 2*

We got there having already eaten so can't comment on the food, other than that the offerings chalked up behind the bar looked pretty good. The barman was friendly and brought us over a ramekin of wasabi peas to go with our drinks. As mentioned in my check-in, the jukebox is pretty excellent. A nice mix of old and new, with some eclectic choices and some classics, and £1 for five songs. On a Saturday night there wasn't a wealth of atmosphere and it was pretty quiet. Last orders were called shortly after we started our drinks so we called it a night then. I think I'll return to De Nada at some point for a casual drink with friends and perhaps food, just not for a rip-roaring night out.

The food here is always great and about on par with the prices to be expected in Chorlton, the portions are on the smallish side but are priced within that 'tapas order when you feel like it' range so it's reasonably acceptable, you'd probably need to order a couple of things if you were desiring a full meal. They have a decent range of cask beer and the keg on offer is not your average mainstream beers either which is always a pleasant occurence. Because of it's location, it is never packed solid with people so it is a great option in Chorlton if you are after a beer and a bite without contending with the usual Chorlton crowds especially on a Friday/Saturday evening. De Nada has a lunch time special running pretty much constantly where you can grab an empanada and a beer for £5 which is a bargain. There is good outdoor seating on a front deck for the warmer months. In Winter this is relegated primarily to smokers which can be a slight turn off when you are walking up to the bar, but it's fairly common practice around Manchester.

The grumpy server who brought us the various skewers of hot meat to slice at the table could not speak English (!) when we asked him what the meats were which he was bringing to us. He just pointed to the menu and tried his hardest to explain. That's unacceptable. He started us off with the really cheap sausage (!) in order to hopefully satiate our appetites so we'd order less of the more expensive meats which would come later. Bad form. We were told by the initial Greeter that there were to be a choice of 7 different meats at lunch, but we only saw 5. None of the cuts of meat were of great quality. I shouldn't have expected the best quality at an all-u-can-eat place. When we finished eating, another waiter who could speak English brought us 2 complimentary alcoholic liqueurs which we hadn't asked for because we are tee-totalers, which we returned. Why did they assume we'd like that? Idiotic. Finally, we wanted to pay the £30 for two bill in coins, which they said they did not like. They wanted us to go to the trouble of going to a bank and convert the coins into paper money, which we obviously refused. Money is money, and every restaurant could use the change. The place was empty at lunch time, and I can see why. And it's listed on Yelp as Brazilain??

We…read morecame on a weekend but yet there wasn't a ton of people which is quite nice because for restaurants like these, its honestly pretty hard to walk in and immediately get a seat. Here are my favorite items: - Polenta Frita - Even though polenta is one of the top food items in Brazil, a lot of braiziliant restaurants actually surprisingly don't have this on their menu. Was very surprised that Bem Brasil had this and that it was actually delicious! I appreciate that the polenta retained a lot of its natural flavors and that it didn't fall apart immediately when you put it in your mouth. Loved the crispiness on the outside too, definitely a good mix against the fries. - Pao De Queijo (Cheese Bread) - Cheese bread in the UK is superior to cheese bread in US Brazilian Steakhouses and this place is no different. The cheese bread tastes like a popover and it was super cheesy on the inside but not like the usual pull apart kinds but rather it was ingrained cheese taste which I appreciate. - Presunto Defumado (Smoked Gammon) - I think a lot of other meats had a lot of flavor on the outside but not a ton on the inside, so its nice that this one (even though it is just ham) has a ton of flavor throughout. Goes well with the other more flavorless meats. Overall, not a bad experience at all. WIll this be the best Brazilian Steahouse you ever had? No. But if you do have this craving and you don't want to wait for hours for no seating, Bem Brasil is probably your next best option.
