The jewelry were bright and bold and evoke such Betsey Johnson vibes except with an emphasis on acrylic as their creative medium. We entered the store and oh my goodness everything was so eye catching - both in terms of designs as well as color palette. If you're a gal (or guy) who loves subdue understated jewelry this isn't the shop for you, as everything is extremely playful and witty. There were multiple items I wanted to purchase; however, the pricepoint is much higher than what I am use to; yet, you can think of it as paying for the design, and the fact that it's handmade by UK individuals. The smaller designs range in the £50 - £150 whereas the really stunning statement pieces around £200-£400. The extremely orange pieces can go up to £500+ I ended up getting a really beautiful blue parrot statement necklace that I'm sure would be a head turner. Can't wait to see more of their beautiful collection!

I usually like to wander inside the shops, looking at the displays and every now and them, indulging myself with a guilty pleasure, so when I visited this branch with my family, I was expecting more of the same: lovely things and attentive customer service. The thing with this one Oliver Bonas in particular is the customer service. When I have visited some of the other shops, everyone seems happy to help, but not here! There were 3 members of staff in sight, two chatting behind the till in another language and one running around counting the displays. No greetings, no acknowledge of us or the other customer, who seemed very interested in the jewellery cabinet and was trying to gain their attention. We didn't really need anything, we were merely browsing, killing time, but we left very disappointed with the staff. A simple hello would have been nice!

I browsed for a good 20mins while waiting for a friend, and could easily have bought half the shop! I restrained myself though, and bought just a pair of oversize black butterfly earrings. As we know, indie shops can be hit or miss, since they tend to fit the owner's tastes...but I have to say, this shop had me wanting to buy ALL THE THINGS and start up many new crafts. (Restrained myself, as I had limited luggage space and Parisian craft shops on the itinerary.) Yarn and apparel fabrics were the main attractions for me--I picked up some cotton that later became a skirt, and a couple balls of bulky British yarn that are now keeping a friend's head warm in Toronto. I also added notions, markers, iron-ons, and paper goods to my craft arsenal. (I don't normally do paper stuff but how could I not buy giant cross-stitch paper??) I was super impressed by the machine parts collection--who knew that many feet existed?! I probably walked the whole store 3x to make sure I wasn't missing anything I couldn't live without. Anyway, amazing stock aside, the owner is incredibly sweet & kind. We had a nice little chat about the shop, and she graciously shared some business tips. Since that visit, I've been following her Instagram and *really* wish I had managed to take a class when I was in town. (Now I know for next time!!) The shop is bright, cheery, inviting, and beautifully pulled together. If you're in London and you or someone you love is a crafter, swing by this store. You're bound to find something(s) wonderful.

The shop is quite cutting edge in what they offer, the emphasis on shape and cut and are amongst the freshest themes out there, there is always an interesting cut to look out for at Dahlia's. Attention to detail is essential, buttons, pockets, stitching and lining. For instance, I fell in love with one of their new season sailor coats, with red buttons and navy backdrop, the lining in silk and printed red stars. Unfortunately, the shape was a bit to frumpy for my height but I can see it being worn by a specific kind of woman amazingly! I encountered the same problem with other outfits, it was such a shame. Their clothes won't fit everyone, but you never know; one of their vintage type, fun cut dresses might fit you perfectly.

Supposedly the designer is British and began selling her pieces on Portobello Road ten years ago. The shop is brightly lit, small and very quaint. I found the Dahlia collection to be rather vintage-inspired, with precise tailoring feminine details. The quality of the pieces are very good and I feel like the price point is fair. There also is a section of vintage pieces in the shop, all in wonderful condition. I found the service to be great as well, my salesgirl was quite attentive and gave me her advice when I was conflicted between two vintage 1950s dresses I had selected. She asked for my contact information so she could ring me when they got in a trench I was eyeing earlier that had sold out straight away. Also, she said she would let me know when the shop got in their next vintage shipment. Overall, wonderful and very genuine customer service. I look forward to what the Dahlia shop has in store for F/W 2010 and I will be back in the shop very soon.

There are a few fabric shops on Berwick street so shop around for the fabric you want at the price you want. I've never bought fabric from a shop before, i've always gone to the market, and this place was a bit pricey at £3/m for undyed cotton. The place is an Aladdin's cave of fabric and the staff were helpful and asked what weight fabric i wanted. I hadn't a clue but they had some good advice for me. They even climbed over mountains of other fabric to get me the cloth i wanted. I'm going to keep shopping around for somewhere cheaper, but will go back if i'm in the area.

I have shopped at the fabric shops on Berwick Street since 2013 and the rotten attitude of the staff at this store (in my experience) has been consistent. It has not mattered who has worked there, that's the funny part, I am not even speaking about one person. Everyone I have ever encountered there is rude. About two years ago I mentioned how unpleasant the staff were to another salesperson at MacCulloch & Wallis and he told me that he used to work there, agreed that the staff were unfriendly and in particular worked a woman who customers always complained about. The negative vibes this store gives off has discouraged me from shopping there for about a year or more. But today I thought I would go in, because it does have a great selection. However, once again the Berwick Street Cloth Shop vibe was moody. Therefore I have finally decided to write this negative review because of my final horrible experience. I was looking at fabric bent down while a sales person was busy organizing the rolls of cloth across from me. She accidentally hit me in the face with the end of the fabric roll. I stammered "oh sorry" and as she turned around to glare at me, she aloofly said "what, did I hit you?" to which I replied "yes". She then very (surprise!) rudely responded "sorry". So I said "I am sorry I guess I am in the way" to which she said "no it's fine". LIKE OBVIOUSLY IT'S FINE I AM A CUSTOMER. It's absolutely okay to accidentally bump into someone or hit them in the face, but to do so and not react until the person who has been hit says sorry to which you then glare back is too much. Literally comical. There are so many shops on Berwick Street, for price and value go to my favorite shop there The Cloth Shop. The selection is varied and the staff are much much much more friendly. Fabric shops should be enjoyable to enter and explore. No one should feel intimidated to go and ask for help or buy stuff. Lastly I feel bad for anyone who works there that is nice, because I have not met you and this review is focused on everyone being glum. But in my experience I have only ever encountered mean spirited people. Two stars, one for beautiful goods and the other for the one nice employee who maybe exists there.

Firstly, the shop doesn't feel imposing or intimidating to enter, but neither does it feel like a chaotic heap of dirty fabric. I was quite content to wander around and browse/stroke the pretty fabrics without feeling I'll catch something, and without the staff hovering around me. When I was ready to make a purchase the gentleman who served me was very friendly and gave me sound advice on what direction the grain in my fabric went (so that I would know which way to cut it) and he was very accommodating to my specific requests. Also unique among the fabric shops around here, Bovorik has a decent basic haberdashery selection, with things like needles, ribbons, elastic, fabric dyes and all the other bits and pieces you might need.

We dropped in after a visit to The British Museum and I loved the different styles and pattern mixes. Honestly, I think I loved the wares at Highland store more than the St Stephen's Green wool shops in Dublin, Ireland and have definitely put Scotland on my list of spots to visit in the future! After perusing the store I chose a shawl I thought my mother would love (she did) and the wonderful store clerk chose a fresh folded copy for me to take home for her. All in all a simply wonderful experience at the Highland Store in London!

The sale stuff is excellent - you can always tell a good shop by how their sale stuff is hung. It's not shoved at the back of the shop like you usually find. In fact, it's just a pleasant surprise that you notice on the tag that the amazing dress at the front of the shop is half price. Brilliant. The staff are friendly. I was the only person in the shop yesterday and usually I HATE that. I feel compelled to buy stuff - you can't browse and hide if no one else is in there. Especially in expensive boutiques. The dresses are great - not cut to my exact tastes though which is why I came out empty handed. Their jackets are cut very well and very 'officey' - shame I wear jeans to the office now or I'd have come out with three. I think if I keep popping back I'll find some great stuff in here. Lots of floaty silk stuff. Wedding perfect. Dresses usually about £200 are about £60 in the sale right now. Bargain.
