They were super busy in that time between Thanksgiving and Christmas with the Santa lit up out front and lots of shoppers. I was mostly here because Cabela's / Bass Pro tolerate overnight parking for RVs in their lot. I didn't find the designated parking area for RVs. Inside, the store was packed. Lots of people shopping and I did check out the men's wear and the firearms. Pistols looked to be priced okay, ammo was medium and there were plenty of bargains for camping gear if you looked carefully. Purchased a new gun here today and the associate picked out the "correct" ammo to go with it, we purchased said ammo because the associate picked it out saying it was the right one, took it to the range same day and it is not the right ammo, confirmed with the staff at the range, it does not work for this gun at all. Now Cabela's is telling us that despite the fact it was THEIR mistake, they will not refund or exchange ammo. So they can scam you out of your money and refuse to correct their mistakes. Apparently their staff at the gun counter don't actually know anything about what they're selling. read more

I like Cabela's. I liked them when they were a catalog store many many years ago (I'm dating myself here). I've visited the Garner store a handful of times and have almost always had a good experience. The run on pistol primers is still evident here in that they don't stock much in the way of reloading supplies because "It's not available". Aside from this, I've always had good transactions here, between trading or purchasing firearms, camping equipment, smoking chunks, shoes, just a wide variety of outdoorsy equipment. It's a cool place to hang out, and if one is looking for something specific, all they have to do is ask. I've always had good service here. read more

Local Cabelas Garner NC listed ammunition on sale and available for pickup now. Visited the store, they did not have it and the sales associates told me they would not honor the sale price posted. I reached out and chatted with online customer service rep. Told him situation and asked where was the nearest store that had it. He said Cary NC showed it in stock, so I called them and they did not. It is a good thing I did not drive there on his promise. Cabelas obviously does not have an active/live inventory interface to their website for shopping. Nor could they tell me where any of their products are physically located, but was guaranting next day pickup at my local store. Cabelas needs to drop some employees standing around bullshitting and refolding shirts in the store and invest in an active inventory/website interface system. With today's technology, there is no excuse for knowing exactly where inventory is located and exact quantities especially if they are going to incorrectly post inventory on their website and waste my time running between stores trying to purchase something. read more

Cabela's is a candy store for any hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and camping enthusiast. This store is fun just to browse, and you can spend hours just enjoying ogling the gear!! Prices are fair and sale deals are great. The staff is eager and readily available if you need help, and very knowledgeable about the merchandise. I have gotten excellent recommendations when I was comparison-shopping. I bought a boat and the sales associate helped me select the model that best suited my needs and fit my price range. I got MUCH better and attentive service than the marinas I visited. (One idiot kept addressing my male companion, not me!) SO glad I went in there and bought from Cabela's!!!!!! Surprised by the low average rating for Cabela's. I could have gone as high as 4 stars but dropped a star based on how long it took to get my order in. The store itself is clean, large, and offers about anything you need for the outdoors. They have a very respectable variety of guns on display. I don't know if those are actually in stock or just display items. I ordered a handgun and 12 gauge online. Man, it took a few weeks to get them in. I get it, the world is a crazy place right now, and vendors supplying guns and ammo are struggling to keep up with the demand. The online ordering was easy enough. Web site is decent and user friendly. Once I got my email stating my order was ready for pickup at the Garner location, I headed that way. The guys in the firearms section were friendly and helpful. The laptop for the background check was touch screen and easy to use. Cabela's is very detailed oriented and anal about the forms and verification. They check to make sure the guns were the right make and model, correct serial number, checked for any damage, and made sure to verify all the paperwork and identification. It took maybe 20 minutes to complete everything and leave with the products. So a solid 3 star experience. This location deserves 4 stars. The ordering delays, which are outside of this store's control, is the reason for 3 stars from me. I would purchase from Cabela's again with no hesitation. read more

Walked out of the store after 2 minutes due to the crowded store and number of shoppers not wearing masks. There was probably 20% of the shoppers not with a mask on. Before we made it to the back of the store we turned around and left. Funny enough, in November, we had the same experience at Bass Pro in Cary. In the past 8 months, these are the only two stores where mask wearing was not being enforced and the only stores we left due to feeling unsafe. read more

Every time we have went to this store the prices that are advertised are not what the product rings up and th they refuse to honor. example yesterday we went there and they had a full rack of cover alls marked at 59.97 big sign on the rack, when we went to the register they rang up at 130.00. So I showed them their signe sign and the fact that they were all the same on the rack but manager absolutely refused to honor the sale. So I walked out will not return and I hope word of mouth brings bad business to them. read more

I received terrible customer service a from an employee at the gun counter. The man did not respond to anything I said to him regarding which type of gun I was looking for or considering. He did not look at me or say any words, even after I made several attempts to start a conversation. He seemed off put by me, and since his demeanor was this way since the moment I walked up to the counter, I'd say it's safe to assume it was due to my appearance. Grand opening day at Cabela's smelled of testosterone mixed with the aroma of freshly roasted nuts. Yes, Cabela's sells freshly roasted nuts from a cart near the deli/cafe which is right next to the archery department. It's not just a store. It's the Disney World of the hunter, boater, fisher, camper, and archer. The 105k square-foot showroom includes a mammoth display of taxidermy. There are more mounted animals at Cabela's than summertime sees on Ted Turner's ranch. Bears, sheep, alligators, you name it. Stuffed and posed, persuading you to buy ammo and camo. And there is plenty of camo at Cabela's. I saw more camo in my quick 30 minute sweep of the store than I have probably seen in my entire life. With all that camouflage, I'm surprised I even found my way through the store. On grand opening day, the parking lot was full and shoppers were directed to an off-site lot to take a shuttle to the store. I saw a long line of people waiting for the shuttle both on my way into the store and again on my way out. Police vehicles used several lot spaces as did a couple of small trailers for equipment demos. The only thing missing was Mickey with his big white gloves pointing to the entrance. If you don't have an outdoor hobby yet, just head over to Cabela's, the epicenter of most things outdoors, and look around. If you've always wanted to go camping, just stop in, pick out your tent, sleeping bag, MREs, portable grill, grab a kayak, and off you go. You can even pick up a motorboat if that makes you happy. The next happiest day of your life may be the day you sell it but you may catch some fish in between. Cabela's will sell you all the hooks, lines, and sinkers you could ever imagine. read more

Cabella's is just another Bass Pro Shop and I am sure the same as a Field and Stream store. Take the signage down from in front and no one would know the difference. Was their a huge variety of outdoor equipment? Sure was. Was it priced the same as everywhere else? Sure was. Do they have a House Brand? Sure do. It's clean, there is a wide variety of everything and the staff is available to answer questions. Good experience, good store, nothing unique. read more

This place is so big and offered everything you need for the outdoors!! This visit the staff was not as friendly as in the past. We had to hunt down a staff member and then he made us feel like we were bothering him. It wasn't too crowded. A lot of customers were without masks which I don't get. There is a sign clearly stating masks must be worn but no one was enforcing it. I do enjoy all the animal displays when I go there. I should have known better after my first experience but went back a few weeks later to look again and the rude "I've had my cwp for 2 months i know everything there is to know " gun salesman are always talking to each other so you have to interrupt them to get service. Anyways once i did i asked about the new FN reflex and asked his opinion of the hammer fired system. (The whole selling point and focus of this pistol is hidden hammer in the slide ) he tells me 3 times I'm wrong even takes it apart and says "see look striker fired" so i walked away to look at the used gun section while i found the article online and when i got back he said ahh man you were right visible not happy about it. So i say ring it up I'll take it in black. He has me fill out paperwork but before sending it in calls his manager over and his manager says he couldn't sell me a fire arm because i had the same mailing address and looked at the same one a week ago with my girlfriend who lives with me and is legally able to purchase and own firearms but decided not to buy it that day. Went 5 min down the road to TAC and was out the door in 20 min with the same gun for $60 cheaper . Some retail manager who is most likely terrified of even walking near the gun section decided Cabelas wasn't going to sell to me for fear of straw purchasing .. Walmart with guns basically they know NOTHING so don't waste your time The best part was the buzzed haircut military but not looking guy at the gun counter delayed my question for 5 min while he tried to Brag about how he wears his "armor" around the house and works out by flipping tires with it on in his back yard. Cabela's definitely is a fun place to shop at, one can easily get lost in a maze of fun outdoor gear. They have tons of options for almost every outdoor adventure you may be trying. I was very disappointed in the hammock section though. My friends have been looking for ENO hammock gear for a while and although they did have some items, it was a sad and very small amount. If they want to attract a younger crowd they are going to have to carry more hammock gear then that. My husband asked an employee where the bottle openers were and was told they didn't have any, after searching ourselves we ended up finding a ton of them scattered around the store, the employee was either not trained well or didn't feel like being bothered by us so make sure to double check if they say they don't have an item. A very similar experience happened the same day: my friend asked for a life vest in a size that wasn't out on the shelves and an employee got one for her, when my husband asked another employee later for a life vest in another size, the employee said that they keep all the items on the shelves so if it wasn't there, they did not have it. read more

It's been almost impossible to buy ammunition! I paid $86 for a box of 50 9mm hollow point bullets at the Miami gun show back in January 2021. That same box retails for $18.99! I'm here in North Carolina visiting family and have been calling every gun store and sporting goods store within 40 miles of my family's home. Today was my lucky day! I called Cabela's and was told that there was a truck that was being unloaded. They didn't know what was on the truck or when the truck would be unloaded. I was told it could be a couple of hours. I immediately asked my nephew to take me there! I figured I had a great chance of getting some being as though the truck was there after they already opened and was not unloaded! After a 40 minute drive we arrived. I spoke to John who knew nothing of the truck being there and he stated it could take hours or days before the items are stocked. That didn't sit well with me so I asked to speak to a manager. He referred me to Nick who wasn't a manager. When I ask Nick to speak to a manager he ask what did I need. When I explained the situation he too didn't know of the truck being there. I again insisted on speaking to a manager. When the manager Wade came over I explained. I told him that both my nephew are in need of 9mm bullets. He went in the back and came back with 4 boxes which is the most one person can buy. I reminded him that my nephew also wanted to purchase and he said that only 4 boxes were delivered in the whole truck. I kinda found that hard to believe for such a big sporting goods store and based on my research of their past deliveries of 9mm bullets. I really hope Wade was being honest. My toddler enjoys coming here to look at the animals and cool waterfall display. We especially love Santa's Wonderland around Christmastime! You can't beat a free picture with a warm, friendly Santa Claus. It's expensive but it's a fun little trip to the store and the employees are very friendly. read more

As an Asian woman, I'm used to not being taken seriously at tackle shops and big box fishing/hunting stores. Sometimes I get a fair bit of condescending attitude (looking at you, Oklahoma City). Happily, this was not one of those places. Instead, it was the best experience I've ever had while shopping for fishing gear. Every single person with whom I interacted here was super friendly and over the top nice. I had a return from a Cabela's in another state and the young man at the counter (Jackson, I think) was incredibly helpful and friendly. Then when I was wandering through the fishing aisles looking for a very specific brand of hook holder, the folks working that section were quick to approach me and ask if I needed help. Even other customers wanted to chit chat about fishing. For a big box store, this place sure has a ton of small town feel going for it. Whoever is managing this store seems to be doing a good job keeping morale high and employees happy. I'll definitely be stopping by here on all future road trips to the south. read more

Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops have merged into one large store with plenty to choose from. This location is large​ but not as large as other locations. However, it serves the purpose of perhaps what you need for the great outdoors. The staff is friendly but often scarce or minimal, especially on weekends when the store becomes crowded. Do expect a lengthy​ checkout process because typically only two lanes are open at any given time. A significant problem with this store is mismarked prices. The price you see posted in either clothing or other Cabela's accessories may be significantly higher when scanned during checkout and not reflective of the posted price. Thus perhaps why a long line? I have experienced mismarked prices on typically each visit to the store generally from $5 to nearly $30 variance. While customer service will correct the issue, the in-store process generally is slow and somewhat cumbersome. Stores have a responsibility to make sure their pricing is accurate. This is why stars have been reduced because of ​​habitual price problems. A good repeat customer experience should reflect attention to detail in quality, service, and reliability of products and service. Cabelas must step up to address these severe issues before its fined by NC ​state law. Therefore, buyer beware at the register. Plenty of parking, minimal food services, clean restrooms, and a beautiful fish aquarium for all to see. I love the store. I fish and hunt and target shoot and cycle and run and hike and love the great outdoors. There is something for everyone at Cabelas. I like the fishing selection but I also like the clothing and outerwear and gear choices. The reason for the 5 stars is the guy that helped me make a return today. He remembered me from when I came through his line the day after Christmas. You may have beef with Cabelas as I know many shooters and hunters are VERY picky and opinionated but hey it's the Walmart of hunting stores. Cabela's opened the new Garner store today 4/16/2015 to the public! I've been to several Cabela's around the U.S. and this one seems to be one of the smaller ones and the aisles seemed narrow. It could just be that opening day was mobbed but the other ones have a much larger open floor plan with a centralized "mountain" filled with different stuffed animals on display while this one has animals spread throughout. The firearms counter and selection seems small compared to Bass Pro or Field and Stream. Also note that firearms and ammo are priced kind of high so be sure to catch the sales! Very large selection of outdoor gear including camping, hunting, fishing, and even boats! Excellent outdoor store with lots of cool things to look at! They even have a cafe/deli so you could spend an afternoon there! It's Disneyland for adults! read more

Wow I'm surprised at the 1 star reviews! I'm no hunter or fisherman, but you would have to agree, this place is impressive! When i walked in I stood beneath the Deer and Elks and took in the huge stone fireplace big enough for 10 people to stand upright inside of, and the fire inside was burning. Its November 8th and they had a nice Christmas display in front of it, near the big overstuffed chairs in the lobby. Once you get past that you'll see something for every serious outdoorsman/woman. I saw Tents, sleeping bags, more fishing rods than I've ever seen in my life (like Jen N. said!), Toys for kids which were all Hunting/Fishing/Big-Truck related, awesome clothes for Men, Women, and Kids, Hiking Boots, hats, gloves, Kayaks, full sized Boats, I'm sure I'm missing a ton of things besides the guns and ammo too. They even have a Cafe! Like Jean K. said, its the Disney World of the American Outdoorsman! Oh and the Customer Service was great, there was no shortage of employees in the store who were willing to help answer questions and point me in the right direction. I found some nice clothes but they were on the pricey side. But you get what you pay for and the quality of the clothing was excellent. Name brands like Columbia, and Cabella's own brand name, among others. I may not be back because I don't hunt or fish, but if I did I'd totally dig this place. read more

I bought lifetime Cabela's fishing poles and had an issue and they said they don't sell that brand anymore so kick rocks. It's not my fault you don't sell the brand anymore but if it's lifetime warranty then you should honor it or trade it for comparable. Manager is an complete jerk. The store is huge so at 915 we are still looking in the back of the store and we turn around to an employee who says "we're closed" in the rudest way. Customer service is the least of their priorities. I bought a shot gun and was trying to have them send it off. I got no solutions to my issue, only reasons why I could not be helped. This is a fun place to walk around, pick up something you may want, and generally just a cool place to kill some time. However, when I went there on opening day, there was staff outside (supposedly cleaning) yelling (or talking so loud everyone within 50 feet could hear them) and joking/complaining in a very unprofessional manner. They carried on like this for the entire time I was out there (over 30 minutes). My grief with the store comes from my recent experience of buying a boat from them. You know the most expensive thing they sell. I got absolutely zero customer service, and I did all the work for them. I got the financing beforehand, told them the boat I wanted (they had it on site). I repeatedly had to initiate communications with them to find out where we were in the process. It took two weeks to finalize the sale! I was never afforded the opportunity to upgrade any options like I wanted. They wanted me to sign and leave as quickly as possible. They are the most convenient place and they had the boat I wanted in stock, at a good price so I continued the deal. I'll show more patience and buy from a smaller local dealership next time. I have to admit, Cabela's is not necessarily my kind of store. But, I'm all about unbiased opinions on reviews, so let's start with the main attractions... If you're looking for any kind of fishing rod, this is the place to be. I swear they must have thousands! If you're looking for hunting gear, and by that I mean rifle, pistols, and camouflage, you'll find all of your needs met by Cabela's. I've never seen so many guns in all my life. They have aisles of ammo and huge gun safes. They even have a museum-like room with antique rifles. They have an amazing assortment of bows and arrows and an indoor archery range to test the products. Yes, there is a section for your "at home butcher shop" with slicers and grinders. And, you can get your hunting and fishing licenses right there on the spot. There is a nice section of camping gear, tents, and sleeping bags along with some really interesting and handy items. They also have boats! Lots of fishing boats and a couple of pretty cool pontoon boats. You'll find outdoor apparel by Northface and Columbia as well as lots of hiking boots and hats. The entry way is pretty dazzling. High ceilings with taxidermied animals... moose, mountain lion, billy goats, even a gator among many others. At the end of the hallway entry, there is a mountainside fountain and fish tank. Upon entry, guns must be checked. The staff members are incredibly friendly. (The man checking in the guns is a little gruff, but I imagine you would have to be.) Everything was clean and organized despite the tremendous inventory. Even though most of the products are not for me, I did find a really great cotton pullover and hubby found a nice fitting pair of jeans at a great price.
