Walking into the store. I thought I was going to be overwhelming by their selection, but after wandering around the store. I managed to find the outdoor gear I was looking for. The store has a great selection of food and Christmas gear, which I was surprised by their massive selection. I definitely would recommend if you were doing a birthday or Christmas gift shopping. There is a row just dedicated to beef jerky! (see pictures). Camping gear has a vast selection to choose from. I had the fortunate opportunity to have an associate Chad? help me with finding the right hunting pouch that I can easily strapped on. He was courteous and very knowledgeable in helping me determine the right product I was looking for. He even managed to help me with a future purchase on optics and demoed several products for me, even outside the store to give me a full understanding of how the product works, the terminology used in optics and what I should be looking for in a purchase. Stopped in here to get turkey shells....they were out. Really liked the choice of women's clothing and the fact that it was less expensive than our sporting goods store at home. Used the restroom while there and they were very clean. We did find this cute shirt for our newest granddaughter. Wunder checked us out and was very friendly and a great conversationalist. read more

Customer Service: Fail. This Cabela sold me an expensive Lucke Duck Game Call $300-400 price range. The product had been returned previously, didn't realize this until I drove an hour back home. I specifically drove down for this product and they held it behind counter for me. Product remote was damaged as well. Pat in customer service was polite and professional but could not handle my return. I was hoping they would be considerate for the inconvenience this was. Kerry the manager is incompetent. Why? I am joyed to see Cabela's of Augusta has booming sales. So good infact that the can afford to loose a $1,000.00 sale. At the gun counter I was looking at a pistol with a trigger lock on it as all of the guns in the display. I get it. Three clerks behind the counter one other customer besides me. I asked the clerk if he would remove the lock so I could manipulate the thumb safety, the trigger and rack the slide and check barrel to slide fit. The trigger lock covered the front of the trigger guard with it's rough edges. Really you can't unlock the trigger guard for a seriously potential buyer? I'm glad business is so good. read more

I placed on online order on 6/1/2020 since the local Cabelas did not have what I wanted in stock (not unusual since they were bought out). Today is 6/4/2020 and I logged in to check on my order and found that Cabelas canceled my order. I received no notification that my order was being canceled, nor is there anything documented on the order page as to why my order was canceled. I decided to give them a second try as last November I placed an online order and Cabelas changed it to On Hold with no comment or notice. I tried to get a status on that order until I finally canceled it in March 2020. I will not try buying from Cabelas again. I only tried because I was given some gift cards that I wanted to use. I hope that this serves as a warning to others and prevents someone else from going down this same road. read more

We took our three year old today to see Santa. He was so excited to see Santa and tell him what he wanted for Christmas. And of course he does a three year old thing and freak out when he sees him. The Santa was overall very nice and understanding and tried his best to get our son to smile. He was insisting we be in the photo with our son but I wasn't game on that. The photographer took like 10 photos (just pushed the button). They pick the best one. I just happen to think it was the worst one. He looked horrified. I would of took any other photo but the one I got. I understand it free but it definitely not going to be a photo we send or hang up this year. I was hoping not to have to pay for the mall Santa but it looks like that is what we will have to do. Got a free cup with the photo though! That was cute! read more

What do you say about a store like this ....... overpriced ! Yes. I never feel like I have had an enjoyable shopping experience. More often than not they haven't had the one thing I've gone in there to get. Although the staff are pleasant enough I can't help but feel like I am inconveniencing them when I ask for assistance. Cabela's Outpost is well...Cabela's. They usually have good deals on bulk ammo, but today was a simple task. Find Sea-to-Summit replacement buckles for my backpack and you would think this would be a fairly simple task. As I walked in, I am looking around for assistance and I walk toward a young lady at the cash register (cell phone glued in hand) and ask for the item as stated above. She proceeds to point me in the direction of Camping and states that I would be able to find it over there(Over there is HUGE!!!). I proceed to said location and see a sign that says Camping and I see camping chairs, camping axes, camping cookwear, nothing in the realm of backpacking. After I go around and around for about two aisles, I see two employees on the floor in the corner just chatting it up (No, can I help you?, Are you looking for something, Sir?). At this time, I am wondering what a dog is thinking chasing it's tail, but I digress. By this time, I being birddogged, by LPs and I am like really...really! After about 20 minutes trying to find my Sea-to-Summit replacement buckles I was about to give up when I found them located on a small section on a wall. Look at said buckles, trying to see if they match my broken ones, LP looks a me, I look at him and proceed to pay for my purchase at the front. Here is the kicker, the buckles are proprietary and did not work with my gear, BUT I will get my $8.95 on return. read more

My friend and I drove down to Augusta from Lake Murray to check out the fishing equipment and Fish Finder/Chart plotter selection so he could put some hands on time with the units to familiarize him with them because he is buying one soon. We were very disappointed with the size of the store and quantity of fishing supplies in stock. The Academy Sports in Columbia SC, has a better supply on hand than this store. I didn't realize that this was a downsized version of a real Cabelas and if I had I wouldn't have made the trip. On particular rod that I wanted to check out was the Cabelas "Whuppin' Stick" and they didn't have any that were even close to what I was looking for because they had a very limited variety in stock. I wasn't aware until today that cabelas was purchased by bass pro shops. Since the last time I was here the whole store has been changed and they now have severely limited camo selection, smaller rifle accessory selection and a large portion is now devoted to home decor and trinkets. I'm very disappointed in the new changes and will most likely not be back. read more

GREAT OPTION FOR THE OUTDOORSMAN/WOMAN! This store is very large but very open and very well organized with a dark cool ambiance. It has a great deal of outdoor equipment and gear for fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Great clothing for men and women focused on comfort and function. My husband had looked at several places for a specific gun case so when I suggested that we stop here, he was all about it. He quickly found what he needed and was very pleased with the quality and price. There was a minimal wait in line so we were able to check out quickly and easily. read more

I felt that wow..a big name store in Augusta? Kinda disappointed, Ill tell you why. Over two weeks ago bought a pistol for my wife. Good price for a local purchase..not the best but ok. Same day ordered a pistol that had to be shipped from another store. was told 7 to 10 days. That's acceptable,but its over two weeks and when I call or visit to ask on the status nobody knows anything. Yesterday, I called and was told that only the manager can check the order status. That's cool..was told the Manager is on break..sorta ok with this, and left my phone number to call after they got back from break. Never heard back..bought the pistol elsewhere at a lesser cost. Long storey short Cabelas Augusta lost a 800.00 sale. I understand they might sill be in training, ill still by ammo, or items on sale and compare pricing..but customer service needs a lot of improvement read more

.This place is great for your outdoor needs. I have heard people comment they feel the prices are high but I will argue that you are getting considerably more for your money. The items here are of much better quality than you will be getting from any of the other large local suppliers. I will also say that they have great customer service. You don't have to walk around aimlessly hoping you will run into a floor employee, and then hope that they wont run away once they spot you. For me they have a great selection of grilling/smoking needs with several different types of wood chunks. They also have a great selection for your camping needs. The absolute worst Cabelas I have ever visited. Am a frequent Cabelas customer. So frequent, I am a black card holder. I have been snubbed at this store more often than not. Staff is more worried about flirting with each other than they are helping the customers. Am from Nebraska so I know what the true Cabelas experience feels like. This place is not it. The store is small and the staff is ignorant and unhelpful. It's only redeeming quality is it shares a parking lot with Costco so I didn't waste the drive. read more

Guided me on everything I needed and ensured I was taken care of and had what I needed. Garbage gun counter if you ever try to sell a weapon. Tried to tell me that a weapon I have never fired or used was beat up and was in rough shape. It sat under my bed for six months and collected dust. Most of the people just finished taking a course in gun appraisals and just don't now what they are talking about. read more

Husband bought a set of 6 goose decoys. Got home and it had 5 in it. Called the store and they had sold him the last box which they had removed one goose from for display. Probably would have been a good idea to somehow label the box so they would be aware of this when a customer purchased if. After calling they said they said the goose decoy had been set aside with my husbands name on it to be picked up. So a few days later I show up. Nobody has a clue what I am talking about except one girl. She went to her managers office and came back with a post-it note with my husbands name and "goose decoy" written on it. Well nobody knew which display goose decoy was the one that belonged with the set we bought. I didn't bother to check before going because they said they had set it to the side already. Well, they hadn't done that. Left with no goose. Third trip back, I bring the receipt. It took 5 employees and 45 minutes to walk out of the store with the goose we paid for 2 weeks before. Never, ever again will I shop here. Employees were very nice but also very useless. I live an hour away and it was very inconvenient to keep driving back and forth. read more

Terrible customer service experience. First I was racially profiled, I came into the store and was picking up an online purchase but before I even gotten to the firearms section I was being questioned and followed by 3 employees. I didn't feel comfortable at all. Next I went to the firearms counter and told the employee politely that my purchase has arrived and would like to pick it up please. The employee then asked for my license to carry permit, I told the employee I don't have a carrying permit and do not wish to carry a concealed weapon. The employee then asked for Identification. I showed the employee 2 forms of Identification, state, and military. The employee then told me to show PCS orders and that I am not eligible to purchasing the firearm. So I generously asked for a refund but then I was told "The people who does the refunds aren't here come back tomorrow." So tomorrow comes and I give the store a call to see if the refund people are there, and I was told no they aren't there so give them another call tomorrow again. The next day after I called to see if they were there and I was left on hold, so I called corporate and told them about the issue. Corporate then told me it'll be faster if the return was done in store and that they recommended me to do that. I immediately contacted the store and asked to speak to a manager and told them about the issue of not being assisted for a refund. The manager simply asked me to verify the order number, and address etc, then told me a refund has been issued but they don't know when it'll arrive back to my account. It's been 3 weeks now and I still haven't gotten a refund yet. I will never do business with Cabela's again and I recommend anyone who is of ethnic culture not to. read more

I had the opportunity to visit this particular location on, 5/18/2015. I went with a friend to see what this particular location had in reference of, Firearms, Sun Glasses (Particularly, Costa Del Mar), Clothing, OutDoor Supplies, Knives, Optics, and more. When I write a review of a store I like to look at the entire store, not just one particular area, because thats not what makes the store a 4-5 star store. When we arrived at this location, I immediately notices that its an (Out-Post) not a full sized cabbala's. This just means that its not as big, also, it doesn't have the same amount of items that a normal store would have. Based on this size of this particular store, I have nothing but good things to say. I found what I was looking for when I arrived. I was on a mission for some Costa Sung Glasses, they had exactly what I was looking for, even though they didn't have too big of a section. The next stop for me was the gun cabinet. I wanted to see what they carried, as far as the different brands, and also the quality of the firearms. I am pleased to say, they have a top notch gun selection. I am an HK lover. I have always purchased HK weapons. They had a great selection of HK, FN, Colt, Springfield, and more. Although I didn't see Kimber there, but that didn't upset me one bit. I then headed over to the knife counter. Thier section of knives was very limited, they didn't have a huge selection at all. The knives they did have was a lower line of Benchmade, SpiderCo, and some other cheap knives. I love nice things, I got for things that are well made, made in the USA, and well built. I am sorry to say, they had none of those things. This is the reason I gave them 4 stars and not 5. TO me, if you are building a location such as cabbalas, you should have top notch everything. You never place HK, FN, and other top notch manufactures in a location with 10 dollar knives, NEVER! Absolutely horrible experience. If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a pistol online and selected Cabela's as the pick up site. They're supposed to contact you to come pick up. When I called to see if they had my pistol, a different department answered the phone and then tried to connect me. When they didn't answer, whoever did told me the gun counter was busy and to just come in. When I got there, a rude, cross-eyed older gentleman just repeatedly said, " They will call you" without explaining why they cannot give me the pistol that I paid for and had the tracking information showing they signed for it. The next day I spoke to a nicer gentleman who also couldn't tell me where my pistol was. I had planned on buying my ammunition, holsters, extended magazines, and all other accessories from them, but not now. They've been rude and negligent in the handling of my firearm and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY PISTOL. Never again in life will I deal with Cabela's. read more

I saw negativity and was blown away so I thought I needed to put in my two cents worth. We are so fortunate to have this store here in Augusta. We visit often and the store has a lot to offer. If you don't find it in the store, they immediately have always offered to order for us and it comes in quickly. Once we received a wrong part on a meat grinder and it did take a couple of customer service reps to help us out but other than that, we've never had a problem with finding someone to help us out with anything! Love the store, it's beautiful, we are lucky to have it and it's definitely upscale and even if you're the non-hunting sportswoman to the avid guy, I always find something really nice to browse around and purchase. This store charges RIDICULOUS prices due to it's own incompetence. I tried to purchase a used pistol at this store. When I was told the price I noticed they were asking $700 over what Colt had as retail price for a brand NEW pistol. I was overheard complaining loudly on the phone to my friend and was stopped by an employee and told they would price match, however when they found out the difference in price they refused. I then demanded to speak to the manager. He too told me they would price match until he saw the difference in price. He then told me he could not since the gun was used. He explained that a buyer overpaid for the gun. I then asked him "So, you are going to try to sell it to a customer who does not understand the true value of the gun for $794 more (what a local dealer offered to sell for if ordered) than it can be purchased new? What kind of business ethics is that?" All I got was an "I'm sorry" with no explanation of their lack of ethics. I'm one and done with these crooks. read more
