Wouldn't normally comment but the rating for this store are way below the 4 or 5 experiences I have had there. Not sure why folks care that it's "not big". It carries everything I have gone to look for and I have learned to check the national website first for the unannounced sales items that have saved me a lot!. The staff, while new, are great folks. The ammo, camping gear and register staff are all excellent even if I do object to being asked my date of birth to buy ammo. As a note, I don't think anyone mistakes me for being under 21... I still prefer the Edmond Summit Company and Backwoods over on N May for higher quality specialized items, but this place adds to the variety available on items that I look for. read more

For people like my fiance that love the outdoors, Cabela's comes pretty close to heaven. And even for those like me who are not super outdoorsy, it's still pretty cool. We were pretty excited when we found out that one opened here in OKC and had to check it out! Like others have mentioned, it's not very big, especially if you've been to another Cabela's. I've only been to the one in Fort Worth, but that one is huge compared to the one here. This one doesn't have as many of the fun rooms that make you feel like you're at more than a store, but a cool store-museum hybrid (the gun room is pretty neat though). I've spent a good couple hours just walking around and looking at everything at the other one, whereas here my fiance and I were done seeing everything in about 20 minutes. Womp womp. The parking lot is also pretty small. It took us a little time to find a spot, especially given that they're still getting the "grand opening" crowds. It looks like they may be expanding the parking lot, but it would've been nice if that was done before the grand opening. With all that said, I don't think it deserves the horrible ratings it's been given so far. It's still a Cabela's and it's a good option aside from Bass Pro, especially for those of us on the north side of town who don't feel like driving all the way to Bricktown and messing with the crowds there. And if you've been to another Cabela's, just think if it as a "Cabela's Lite" and you won't be as disappointed. read more

This place has honestly gone downhill since the merger. Why go to the small version of bass pro when it's realistically right down the road. The bargain cave is nothing more than an extra place to put random junk similar to a Marshals or a TJ Max and good luck finding anything discounted in there lately. I also own a tracker boat but for whatever reason I cannot use my VIP card there. Finally good luck asking for any help at 6pm on Tuesday (not busy) but the staff are obviously too busy. read more

Since merging with Bass Pro, Cabela's is no longer a store for hunters but rather fisherman. I was not a Bass Pro shopper and now I will not be a Cabela's customer even with being a Club Member. They have a larger selection of children's hunting gear than women's. The SHE line is poor quality and has not lasted even a season. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED in this store, their management team and customer service!!!! read more

Only give 2 stars for the awesome associates at the gun counter. The ASSociate at the order counter doesn't know how to treat a paying customer or answer a simple question as to why an item that is literally stocked on the shelf 99% of the time isn't available for me to pick up yet. ordered a cooler for $300 showed up damaged, they can't replace it and told me it will take $60 days to refund my money. They wouldn't offer another in replacement for the same cost. And then when I went to return it, they wanted to charge me $8! NEVER will I purchase anything from them again. Amazon is the only way to go. read more

The only bright spot in the entire store is the young woman with the long blonde braid working in optics. She went above and beyond to assist my husband in choosing a monocular. She is 5 star! Unfortunately the rest of the store and employees are 1 star or below. My husband needed to buy new hunting boots. There were 3 workers in the boot department all visiting with each other and talking about where to have lunch. They completely ignored us and the other customers. Ammo selection by the case is lacking. No .20 gauge at all. We'll bypass this Cabelas and go to the one in Dallas or Bass Pro. We bought a Dogtra collar and it took 4 employees to figure out how to get the anti theft thing off! read more

NOT IMPRESSED/DISAPPOINTED The store is clean and organized as it should be...its new. The problem I had on my first and ONLY visit was the staff. No greeting, not particularly friendly, and most did not offer any help. I stood around at the firearms counter for several minutes before the youngest person offered assistance. All of the other older salesmen just ignored me. I don't know if it was because it was 2 hours before closing and they were tired or OTHER things. Also, I am retired military. Bass Pro offers a 10% discount for military. This covers the taxes and is helpful. Cabelas only discounts 5%...which isn't nothing but pretty much considering our sales tax in OKC is over 8%. for that I can shop online or at Tinker. I was so disgusted with the staff that i put the Columbia jacket that i was going to purchase back on the rack and will buy it elsewhere. Cleanliness: A Organization: B Staff: F....no excuse for not being friendly and not attending to your customers Military Friendly: D-...the discount is only to say they have one Store Size: D...poor effort Inventory: C...nothing you cant get at Bass Pro, Academy, or a local mom and pop shop. I took my boat to them for repair. I knew they would overcharge for the service and parts but I figured it would be worth it to know it would be done right being they are the service center for suntracker boats. I had been working on this boat for 2 years. A complete remodel of everything I was able to do myself. For the mechanical part I trusted Cabela's to complete it. When I got my boat back there was trash all over it from the parts, my brand new carpet had grease stains all over it. I was frustrated but let it go. I detailed it the best I could but you can still see the mess. Then I get it on the water. Radio and most electrical stuff doesn't work. Upon further inspection they had cut wires or pulled wires loose/out while running new throttle and control cables. I am so mad I could spit but I won't because of covid I have to wear a stupid mask. I paid 1000 dollars for something I could have had done for half anywhere else. Now when it's too hot to work on the boat I am going to have to have the stereo and speakers re wired. I love going here and just browsing. For an outdoorsman, it's like paradise. Generally, I like the way the store is layed out and their selection is always top notch. For me, it's usually a fun place to go. So why not 5 stars? Because the staff is too helpful, yes that's right, too helpful. I know it sounds crazy and I know it seems like there is no pleasing me, but in one 30 minute visit, I promise I will be asked no less than 15 times if I'm doing ok or how I can be helped. Maybe lots of other people are confused by looking at items on a shelf or a rack, picking out the one they want to buy and taking it to the register to purchase, therefore requiring an insanely over-helpful staff. That's not me. Maybe once in any given set of 10 visits, I might need to ask someone a quick question about the location of an item, but that's it. It's actually quite comical (and infuriating) to go here and just keep count how many times you are hounded by overly helpful staff. Try it sometime, you will see what I mean. I know it sounds like a weird thing to complain about, but I'm being honest, it drives me nuts. Oh additionally, they have started manning a table right in the front walkway trying to get you to sign up for their club. This table has anywhere from 2-3 staff full time manning it and they make their mission to greet and engage every customer coming and going. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I don't go to a store in hopes of small talk conversation with a stranger. As matter of fact, I want the exact opposite. I don't want to talk to anyone while I'm there, especially right as I walk in the door. Nonetheless, I keep coming back, because despite the extremely annoying staff, I like the place, products and atmosphere. If a staff member or manager is reading this, please take the staff to customer engagement level down a few notches, it's driving us away. read more

Where to start.... We went to by a scope, after looking waiting for about 15 just to get someone to help we looked at two. After giving those to back I went to look at another. When I looked up the guy was gone. After waiting another 10 minutes I finally got someone else to help us. Looked a one more and said I'd take it. The guy walked in the back. After 15 minutes or so I got the attention of someone else. They finally got the scope for me. They are over priced with horrible service. I will keep my business with the smaller guys in Okc with better prices and customer service. Sometimes I wish more people worked off commission. Smh. read more

My experience is a bit different in that I wasn't followed around, instead I couldn't get anyone to help me. The "outfitters" were standing around talking to each other and not at all concerned with customers. I went to the knife dept. and immediately 3 kids behind the counter stopped visiting with each other and walked out leaving me standing there. As outdoors/hunting/fishing/gun crazy as Oklahoma can be, I was excited to finally see a Cabela's in town to compete with Bass Pro Shops. Not because I have a stake in either company's welfare, but more that I like to see some good old-fashioned competition between retail giants once in a while. When I went into Cabela's, however.... First impression: This place is way, way smaller than I had imagined it to be. Even looking at the building from the outside is deceptive. I don't know what I was expecting, but I swear the average Academy is similar in size if not bigger, let alone the Bass Pro Shops in Bricktown, which seems at least double the size. And I could be totally wrong if someone calls me out and compares square footage or something. But when I walked in the door, the first thing I noticed wasn't the animal mounts in the lobby or the greeters, it was "I'll be damned. There's the back wall of the store". There's a TON of employees there right now, which I understand, seeing as they just opened. They don't know what the rush is going to be, is there going to be a line out the door, a half hour wait at the gun counter, whatever. Fine, got it. No problem. What I don't really get is why every 15 steps somebody else was trying to pitch me on a Cabela's credit card or something else similar. That got a little uncomfortable after, I don't know, 10 seconds? I'm not kidding, I entered the store and turned right, and from the front door to the cash registers, I had 4 people mention something about the credit card to me. That's likely something that will change when the newness of the store wears off, but it was still a PITA for the time being. The other employees were friendly, wanted to help, and seemed eager to do so, which is great, but just like any other store...if you're decently familiar with what you're looking to buy, take their advice with a grain of salt. I'll leave it at that. I think that goes for any specialty retail store anywhere. Once again, someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but even the gun counter seemed like it had half the guns on display as Bass Pro Shops does. The ammo selection was better, but holy cow was it expensive (Bass Pro is expensive too, I know). Matter of fact, everything was expensive. I saw a specific gun there that I own, the particular model is probably a decade old at this point. I bought it new for $579 in 2012...three years ago. At a big box store, nonetheless. I believe it was $649 at Cabela's. Just a single example, but...damn. It's not like that model of gun came out out last month. I've seen it at other places in town as cheap as $549 now that newer models/variations have come out. I got a 50 round box of a basic range ammo the other day elsewhere in town, it was $11.99. The same box was I think $17.99 at Cabela's. Not flaming anybody, not calling Cabela's out... just saying, for whatever reason it's not cheap. I will say that they seemed to have more hunting/firearm-related stuff than their competition 15 miles south, or it was just laid out better. But actual inventory of firearms to look at/fondle, it seemed like there was less. Good things...good things. Let's see. 99% of employees were extremely friendly, even the ones trying to sell me a credit card every 40 feet. They have a TON of telescopic sights/scopes/rangefinders/etc. There's a lot of knives. It's a shorter drive for people in Edmond or north OKC. When I was there, a bunch of registers were open and there was no wait to check out. I'll be honest, I didn't mess with the fishing/boating/whatever else part of the store, as I don't have a boat and I don't fish. I did notice the clothing section of the store was strangely small too. Not a deal breaker, but still... surprising. I swear I'm not trying to hate on Cabela's and I'm not some Bass Pro manager or anything. But there's really only one thing to compare a store of this magnitude and specialty to in the OKC metro, and that's Bass Pro Shops. If I was gonna go try to kill an hour and walk around and talk myself into buying something... there's a lot more options down in Bricktown, just going off pure store inventory. And if I was gonna go with something specific and specialized in mind to buy (i.e. a firearm, I'll just say it)... I'd probably look somewhere besides either big store first, based purely on price point. But let's be honest here. I know I'll be back into Cabela's and I know they'll eventually get quite a bit of my money. This is just my two cents on a brand new store the other day. read more

I LOVE CABELA's And Bass Pro. I think they are more like an amusement place for kids. So cool of you take the time to experience it. I'm working there this holiday season and hopefully longer. It is the NICEST store to its employees I've ever been to. I've just been there one day and TRUST ME-- the biggest thing you hear is THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN STORE FOR CUSTOMERS and it's why they are successful. BTW- is young as this location is-- it's their 2nd sales-wise store in US. I promise if you had a rude employee they are GONE. EVERYONE SMILES and really wants to make CERTAIN YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. right now is pictures with the peanuts gang for Halloween pictures ( bring your dog if they're friendly for their photo too) and get ready to bring the kiddos for the Christmas play area. Come on back if it's been awhile. We buy guns in the fun library. Site in your bow. Get guns repaired and come learn about anything you need. If we don't have it we'll help you order it on the in store kiosks. It's a wonderful happy place. Deli is fantastic. And I know people cringe at credit card offers but just grab the literature and read up on it. It really is a great deal, low interest and a lot of deal for card holders. If you had a bad experience then come back and I promise you will be a fan again. read more

I bought a new Lowe pontoon last year. It was defective and took nearly all summer to fix it. Would not recommend Lowe boats.

I recently visited the Gun Library here in Oklahoma City and was very disappointed at the care a lot of the blued long guns. Not one or two but several of the what should have been nicer older guns were covered in rust. I called and spoke to someone in the Gun Library and the excuse that I was given was that this is how they were received and sometimes there is only one person there.
