Most of the places around there are full of people all dressed up getting hammered, but the Cask Corner is a great place to hang out with friends, play a board game, listen to some live music, or hear a comedian on comedy night. I've been there twice and the first time was extremely memorable. We happened to show up on the first Wednesday of the month which is comedy night. We sat through 4 mediocre comedians who mostly made fun of themselves and droll. I was slightly amused, probably more because I'm American and listening to local English comedians was funny just because of their different brand of humor. There was a main act and I am so glad we stayed for it. Jonathan Mayor performed and he was HILARIOUS. I have never seen a comedian in person who was so funny, and this was free entrance! The beer selection is interesting and the decor is definitely a conversation piece. The high ceilings make it feel open. The bathrooms are on the second floor and they don't always work, as I witnessed when I walked in on the barman and a lady in a lovely green dress with a long stick plunging the ladies toilet. Always something interesting going on in the Cask Corner. There's a great mix of different seating options as well as a pool table. Overall, a great addition to Doncaster town center.

We often visit Doncaster from the States, as my husband is from there. When we go we spend sometimes weeks in the town and we eat out a lot. The Cheswold is our go-to place. Our friends in Doncaster laugh when we tell them how often we eat there, but they don't understand! I think the Cheswold is a great value for what you get. We often get their Fish and Chips which is really good! The other entrees are also good, but the fish and chips is my favorite. The desserts are good too. The service is excellent, and that's coming from an American with high standards and expectations. The servers are quick and always check on us throughout the meal. The people at the bar where you order are always friendly. We usually sit in the bar, but there is a 'dining room' to the right as you walk in and it serves a different buffet each night. There is also a children's play area. The Cheswold also offers free WiFi, as do most pubs around England. The WiFi here is very slow. It's the one thing I would like to see improved. Overall, I'll be back again and again for a reasonably priced good meal.

Service is pretty slow and getting our bill at the end was near impossible. I had to go find our waitress to pay. Our pizzas took a long time but were pretty good. The menu is quite large and there are several things to choose from. We also got some fries with cheese and bacon on them. They were very mediocre. The cheese was very low quality, if it was even cheese. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was pretty good, but not spectacular. It seems like "ok but not great" is the theme of my visits. Good and free WiFi. Clean restaurant. Decent but not great food.

Starters taking around 40minutes to get to us, mains an hour after that and we asked for the bill several times and it took an hour to come. I wish they would also change the milkshakes back to the way they us to be with ice cream. The only other bad point I have is I went for my birthday last year with family for breakfast and there were several items including hash browns that they didn't have in. However I will never fault the food, I have had many items from this restaurant and they are all delicous. The Mixed grill was amazing and cooked to perfection, it has to be the best dish on the menu. The a number of other dishes that are also a must try, sweet potato fries, mac n cheese, onion rings, calimari, calzone. The price I would say is fair, but the Frankie & Bennies app normally gives you some great discounts. I always find that the atmosphere is great at night. There is seating inside and out, however I don't believe I've ever seen anyone sit outside. The location is also perfect for a great night out, next to the Vue Cinema and SuperBowl (Bowling). Worth a visit

Service is mixed - I go fairly often and sometimes I find that the service is outstanding, other times it's barely adequate. The same is the case with the food - if it's good, it's REALLY good but if it's bad it's awful. The location is really handy - it's right next to the cinema and there's loads and loads of free parking available. It's close to the Lakeside (Yorkshire Outlet) shopping complex so ideal for lunch after a morning of retail therapy. Just don't have too high expectations!

This is a small one, but the staff are friendly and the food is really nice. I love the layout of Frankie and Benny's and all the pictures lining the walls are great fun to look at, plus if you want to learn a little italian, spend a little time in the toilets as they play Learn to speak Italian in them. My husband and I often came out of the toilets teaching each other whatever word(s) we picked up. Price wise it's pretty mid range, starter, main, desert + drinks would likely set you back £40-£50. It can be busy in the evenings as it's right next to a cinema and close to a bowling alley and leisure centre so it's a popular place to eat for people. If you are going to go in an evening, it's adventageous to try and book.

Two words; Mexican Heaven. Ok now for the rest of the words…read more Gringos restaurant, Huddersfield is one of those places that are a hidden nugget of a town, that soon becomes a little bit of a local legend. You walk in and you're greeted almost instantly by a member of staff, before you get to know your bearings, you see a brightly decorated restaurant floor. Purple and red are the colours of choice. The tables are grand wood things with matching grand wooden chairs. You're seated, and menus are delivered and drink orders taken. Scanning over the menu, there's something for everyone who's willing to try something different to pizza, pasta and curry. Don't worry if you don't know the difference between a chimichanga and an enchilada, it's all there for explanation. Personally, I decided to try the chimichanga. I was not disappointed. First I was in awe at the size of the plate. Portion size, HUGE. The gargantuan chimichanga was full of the spicy lamb filling I ordered, and there was a nice portion of refried beans and potato wedges, all tex-mexed out, naturally. I'm glad I didn't go for the starter, by the time I'd finished my absolutely tasty meal, I was packed out to the limits, as was the rest of the overstuffed and replete members of my party. There were eight of us in total, and as we had pre-booked the table, sat down, and ordered all before 7pm, and the bill was brought to us before the hour of 8, all of our mains were 241, or bogof depending on how you look at it. In my opinion it was a royal bargain. Call it £1.50 for a small coke, and the total bill price for each person was £6.50. The only down side of our eating experience was that we were so full with our yumtastic and sizeable meals that we were all unable to roll our bellies forward to fill them with deserts, which were not two for one, but were very tasty in their appeal. So pleased we were with our meal, we re-booked for a second sitting a few weeks later, this time with 12 in our party and at a later sitting time of 8pm. Again the staff were very hospitable, and the place was packed, all good testament to how good the food is. As it wasn't two for one, various bods were willing to try the steaks and specials available, again all with accompanying noises of approval. And as it was after work hours, there were indulgences into the cocktail pitchers available, and also the shooters for the more daring. The alcohol is a bit steep in price at £15.95 a pitcher, but apparently the taste warranted it. Gringos has a great atmosphere, one of those places where you feel you could spend all night and have fun in a casual environment. Beware of elbow room, so popular is the place that there isn't a lot of room for manoeuvring oneself. I say get booked and eaten for 8pm and enjoy a full belly at a great price.
