It was just the hubs and I and our pup, so we didn't really need any more room than what we had. There was a full size coffeemaker and fresh coffee, along with some snacks. My biggest issue was the lack of cleanliness. It felt like the owner (who lives about 50 feet away) may be hanging out in here regularly, which is fine, but at least hire someone to clean it before guests arrive. The main reason I stayed is because there was bad weather the first night and I didn't want my husband to have to reload all of our stuff and go find some other place. The owner seemed to be a nice guy and I didn't hate the accommodations, I just prefer it to be clean. Price was reasonable as well.

Floors and showers have not been cleaned in weeks and there is probably half an inch of dead bugs on the outside patio. Your feet crunch all the way in. Plus the outside doors do not lock and the bathroom and shower stall doors can't be locked either. Also, eliminating some of the signs at the entrance would afford a more welcoming atmosphere for campers. It's like a slap in the face when you drive in! Great fishing, lots of room, trails, beach, boat launches but hardly anyone here . This place could be a great campground and a really moneymaker if someone with experience would pay attention to some of these details and make some pretty simple changes.

Now named Cypress Grove RV Park. Had read a good review and a local recommended this place. Was…read morehoping for better. The log cabin social center is very nice. It has two large TVs, big tables and lots of chairs. It's very welcoming. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and nicely made. The laundry building is also clean. There is a large pile of debris toward the back. It looks like a dump of sorts. Behind that there was a lot of scattered trash as if animals had torn open a trash bag. It had been there a while though. Too bad because this was the most beautiful part of the park with beautiful grass and pine needle covered ground and many beautiful tall pines. The noise from the highway out front is busy and loud. There is a railroad crossing nearby. The trains blow their horns A LOT. Maybe all of this noise is less intrusive far to the back of the park where residents live. For me , staying near the front, it was too loud. I kept the AC running to drown it out and sleep was uninterrupted. The park is pretty with huge pines. The site numbers are small and very weathered so hard to see. There is a half demolished old travel trailer on the grass. One wall is completely missing. I thought maybe it was a recent project or something but clearly it had been there a long while. Even with all that, the main reason I won't go back is that in the morning I noticed a confederate flag flying in the back of the park at a permenant resident's site. It appeared to be the caretaker's site. I won't support a business which promotes the confederate flag. I understand heritage and love my German heritage. I won't be flying a Nazi flag. If this were my RV park I would clean out the trash and plant a bunch of trees in the front and/or build a 10' wall for a sound barrier and remove the confederate flag. On the plus side the people who worked there were very friendly.

I recently used the services of Rich McFarland, owner of Caddo Lake Bayou Tours to get out on Caddo…read moreLake for some photography. He was very courteous and easy to deal with, I live in Houston and our photo club wanted to come up to Caddo to see the cypress trees. Rich was very accommodating and made booking the trip easy. We met him about a half hour before sunrise and headed out in his pontoon boat. He positioned us in several spots to catch sunrise and as the sun got higher we toured a lot of the canals that snake through the cypress groves. Once back on shore we had the day to ourselves until about 4:30 in the afternoon when we went back out to take more photos and catch the sunset. In all we did 2 sunrise tours and 1 sunset which was more than enough to get some great pictures. I was a bit worried about being on a pontoon boat as to whether it would be stable for photography but it was perfect. There were 6 of us so 3 on each side of the boat and Rich maneuvered the boat so we could all get a chance for photos. I know there are a lot of lake guides on Caddo and I'm sure the are all good but I can highly recommend Rich based on our 3 tours this fall with him.

Comfortable! Michael will take you out on the lake for 1 1/2 hours, giving you the history of the lake, and telling you about the biggest bald cypress forest in the world. It really is! Glenda and I enjoyed every second of the trip. The lake and trees are absolutely beautiful. The Spanish moss is one of Mother Nature's miracles! With all the rain, the lake is 2.5 feet over normal. Saw several docks under water. Never saw an alligator, but we looked! Michael has a picture of a 14 footer! Just imagine. A 250 ft freighter starts in Jefferson, Texas, and a couple of days later is on the coast in New Orleans! Yep. This used to happen! We definitely recommend Michael 's tour. You'll enjoy it!
