I would think twice about this place. I had my two year old son on the list here and was told I had a spot in their two year old classroom. My son has autism though, and so they said I needed an aide or they would not allow him to attend. So I went through hell to get the aide set up. It took weeks and hours and hours on the phone and filling out paperwork. And then I went to tour the two year old class with my son. I told them I wanted him to be with kiddos his own age to have the opportunities to learn the skills other two year olds were learning. And everything was fine, but when I was leaving after the tour they said they had decided it was a good idea to start my son in the younger classroom, which they said was 18-36 months. Even though he had a spot in the two year old class? But then when I asked for the pricing schedule for that class, it was listed as 12-24 months. My son is two and a half. So I called back and said why are you trying to put my two year old son in a class that's not for his age when you told me there is a spot in the two year old class? And they insisted there were two year olds in the class. But when I pushed to find out exactly how many, I found out they were actually moving all of the two year olds up to the two year old class right when my son would start, so he would not have any kids the same age in that class. And they had given my spot in the two year old class away to one of those kids. So now I no longer had the spot that existed for him anymore. As if life wasn't hard enough being a parent of an autistic child. It's hard as hell. And then you have to deal with people trying to deny your kid the same opportunities as other kids. My son is a sweet, gentle little two year old boy, no behavioral issues, loves being around other kids, and he was going to have an aide for the time he was there at their insistence. And he needs the opportunity to learn the same skills other kids learn in daycare. If you have an autistic child or know anyone who has an autistic child, think carefully about which businesses you want to support and which you don't. read more

Love this school! My son started in the infant room and the infant and toddler teachers are more than welcoming, warm, and accepting of all their students. I know he is well taken care of while I'm at work and I don't worry about his safety and well-being knowing he is in great hands while I'm away. My 3 year old just started here and I'm confident he's going to like it. I went to many preschools before finally deciding on this one. I chose this one for the following reasons: Security. They have key pads for the doors and fencing all around. You aren't able to even enter the lobby without someone buzzing you in. I visited other preschools and literally anyone could walk in at anytime at some of them. Touch screen sign in and sign out. Very convenient. They are very involved and have family events often. They have an app to see your child's progress and what they did for the day along with photos. Good play structures. I went to other preschools that had babyish play structures for 4-5 year olds! Organized and clean inside. Spacious inside. I went to a preschool where all the kids seemed SUPER cramped in one room. They have the 2-3 yr olds together and 3-4yr old potty trained children in another class. My sons morning teacher is a vegetarian, he is a vegetarian so I feel confident in their knowledge to provide a balanced vegetarian diet for my son. Making the decision to start our little in daycare wasn't easy, but we knew (or at least hoped) it would be beneficial to her development, social skills, and independence. Choosing the right daycare seemed scary, and we definitely toured a couple we were not fond of. After our tour at Cadence we were impressed, and pleased. Fast forward to now, and we are so grateful we made the decision to enroll our daughter here. She started at around 12 months and is now almost 20 months, and in the older toddler room. If you are looking for a preschool for your son or daughter, look no further this is the preschool for you. We recently switched over to Cadence Academy and have never been happier. Our son's behavior did a 180! During drop off our son is waiting at the door knocking and has the biggest smile on his face as the teachers walk up to grab him and at pick up he always walks out with a smile on his face. Which means the world to us as parents as the last thing we need to worry about is if our child is happy or being cared for during the weekdays. Why should you consider switching to this preschool? 1. Cadence has a wonderful app that allows you to see your child's daily activities (naps, food, play, etc). This is a wonderful feature as you can see how your child is performing without being there in person. 2. The teachers! The day before our son started all the teachers came out to meet him. All of the teachers are fun, friendly and awesome! 3. Security. The whole preschool is gated and the doors have keypads, so no one can just walk into the preschool. Also, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and I have never felt safer than at Cadence. They only allow teachers and kiddos in the school; therefore, no parents or visitors can go in the building. They also have large signage listing symptoms that are not allowed. They have done a great job ensuring our kid's safety as well as the teachers during this 2020 year. 4. Learning. Our son was talking and communicating, but not to the degree he is now. It is huge difference. Our son is being read to and completing useful activities that are improving his motor skills as well as communication skills. 5. I could go on listing every reason why a parent or parents should consider this preschool, but my suggestion is to give them a call and see if you can tour the outdoor portion of the preschool or meet the teachers. After keeping our daughter at home during a year of COVID we felt it was time to have her attend childcare and decided on Cadence ... best decision! The staff have all been so kind and diligent regarding safety measures. Our daughter is about to turn 2 and has learned so much in the past year. She is now basically teaching us sign language :) We would definitely recommend this childcare to any one looking for a loving place that helps children achieve their milestones while having fun. read more

The 1-star review (at least the parts that were coherent) is not at all an accurate review of Phoenix School Carmichael. The reason this school is often booked up is because it's fantastic and absolutely worth the wait! Our son was at an in-home daycare until he was 10 months old, but we had to find somewhere else when that provider became pregnant. At a coworker's suggestion, I checked out Phoenix, and we enrolled. We've been at Phoenix for almost a year now, and we couldn't be happier; in fact, we're already on the list for our next kiddo, due in May! Since attending Phoenix, our son has become more outgoing and social, and he chatters all sorts of "toddlerese" at the end of the day about the fun things he did at "school." When my son tells us the list of people he loves (Mama, Daddy, etc.), he always includes one or more of his Phoenix teachers on his list. Phoenix is great about doing fun events for the kids--even the toddlers: pajama days, Halloween events, Thanksgiving lunch (parents are invited!), barbecues with jump houses during warm weather, and so on. They have a professional photographer come twice a year to take photos (in regular clothes in the fall, and in cute outfits in the spring); there's no pressure to buy any of the photos, but you get the option of buying fantastic professional shots of your kid(s) twice a year for a reasonable price. They recently enrolled in the KidReports system, so you can check in on the website (or your phone app!) to see updates throughout the day: what/when/how much your child ate at each meal and snack, every diaper change (what it was, cream applied, etc.), naps, and photos of your child at various activities. As a working mom, I'm so happy to see photos of my son playing and enjoying his day while I'm away! The classrooms have great, age-appropriate toys. The teachers have weekly lesson plans, and they do a great job. Within a couple weeks of starting Phoenix at 10 months old, my son knew a ton of baby sign language. He now knows dozens of words at 21 months old (colors, animals, animal sounds, body parts, clothing, floor/ceiling/wall, yes/no/please/thank you, up/down, some emotions, uh-oh, and more), can count to 3, and loves doing art projects. I'm sure each Phoenix School is different, but the Carmichael location is absolutely wonderful! read more

Our daughter is 2 years old and has been going to Cadence Academy since she was 4.5 months old. They staff is always so friendly and our daughter loves them! She is always so happy to go to school and see her friends and teachers. Debbie, the director is always very responsive to my new mother worries via email and phone. My kids have been enrolled at Cadence since they were 8 months old. My oldest now being 6 and my 3 yr old twins are currently there. I can't say enough good things about the staff. They have been nurturing and attentive. My twins are in Ms Danielle's class now and she has been so great with them! She's been teaching them all kinds of things including writing their names, science, and their numbers to name a few. She really prepares the kids for pre-k and on. A bonus is she understands kids as she has her own and can relate to the drop off struggle and steps right in to distract them while I leave. So thankful!! read more

My twins are now in the 3s room. My twins have been here since they were infants. Ms. Jasmine is great at art and teaching the kids to write . My twins love Ms.Jasmine ..I highly regard this school. The infant room is amazing. The toddler rooms were wonderful. Ms.Brits young twos class is a delightful and refreshing room. The Pre -K classes are wonderful. Our kids have been going here for almost four years now and they love it and so do we. The director Debi has been leading the daycare for many years now and she really ensures the kids and staff are taken care of. They have a lot of teachers that have been there for a while. My 2 and 4.5 year old attended here for a few months. We absolutely adored the staff in the 3's+ programs, especially Miss Danielle! My little guy was particularly anxious about starting a new program and she went out of her way to make sure he happily settled in and made friends. That program, always involved fun activities and enrichment opportunities. Miss Danielle, who I think is now with the pre-k class, has a passion for working with children and it's contagious! She goes above and beyond. From science to culture and geography...I've never seen so much diversity of activity and study in a preschool class. She presents it in such an age-appropriate and engaging way, the kids LOVE it and most definitely benefit from her fun approach to learning. She's positive with the kids, and at the same time, won't tolerate misbehavior. A dream teacher, in my opinion! The 2's program, on the other hand, was weak. Staff did not engage and model for the children...it was sit back and see what happens, then deal with it. The structure and programming was nearly nonexistent and the toys to engage the children were mind-numbingly repetitive and once again, not modeled and reinforced for good play skills. It did not feel good leaving my little one there. I'm not sure how two neighboring classrooms can have so much disparity, but I would not recommend the 2's program (unless there has been a complete change in staff and programming) to anyone. It makes me upset every time I think about leaving my sweet little one in the 2's classroom where the staff were seemingly indifferent to nurturing children. I've heard this from more than one other parent putting kids through that program. Kinda just hanging out and waiting for mom to show up and that's not what I expect an expensive childcare/preschool to provide. In summary, go and check it out for yourself. Ask how long the staff have been there and what their program entails. I went on the words of some friends, but there had been changes since and I regret not digging deeper when it came to where I was leaving my kids. We lucked out with the 4.5yr and I know he had a hard time leaving his fun class, but they are NOW BOTH in a nurturing and engaging environment and that's what every parent wants. read more

I don't think the person giving the tour & responding to emails should be in charge of that. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have kids either. Lexus or Paris was her name maybe. I originally had a 1:30 appt to see the school. With all the stress of finding a new day care for my daughter I took the day off to go in the am instead. When I arrived it was the least enthusiastic of greetings. When I was filling out the paperwork to see the school she kept asking are u done? Are u done? By the 2nd time I smirked. All she said was oh ok. No questions about my daughter other than her age & her name. As I was taking a tour I told her the school looked like my daughters first day care. No reaction. She she well let me show I their curriculum then we can go outside. When we went outside there was about 3 different classrooms of different ages. None of the teachers said hello to me. Then the lady said any other questions. Let's go back inside. To make it worse she said so we r full but taking applications! is that a joke? There was no mention when I changed the appt time or before the tour that they're full in the 2-3 year old class til June 2017!!!!!!! I'm like lady I took the day off y did u have me come in? It shud be in the email that I needed care ASAP. Her response? Oh. I didn't read the email! what a frickin joke this lady! I tried to make a classy exit but there's a special button to get out. Do yourself a favor & find another school. If they're this impersonal & unprofessional at first glance I can't imagine how they r without u there. read more
