It's a perfect size - not so big that you lose sight of your children, but not so small that older children don't get any fun out of it. In fact, school-age children love it, and there's also a baby/toddler room for the littlies. There are trampolines, big slides, tunnel slides and climbing ropes, plus a mini football pitch. Oh, and books to read and a dressing-up box! Prices are reasonable and you can pay for everything (including food, drink and snacks) at the end as you leave, which is very convenient. I'd like to specially highlight the fact that the food at Quackers is very healthy - party food includes carrot and cucumber sticks with hummus, and snacks range from jacket potatotes to wholemeal sandwiches (although white ones are available too). It's little extra touches like this that make Quackers worth visiting regularly.

Everything is gaming themed, with the downstairs having a range of different gaming stations to play on from the old to the new including the n64 and newer gaming platforms such as the switch and VR. The rooms look very well finished, even down to the toilet upstairs having controllers hanging from the ceiling. Limited drinking options and a little bit on the pricier side but for what you get, it's not bad at all. The staff are very friendly and overall very welcoming atmosphere, would go again with a party or group of friends.

You can either have a general play session which lasts at least 2 hours (exhausting), they do birthday parties, parent and toddler sessions and they even have an Over 16's night every Tuesday. It was once tidal and reading will and inventories for here shows it was a prosperous place, full of yeoman farmers and fishermen, and in the 1600's several had valuable bibles and could read. The houses around the church are interesting. Dutch gable ends built by overseers of the Dutch community draining the lands. Also an amazing Turor stile manor with barley stick chimmneys. Fletcher Christian (of The Bounty) is said to come from here. It is lanes and quite amid the noise of the neighbouring areas. I was part of an archeological dif here but no significant finds. The main focal point is Old Clee Church. The 2nd Oldest Building in Grimsby. Holy Trinity and Saint Mary. The Saxon Tower dates back to c1050AD, and was designed to warn locals of Viking invasion. It was once administered by Wellow Abbey in Grimsby and the Bishops Visitation reports at the time are really funny to read (NO history isn't stuffy!) where the monk taking services whiines and complains of not liking leaving his monastary and the walk of about 2 miles was bad and he got hungry etc. No shops or cafes etc but the church is usually open to look around and the architecture is worth a look too. Look for the stone of the witches head on the tower. Sometimes I can see it and sometimes I can't. I think she pops out.

The station at…read moreLudborough has a signal box which, if you ask nicely, you can up into and they will show you how it all works (they're great with children too), a well-stocked gift shop, stationery buffet carriage, museum and small engine shed. Parking is in a field across the level crossing, and the whole site is not great for disabled access, but the staff are friendly and helpful. Being one of the smaller railways, you do get to see things you wouldn't elsewhere, such as inside the signal box, and an up close view when they are stoking the tender whilst stood at the platform, which the kids loved. The ride itself is scenic and not too long, with comfortable carriages, and with a family day ticket costing only £12, who can complain.

Next to that you will find a single room devoted to changing modern arts exhibits. For the actual fine arts you need to mosey off to the Usher Gallery, which is right next door. The Collection also harbours a nice, rather roomy café on the lower floor. The building itself is modern and brightly lit, and quite attractively designed. The displays in the archaeological collection are well-presented, with plenty to read AND see. It naturally appeals more to school children, but adults should also find enough interesting info. The arts room was fun, too. Entry is free of charge, and photography allowed. But don't forget to go to the Usher Gallery next.
