Their…read moremenu has a lot of options for people and they have A LOT of desserts and regional ones as well. The service is fast and you have to pay inside after you ask for your bill. They are quick to get your order if you eat outside or are getting pastries to go inside. The space is nice and the outdoor seating area is the better option. I would recommend one of the regional pastries such as fruta de Algarve, which are similar to soft marzipan with a thick egg yolk and sugar mixture in the middle. It's not like marzipan in the States and a lot softer and has a better texture and flavor. The other would be the Dom Rodrigo, which comes in a little colorful foil packet. It's an egg yolk and sugar mixture that is in thin strings layered on top of each other and swimming in a simple syrup. It might be too sweet for some.

There are two cues, one to order for takeout and a second to eat either inside or outside. We loved their pastries and service was amazing!! The servers were quick and my favorite has been Pedro who took the time to explain things to us. Looks like plenty of locals come here as you can see many families showing up, especially for take out pastries. A definite stop by if you are in the area and want to start your day right!!

My boss loves pastel de nata and we were on a mission to eat them every chance we had. He found this little cafe and we walked on over. This place is classic, beautiful chandeliers in the ceiling, mirrors on the walls, gold trimmings. You can either order and eat at the counter or you can get a table. We opted for a table which was great because we were able to look at the menu in English. There is a case full of all different kinds of pastries as well. We ended up getting two different kinds of breads and a pastel de nata and two Americanos. The pan de deus was my favorite with the sugar on top. The bread was airy and fluffy and delicious when dipped into the coffee. Service was fast and the place was clean.

Based on the items I ordered, everything was just passable. Maybe I'm not really appreciating the difference in textures between similar pastries in different countries, but even compared to several other bakeries and cafes in Lisbon, this was my least favorite. (Overall outside of pasteis de nata, I found pastries and baked goods in Portugal to be a bit drier, breadier, and sweeter than some other countries.) The chocolate croissant I ordered used melted chocolate sprinkles on top and inside, and the bread was laminated on the outside but kinda dense and dry on the inside, no airy pockets, just bready. The palmier tasted a bit stale, like when a crispy cookie has been sitting out and softened. The croquettes were average. The espresso was pretty normal. I sat outside since it was a nice day, they had a number of tables and patrons dining outside. They seemed to be understaffed bc it took a while for the server to come out and take my order, though the food came pretty quickly once ordered. Inside it's a very old-school feel, very ornate with many mirrors and liquor shelves along the wall. Not sure about prices now though will say in 2022 they were very reasonable.

That is exactly the "good" problem Landeau has as besides their famous chocolate cake, all they have are beverages, inadvertently making their sign outside with the proclamation "When in doubt, try chocolate cake!" kind of hilarious. Once you've huffed and puffed your way up one of Lisbon's stairmaster hills, the darkened and vintage feeling interior of this particular Landeau feels very welcome. Although there is ample seating for the size of this store, the ample line of people waiting to get in from the outside might make getting a seat difficult nonetheless. I do like the regular lattes here but let's face it, any beverage you get here is really meant to be a sidekick to the main star of the show, Landeau's famous chocolate cake. And it is indeed, the best slice of chocolate cake you'll ever have, and that is not hyperbole. Layered and textured, but pillowy and light, it's really difficult to describe what a beautiful heavenly experience eating a chocolate cake at Landeau is. It's like treating your mouth to the most sumptuous and comforting experience it's ever going to have when eating something and you never want to end. And for under 5 euros, it almost feels like a steal. I really do consider going to a Landeau one of the highlights of my trip to Lisbon and urge everyone to put it on their must eats here. Even yes, over the egg tarts.
