Cute little brasserie (with menu in English and French) situated in the historic (now tourist) district of St Malo. Dinner was wonderful, and the free aperitif of ?tuna with crackers set the nautical theme of not only this restaurant but so many others around here. I must agree with some of the others about the questionable service which is why i knocked off a star - for example, they weren't particularly busy when I first came in, and yet it felt like I was loitering outside for an uncomfortable period of time before a waiter finally made eye contact to give me a table. My credit card sat on the table for quite a while too even tho I was one of the only diners by that points. It might just be cultural tho so I don't want to be TOO picky about the service, since the food was so good. read more

Right in the heart of tourist trap town just inside the gates of lovely Old Town Saint Malo, sits one of a half dozen or so places catering to those who don't or can't go in search of something more interesting. My hubs is one of those ppl and on our first day here he wanted a proper English breakfast ( we aren't even British nor does he have this kind of breakfast at home).,So for €30+ he got what he wanted and I got some gloppy creamy ick with granola that was equally expensive. I failed to notice the prices on the enticing all in English menu handily outside. That's my fault but when he told me what we paid half way through the meal, I choked. Service was precise and food was just mediocre and abrupt but again I'm no fan of going anywhere near these joints so buyer beware. read more

We have visited this establishment a number of times and have always been pleased with the food and the way that the waiting staff have been so professional, until now. The restaurant was not full and the staff were not overworked! A table for two was pointed out to us by the waitress and we were left to our devices as to how to get to it. The tables were placed close to each other so no chance of one of us squeezing through the gap to get to the other side. I had to go into the main restaurant to go around a main pillar to get to my side of the table facing my wife. The waitress returned with the menus. We wanted an apéro to start the meal and to enjoy this whilst we perused the menu. However this was not to be....the waitress eventually returned and asked us if we had chosen our meal. We asked for two Kir Royals to be followed by two Risotto St Jacques. After about ten minutes we managed to catch the waitress's eye and asked if the Kir Royals are difficult to make!! "Oh no," she replied, "they are just coming." She reappeared with our Kir Royals together with our main course of the Risotto St Jacques.....so much for a relaxing apéro!! If the Kir Royals had arrived earlier we would probably have ordered a bottle of wine to go with the risotto, but as it was we enjoyed our Kir Royals with our risotto. For sweets my wife chose the crème brulée and I had the cocotte de fraises. Delicious. At no time during the course of the meal did the waitress come back to our table to see if we were happy with the meal. We could see the other waiters doing so for their customers, but we appeared to have been forgotten! It is a pity really because the food was excellent as it always has been. We were concerned as to whether it was just us who were being given this brusque treatment, but no, we noticed the same thing happening to a group of Americans and to a table of French people. So in summary, an excellent meal, as usual, but an experience marred by a member of staff who really should not be at front of house. read more

This place is amazing! The service was excellent. Food was great. We sat outside. It was so crowded but they handled it well. Had the poke tuna salad to start. Delicious. Than we had the lobster which they bring live to the table to let you check it before and then cook it table-side. They also will do a specialty crepe table side for dessert but we didn't order that. The waiter pushes me. Space is limited, crowded and noisy. They are expensive comparing with food quality. Not recommended, at all.

Bittersweet to say the least. The area is amazing with some of the most gorgeous scenery anywhere. Now the parts that were not so great are based really on the whole attitude from the locals. I've been all around the world and honestly can say most people are fabulous. This was not the case here. It was so bad that the waiter and service staff were the rudest people I have ever seen. Now before you think it's just this staff it wasn't it was like that everywhere. It was so bad I truly believe they ruined our meals because we were Americans. I'm not a conspiracy nut by any stretch of the imagination but we stopped eating after a few bites and left. By contrast everyone we met in London was spectacular. We even had a total stranger pay our dinner bill because we were having trouble with our credit card ( the cc company thought it was stolen and put a stop on it ) The Bill was over $150 pounds and he just said to let him get it. Another great St. Malo restaurant. Seafood is the specialty here and the number one item is mussels and frites(fries). That seems to be the thing here. But if your are adventurous they have some shellfish blends that are wonderful. The crab is particularly good. All of it is locally sourced. The oysters are from nearby and are world class. read more

We had moules frites and some kids meals. The prices were at least 30% higher than in nearby restaurants and the service was sub-par. The food was good but it took us more than two hours to eat at this place because the service was painfully slow. The server would also constantly forget things we asked (like water). Avoid this tourist trap. read more
