I was visiting London and I looked up Things to Do. One of them mentioned cabarets, and after doing some research I concluded that it looked like Moulin Rouge, so innocent me said, THIS WILL BE A GREAT IDEA. And it was! Except for some minor stripping. But that's okay because tassels count for something, right? Anyway, yes the show was actually pretty good. It features some acrobatics, dancing, fire hula hoops, you name it. I was impressed given that the actual stage was quite small. The actors used the mezzanine quite extensively. I think of it as a very light cirque du soleil that is slightly bawdy. But I repeat, it is not a gentleman's club. In fact, the audience was either couples or groups of women. The seating is kind of weird upstairs. The room is circular so you may happen to view the show from behind the actors, which is what we did. It was still good but there were certain scenes that took place behind pillars, and it was a bit harder to view those scenes. I bought tickets for only 15 pounds (that's around $22 USD as of this writing) so it was not a bad deal. read more

Yelp Attorney Essentials: Clearly, Café de Paris completely depends on the situation and who is playing/performing/DJing the night you go. If you are bold enough to meet anyone anywhere, I would suggest it. However, I recommend going with Europeans who are either visiting or temporarily living in London, as they will be a good guide and hopefully know when a good DJ is playing. If you just happen to end up near Piccadilly Circus with your wife and are kinda lyke whatever, doing the touristy thing, you could have fun here for a hot minute but really I suggest going to a different club... read more

I went out here for my 23rd birthday and I had the time of my LIFE. First off, I emailed CDP in advance asking about a Guestlist and they responded that it would be 10pounds. Perfect. So we get there and they told us it was 15, and I told them in my confirmation email it said 10. He flips to a page and he tells us that we were the only people getting in that day for 10 pounds! SWEEET!!! I have no idea why that happened, but I'm glad it did! =) +Super super super high ceilings, DOME LIKE venue actually - check out the pictures. +They serve Patron here.... threw back lots of shots of patron that night (the smaller bar in the back doesn't have it). +Got to hang out upstairs at the balcony, and they play REALLY REALLY good music. They even had a show and confetti falling out at some point in the night... all for my b-day.. JK! Great place though. read more

Ooo la la! The one is for the books! If you are open to something a little naughty, lively entertainment and don't mind possibly being a small part of the show, I definitely recommend visiting Cafe de Paris! **if you are sitting directly in front of the stage you have a large possibility to be involved, otherwise don't let this detour you. I went with a large group of girls on a Saturday night and was not disappointed! If you are not interested in having dinner but just taking in the show and a glass of Champagne or cocktails, the standing tickets are great. *Tip: show up at 6 when the doors open and you will be able to snag a primo table on the mezzanine. We did and had a close up, fantastic view! The establishment itself has quite the history dating back to prohibition times- check out e website! This is great for large groups for dinner also- I saw several bachelorette (hen) groups, birthday groups and even couples groups. You can check this out solo or in a pair also- if you opt in for dinner you will be seated with others at a large table. Ladies- a fun opportunity to dress glamorously! (Nice dress required) My group decided to go in 1920's theme dress and it made the experience all the better! When you arrive there is a coat check. you can check a bag also with extra shoes- this place turns into a great dancing venue after the show! There are some of the ladies from the show in full dress like take pics with you when you arrive! The show is great with variety of shows- we had an acrobat, burlesque and a very humour out singing duo! (I do believe the acts change to stay fresh so I would do a little research if your looking for something in particular) An unexpected bonus for me was how fun Cafe de Paris was AFTER the show also. Immediately after the show you can ascend into the "VIP" club which is a smaller area with a bar, a small dance floor and a bedroom boudoir themed sitting area! It was a blast for the girls- we headed down quickly and snagged two large tasseled chaise/couches! We had a few cocktails and danced in both the main area near the stage and the smaller room. I was very happy to hear fun, throw back 2000's music along with new music. I don't dance often but when I do... Let's just say my heels stayed on for a few more hours dancing! Another night here and another great success! I did exactly the same as last time - cabaret, too much wine, reclining on a bed and dancing the night away! This time with some friends to celebrate a new promotion in their job. So we came here for a night of cabaret and debauchery, exactly what we got! We were wowed and impressed by a burlesque act, a devilish compere, a wonderful couple that showcased strength by balancing on each other. My favourite of all were two acts - the female a fire hoola hoop dancer who was poised, dangerous and incredibly sexy. The male was a hand-balancer who had incredible control and beautiful poise to manipulate into astonishing positions. Of course afterwards we were only too happy to dance the night away in the VIP area, complete with the performers, the bar and the beds - yes that's right the beds! Plush and red and velvety. and more than big enough for the three of us to drink wine, talk about the cabaret and then dance the night away. GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE read more

What an experience. I took my mom here to celebrate her birthday, she worked there MANY years ago when it was an afternoon tea dance. She traveled back in time and enjoyed every second of the cabaret. It was breathtaking and spectacular. We will be visiting again when we are back in London. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews but this was definitely a must see and I can't wait to go back again. This is a very peculiar place. On a Friday and Saturday night it looks and feels like many other clubs in the same area, it plays the same music, it charges the same extortionate fees for drinks, it generally spits in your face. Quite a popular place with celebs apparently, Lindsay Lohan has a party there this Saturday, woo...hoo... The rest of the week the place is transformed into a high-class coporate or party venue keeping the rest of the riff-raff out on the pavement. The whole thing just screams cheesy, with lots of velvet all over the place it feels like the foyer is some overtly swanky hotel. Not my scene, this place offers nothing new and exciting, it jsut looks quite posh and hollow. read more

Opening its doors in 1924 the Cafe de Paris quickly established itself as one of Europe's premier nightspots. It seemed like everyone was having their Bachelorette party here, the ratio was like 10 girls to 1 guy! Nothing wrong with having a bunch of girls in the club..but a bit of variety would have been nice. Actually, there was some variety in the age of women (18-40 years..mostly 40 year olds). Drinks were very expensive for what they were - I ordered a double vodka soda and that came out to be USD $20 for a glass of soda water (super watered down). When I asked for a double, I didn't mean double up on the soda water :/ I read a lot about the strictness of the dress code (and even heard it from the promoter we were talking to)...but it's actually not that strict. My group of girls and I wore what we wore to lunch that day to the club - I was in a maxi dress and flip flops and I saw some other girls wearing the same. The DJ sucked and the music he played was all over the place. Someone in another review said it sounded like an ipod on shuffle and I'd say that's the best way to describe it lol. read more

Like a footballer's wife has had sex with a hairdresser and this was their deamon child, Cafe De Paris fills me with fear. Shoot me so I don't have to go here please. If ever there was a symbol of out of town chavs who want to "do" London, this has to be it. Average drinks that will cost you £18, tourists in skin tight trousers and slicked back hair and a queue for everything, toilets, coat check, bar... argh! I won't one star this place though because out of the few times I have been some of there are for private parties, which actually are pretty awesome. The venue itself is so impressive and everything looks so beautiful - which is fortunate as they can't hide anything behind beer goggles as it's too expensive to get drunk. If you know the DJ, who has drink tickets, even more awesome. Just be warned, this place will suck up your money and leave you sober enough to know you don't want to go home with the dickheads who dance and drink here. read more

I had a great time here and would say it's better than most of the Mayfair type clubs I've been to! It was a weekend and the queue wasn't so bad.. but then again we were just 2 girls, which is never hard to manage. The music was great, just what I like as a west coast American - wild 94.9 type, lots of hip hop and r&b, with some house and techno here and there but not too much. I think we ended up dancing here until 3-4am or so. The coolest part and which I haven't seen at other clubs yet is the performers. There were scantily clad girls high up in stage-like areas doing fire breathing tricks with some mild strip-tease. Nothing too racey, just really entertaining in my opinion! It was very crowded and people DO push (as in any other club) so remember to get white wine instead of red. read more

We went there to see the Wam bam club. And we had a lovely evening! I would highly recommend this show. Very old school building, it definitively has a decadent cabaret feel to it :) A little naughty, loads of fun, dark and shabby -- but in a nice way. Play the game, and dress up fancy as if it was the 50' :) If you enjoyed "Cabaret" from Bob Fosse, then this is the place to go. The staff if joyful, and very relaxed; you feel part of 1 big family. Drinking, laughing and participating to the ambiant craziness. After the show, it turns into a club. We didn't stay a lot after, but it was nice dancing on old school disco music and not take it too seriously ;))) read more

I've only been here once but had an amazing time! This was the location for my university's graduation ball and we had the VIP lounge to ourselves. For £10, we had entry and a drink to start us out. The staff at the door was very friendly and escorted us to the VIP area since we had never been there before. The lounge was really cool and we had our own bar and bar staff. Our 'free' drink was pretty weak, but they didn't complain when we went up and asked for another one. I guess 2 weak drinks = 1 regular drink! The back room of the VIP is a 'bedroom' where most of us ended up hanging out all night. We went out onto the main floor a few times but it was too hot and kept going back to the VIP area which not only had the bedroom, bar area/dance floor, but a small lounge and 2 semi-private rooms for more intimate conversations. read more

For all the hype and rep this place gets.... yeah, no. As part of a big night a friend was organizing, I managed to get in for £7. Great, I thought, I won't be paying the usual £15-20 that they charge at the door. I've also gotten a whole shpeal about how famous this place and how many celebs frequent the place and how classy it is. I've partied in a decent amount of cities globally, and I honestly don't think this place makes the top 30 considering the price they charge for the experience you get. I feel like I can easily pick much better clubs in LA or Paris if I were to drop the money on this kind of place. The music that night was mediocre, a strange mix (often repeated) of hip hop, techno and electro. The crowd was more pretentious than I personally prefer (what can you expect in Picadilly and a £20 cover). I had access to the VIP area upstairs, which is nice, but far from special. To be honest, I find the interior a bit tacky and not classy. Didn't buy any drinks so can't speak on that, but I am fairly confident that it is your typical overpriced Picadilly deal. I attended a Cabaret Night at Cafe de Paris as a member of the press and I'll admit I was pretty skeptical at first. Something about a dinner show near Leicester Square screamed tourist trap to me, but as it turned out, my instincts were completely wrong. The theatre/cabaret area is dark and a bit grungy - but very 1920s Paris. I was seated at one of the tables on the ground floor. Things kicked off with a three course meal, which was better than expected. I had the foie gras and my partner had the lamb. Both were befitting of a nice restaurant. Drinks were free flowing and there were plenty of fun cocktails to choose from. As much as the meal impressed, the show put on by the Cabaret Society blew the whole audience away. I didn't know what to expect, and things kicked off with a bang with fire breathers, burlesque dancing, vaudeville-inspired song and dance acts, acrobatics, and more. The Society did a really good job of keeping us as an audience on our toes and even my boyfriend (who hates 'singing') really enjoyed himself. As I understand Cafe de Paris is also a night club and hosts all sorts of other events. I can't comment on those, but I can definitely recommend coming to see the London Cabaret Society. The full dinner and show package is, admittedly, a bit expensive. However, tickets are available for the show only and are a pretty good deal if you're looking for a fun night out. read more

He made me want to throw up, he was honestly that bad at mixing. I left after an hour of being in there. Major cringe. Very small dance area with a huge range of ages of people here. Food wasn't fabulous, but the open bar was wildly popular as was the vodka ice louge. Waiters, bar staff and security were all very professional. Love the two-story circular theater layout. Ok... I am completely biased with this review because it was a company event and the drinks were paid for me all night. The venue is pretty lush with a Moulin Rouge theme. At one point they had girls in corsets dancing around the stage and a cabaret show for entertainment. All the waitresses were corseted as well and they had pretty good fish and chip nibbles going around the venue. The DJ was fun, playing a mixture of top club hits and 80's classics. I wouldn't mind coming here again, although it wouldn't be my first choice of nightclub. read more

Huge with winding stairs and coves. not your typical London club. I'm told the burlesque shows are amazing by the lovely Ray C., who I dumbfounded by admitting I hadn't been to a burlesque show yet. ...consider that added to my to-do list. Café de Paris is not as expensive as most would think, I recall paying £10 to get in, and this was once the most well known club in London. It still has a huge rep as its been around for years but doesn't have the status it once did. All that aside its stylish décor hits you from the entrance, with its massive ceilings and black and gold theme. The last time we went they play rnb and hip hop all night and a couple of girls we were with were chatted up by a couple of arsenal players. Me and my mates watched from distance and laughed our heads off because they were trying so hard but the girls weren't having it. We sat in the lounge section which is quite large and comfy, where you can rest your limbs if you have been dancing and want a break. read more

The host was definitely the best part for us. He was simply hilarious & could command the room with ease. The food was average but I expected that. And for the price it's not what you're really paying for. The drinks were tasty. And they'll do a little special treat if it's an occasion. If you want to stay on pay attention to dress code. They really will make you leave if you don't conform. For the ladies, if you're wondering what to wear then anything from "a bit fancy" to "glitter everywhere" goes! Although this is a really famous and lovely venue, it's looking a it shabby in places. It's a wonderful space and great events are put on here, the decor is wonderfully French and old school, but I just can't get the smell of toilets out of my head. The whole place smells of drains, they really need to sort it out! I love the decor but it needs a facelift somehow, without ruining its charm, if that's possible. Saw a great gig here - INXS (but with the new lead guy who was totally amazing!) Still I wouldn't choose to go here and especially being right in the middle of tourist heaven. It has a fun history though so worth checking out just for that and the velvet curtains. read more

Relatively painless to get in, you can easily afford to get a VIP table/area if you feel like investing in a bottle (circa £100 for vodka bottle) as a group. Decor is interesting and the service is good. The whole place gives the atmosphere of a 19th C cabaret club. Waitresses are in suitable attire. Crowd is varied and the music is pretty chart like, but with a penchant towards R n' B. Has GoGo dancers also and smoke machines. Café De Paris is a fun night club in the centre of London's west end. I like this club, it has it mix of pretension and common party people looking for a good time. They have a nice little members only room at the end of the large bar which you can hire out. They have a great large dance floor and above the dance floor they have tables which you can book, though a table will set you back around £500.00. Also for the boys the very beautiful staff walk around in corsets and short skirts. I like this club and happily have spent a few good nights there. read more

Cafe De Paris is a well known restuarant and nightclub in the heart of the west end seconds from Leicester Square. Unlike other clubs it doesnt try too hard and hide behind an unmarked door, the welcoming sign invites you in but the velvet rope still marks its exclusivity. Another guestlist venue, with the best night being on a saturday night through londonparties. Expect the usual high entry prices and drinks but what you get in return is a HUGE , decadent nightclub that screams out old school glamour. With commercial music that is perfect or a night dancing away. The VIP balcony over looks the main club and is much less crowded than the dancefloor below. A good night out. read more

Such a fun night! We saw the Seven Sins cabaret show, which was great! If you aren't doing dinner, get there between 7:00/7:30 to get the best vantage point, though I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. The balcony had a great view and may have a better vantage point than a table on the ground floor toward the back. The service was kind of slow and the drinks were pricey, but the show was great. We were able to dance on the main floor afterwards and that was fun too! I'd go again for a bachelorette party/birthday/girl's night out. read more

I went for the 'Wam Bam' show, and although we had fun, I was generally disappointed. My main problem was that once the show ended, we were abruptly told we had to move from our table, and all our glasses were whisked away along with half a £22 bottle of wine. The show itself was ok, but it will depend who's on that night. The 'finale' to ours was an act resembling an uncle hastily standing in for a childrens' party clown. Buffoonery without any imagination. The comedienne was also dire, relying on taboos and vulgarity without including any jokes or punchlines (and I love plenty of crass comedy). We reserved a 'VIP table' - not for dinner, that supposedly fits 10, but consists of 2 sofas on the balcony with very restricted viewing. Only half of us could see the stage at any one time. So if you're not dining, I would recommend hanging around the stairs if you want to see the show. The drinks were expensive, but we expected this in Leicester sq. £3 for a soft drink, and £9 upward for spirits and mixers. A 15% service charge is also added on if you get table service, which can be avoided by going to the bar yourself (unbeknownst to us at the time). I don't know about the competition for burlesque in London, but I'm sure there must be better than this. read more
