I just read another review online which put my finger on something which I hadn't quite been able to - this cafe manages to appeal to builders wanting a full fry-up and groups of coffee slurping yummy mummies (and at the weekend, probably brunchers on their way to the nearby Wimbledon Farmers Market). Best of both worlds. It is bright, spacious and gleamingly clean, and offers an extensive menu of classic, tasty breakfasts and lunches.
I had a massive club sandwich with crisp, freshly cooked bacon peeping out at me. It came with a large portion of chips which I couldn't manage. My tea was the good strong stuff, in a bone china mug. I chose from a selection of newspapers and glossy magazines and happily read about what the Duchess of Cambridge had been wearing recently.
I enjoyed the atmosphere - a large table were having a raucous birthday lunch, and somebody's toddler was toddling around saying hello to all the diners. I noticed that the owner seemed to be on friendly terms with most of the customers who dropped in. I'll definitely be back. read more
