We had the pizzas delivered and it is a bit disappointing. the sauce tasted literally like blended up tomato, very thin and tomato-y, so I am not impressed by it as I like my pizza very saucy. So if you like those pizzas that has less sauce, you might find this quite nice. The pizza dough is a bit different than the sourdough pizza we have from other places. This is very thin and a bit crunchy, other places are rather spongy and I'd prefer spongy so I had to give an average score on the pizzas. First meal in UK and yelped guided me right! It's a small neighbourhood restarting sitting in Battersea. Looks like a popular join for the locals, several locals walk in and asked for the really baked bread. Our food was great!!i was a little skeptical when I saw the comment saying the bread was hard like a stone. It's not, sourdough needs a certain toughness to hold the food on top. Food was great! There's no one bite that we are not happy with. Especially the salmon potato , never a fan of that dish but this one changed my mind! Our food took a bit of wait but it's worth it, you can tell that chef made everything from scratch and it's infused with craftsmanship and passion for cooking. The owner made several breads during our time there. That's just golden to me, you come in to a restaurant and seeing how something in your plate is made by someone behind you is amazing, that's the beauty of neighbourhood restaurant, main ingredients are not sourced out, they are made in-house by real people who you can have conversation with. To start, staff member greeted me with a smile when I walked in which almost never happens in London. One star. Second, the menu seems very extensive for brunch with all your usual egg and sammy offerings. Cozy place Two stars. I got the smashed avocado with sweet chilli, lime & feta on sourdough. I asked for brown bread instead of white and the aforementioned staff member found some for me. Three stars. The sammy is solid. Huge avo chunks and the feta and lime/chili complemented the savoury taste. The bread slices are generous so this is quote filling. Four stars. Got sammy quickly. Also, clean toilet. Great little breakfast spot! Went twice during our holiday in London, very well made cappuccino with the option to add chocolate flakes on top. Definitely recommend the English one, but the American one along with the avocado toast were all fan favorites! Unfortunately we were unable to come for the pizza starting at 5pm but the sourdough bread it comes on was a delicious touch to every breakfast. We came in for a brunch and there weren't any sourdough crumpets. But that was okay, we had toast instead and enjoyed our food! The coffee was solid and it was easy to get tap water here, as tourists! The portions were large enough to keep you going for the day but not so filling that you feel sick leaving. Probably the best part of Flour to the People was the service. The guy with the man-bun and his partner were so sweet, and really brought a spirit of hospitality to the business. Hardest bread I had in my whole life! Their freshly made breads that were so well spotted on many reviews here really disappointed me. We couldn't even cut it, it was dry and hard like wood! It spoiled the whole breakfast since we couldn't really cut the bread and soak all the yummy ingredients with it. We came here twice over a two day period because it was so delicious and the people were so friendly! First time we came after 5 and got the Margherita pizza and the breakfast pizza (both amazing). And the second time we got breakfast/brunch (see pictures). Really kicking myself for not getting the fruity fizz but maybe next time :) Has a really cozy atmosphere and local beer selection. MY GOD this place was mind blowing. I got the Big Croque (I think that's what it's called?) and it's quite possibly my favorite meal ever. The prices were super reasonable which is great if you're on a budget like I am. The plates were bigger than expected (always a good thing) and the coffee/tea was fresh, hot, and delicious. Flour to The People is a fairly new addition to my neck of the woods. They opened a couple months ago, but I wasn't able to try them until recently as at first they weren't open early enough in the morning or late enough in the afternoon for me to stop in. Thankfuly, they've realized that to be a breakfast spot you actually have to be open breakfast hours. (But they still close early). It's a bit of an odd one wanting to be both a bakery and a breakfast restaurant, but not having a huge range of baked goods. I'm really still on the fence. We popped in and got some breakfast baked goods to take with us for the day. It was a Sunday, and I wonder if maybe they don't bake everything fresh all weekend. Our "Battersea Bun" (basically a giant Chelsea Bun) was ok, but I would be shocked if they claimed it had been baked fresh hours earlier. It was dryyyyyyyy and a bit hard - bordering on stale. As someone who bakes a lot at home, I'd guess it was made on Friday or Saturday. :( We also got a blueberry muffin, which was quite tasty and seemed a bit fresher. I'm not sure how well Flour to The People will fit in to the area in the long run. I do think it needs a major rethink of its opening hours as well as working on staff training a bit (sloooow and confused service). While I couldn't fault the baking as such, I could certainly wish for fresher baked good from a place that calls itself a bakery. I'd like to give them another try, but I'm not yet convinced overall. read more

Since my October review, Flour to the People has risen to the occasion. Coffee is still solid. Queues for tables can often crowd the snug place on a weekend. Since I last reviewed, Flour to the People has added offerings and improved their already impressive array. The toaster on the table with fresh sourdough bread on weekends is absolutely glorious, in every which way. Having had the pleasure of purchasing a fresh loaf of sourdough hot from the oven, there is nothing more delightful than having the warmness of the bread emanating through the bread bag as you walk in the often dreary, cold London weather. Ripping off a piece of warm bread with just a hint of sourness just pops deliciousness in your mouth. The sourdough is even better than many of the famous places in San Francisco that specialise in the same. Flour to the People has added pizza offerings to a dinner menu. Still in its infancy, it is a well-kept secret that we thoroughly enjoy. The only place in London we've eaten dinner from two nights in a row. It is just that good. The dough is freshly made (a variant of their bread dough), and is delicious. The single size portions simply work. Slightly more than you need to fill up, but leaving the little devil on your shoulder craving just one more slice. The pizza toppings are great. The basic tomato sauce they use is replete with herbs, and a fresh tomato taste. Definitely not the canned drivel so often used at pizza joints. They have a number of white pizzas, too. The wild mushroom sauceless pizza has a great fragrance to it and tastes great. The only thing missing is actual chunks of wild mushrooms :/ But Pizza Diavolo is an explosion of spice atop a great pizza. And, in the true spirit of great pizzas, they offer a varied selection of a little less than a dozen choices, but only one main ingredient each. You'll find no "Meat Lover's Supreme" option here. First of all, great name! Luckily the atmosphere and food live up to that. Delicious fresh avocado smashed onto two lightly toasted pieces of sourdough and sprinkled with feta - sadly I couldn't taste the sweet chilli advertised on the menu as part of this dish, but I didn't miss it and the lime added a little zing. A great strong but smooth and lovely frothy cappuccino completed my brunch experience. Service was friendly enough but nothing OTT, and it's a nice small space with just four tables, each for up to four people, so I didn't feel too conspicuous eating by myself. I couldn't decide whether I was hungry enough to add two poached eggs to my avocado smash, but my server gave me the hack of adding just one egg and that was perfect. If you love bread and are looking for a novel breakfast/ brunch, they have the option of unlimited toast for an hour with a variety of spreads and toppings (plus two sides), with a magimix toaster right on your table :) read more
