Came by myself on a Wednesday night without a reservation. I had to wait a little bit but was able…read moreto get seated. It is very loud, both from people talking and then with music once that started. This is more of a vibe place than a good food place. Misoshiru has too much miso. The mackerel was a bit disappointing, the vinegar flavoring is light and it has that thawed from frozen texture. The rice is good, much better than I typically see stateside. The tuna was oddly sweet and didn't have firmness. The hamachi was spot on though, not sure why the other two were misses. The signature dish is fried monkfish in something similar to sweet and sour sauce, honestly not that impressed. Cheesecake is not as dense as American cheesecake and not fluffy like a soufflé, I think it was a good middle ground. Not too sweet.

Very different (in a good way) dining experience. Dimmed lights, extravagant Japanese-style design…read moreand glorious decor on your way to the toilet upstairs are definitely memorable! The food was simply amazing and arranged like a work of art! We were quite a big group and the food arrived at the same time. The menu is quite varied - from more traditional Japanese style dishes to quite modern cuisine - I for one had a meal called 'Mad crab' which was a selection of seafood with a delicious cheese sauce and poached oak Choi with oyster sauce. The service was very attentive.

The entrance is small, and across from some sort of loading bay or something. But worth stopping in. Once inside, the space opens up and is very welcoming. I ordered the green eggs on toast, and it was delicious (the sausages are an add-on, and in hindsight was unnecessary). The poach was perfect, and that green sauce is divine! But... I hope you brought some dental floss or a toothpick, because you will surely have embarrassing green bits stuck in your teeth otherwise. Top quality brekkie! The OJ tasted fresh with bits of pulp in it (although they do pour it from a jug in their fridge) and the latte is of a good quality. Not busy on a Monday morning. Staff friendly, and chatty with some of the delivery people, who I assume they see on a regular basis. If in Belfast for an extended period of time, would not hesitate to dine here again.

There was a great selection of savory and sweet. I had poached eggs on sourdough. My friend had the French Toast, and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. There was fuzzy stuff on the French toast that looked like asbestos or fiberglass. It was not, it was soft and sweet, but it sure looked odd. The poached eggs on sourdough with pesto was amazing. I also got a side of bacon. It was perfection. There is a cool little shop too. If I am back in Belfast, I'll be sure to stop back.

The girlfriend and I both got our own Northern Ireland seafood chowder soup. All of the potatoes and fish were cut up in small bits and peppered with dill throughout the soup. I've always liked the bright, airy, open-plan, relaxed ambience within Pantry and it's modern yet warm furnishings and interior - all raw wood and fresh white paint which gives a clean, modern and cosy atmosphere. Plus free wifi and pleasant staff are always a bonus. However, there seem to have been a few changes recently, most notably a marked increase in vegan offerings which is fantastic to see. There's always a vegan soup, stew and sandwich on offer. Plus vegan tray bakes, buns and light breakfast options. I really enjoy their rich earthy mushroom, butterbean & potato stew, broccoli & almond soup and roast veg & hummus sandwiches. Quick and pleasant for a delicious light lunch.
