I love new and I have tried to come to this restaurant 3 times and it was closed. I finally had an opportunity to eat! Cuban was fantastic with the Brazilian fries. The au jus served with it is salty! The Portuguese omelet was fine. I wanted to try something authentic And the sausage was definitely different. I liked the flavor of everything besides the sausage but that is a personal issue. I would come back and try something else.

We love Cafe Beaudelaire. I need a vegetarian/vegan diet and the Iron Veggie is fantastic! Black beans, basmati rice, avocado, veggies and salsa hit the spot. My wife had the empanada and a side salad that was more than enough for lunch. Outdoor, cafe-style seating made for a very European vibe as we people watched and enjoyed a lovely spring day in Ames. The service was fast and friendly. We were probably in and out in under 30 minutes, but don't rush. Order a Ruthie or a Guarana and enjoy yourself. CB is on our short list for future visits.

Popped in as I had time before picking up John. Opened the door and nostalgia and history hit me in a very warm spot in my heart. I took a table and ordered a Ruthie. I had a hard time deciding but after a friendly explanation of the different dishes by the waiter I decided on a Brazilian burger with yucca fries. I dropped the fried egg as really, that is just too much. The burger was incredible! The bun was the best I have ever had, light and flavorful! Yucca fries- the garlic aioli was so good, no need for ketchup! I'd come back for sure. Don't pass this up people!

Great food, laid back and friendly feeling and great view of those walking by. We used surprise me and it did not disappoint. It was cold and sloppy from the last snow storm outside. Walking in it was warm and comfortable. Even with large windows facing the street it was a perfect temperature. Be prepared the restrooms are in the basement and might be hard for some to access. Food was prepared perfectly as the menu stated flavor was outstanding. You will not be disappointed.

4.0* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 5* Service: 5* 05/25/2023 This place was recommended by some locals while we were working at the Special Olympics in Ames, so stopped by to check it out at the end of the day before heading home. It is a very unique Brazilian-themed restaurant just across the street from the Iowa State campus with a good selection of beers and Brazilian-themed foods and mixed drinks. We started with drinks - a Pisco Sour and a Caipirinha (see picture). The locals highly recommended the Beaudelaire Bauru sandwich and while it looked delicious, we had already made plans with our wives after returning home, so weren't able to sample it. The other item that was recommended though was the Brazilian Fries w/ mayo (see picture) and we were able to sample them. They were very good - crispy on the outside and warm and soft inside - with the mayo making a great dip pair. I can't wait to return with my wife sometime and give the Beaudelaire Bauru a try. You definitely won't regret stopping here for a bite to eat or a drink - good food, value, selection and service. Great food, good coffee, great vibe and service. A little pricey but that's just how places like Cafe Beaudelaire are. Will be going back.

The Soul of Brasil in the Heart of Iowa Cafe Beaudelaire is located on the block of Campus Town that hasn't been included in the recent rounds of urban development. When Dad and I stopped by last Thursday for Dinner, there was some recent demolition that might be an indication that the ongoing pissing match between the City of Ames and the Developer is slowly reaching some kind of resolution. However, I still wonder if a beloved restaurant that has been here for over 30 years will survive the next tear down. Dad and I are pretty careful with our COVID-related precautions, so I was a little surprised that he chose an indoor table for Dinner vs. an available outdoor table for 2. Restaurant staff were all masked and so were we until we sat down. My brother had warned me that the acoustics can be loud here, because of what looks like a metal ceiling. However, the Café was not full during our stay and conversation was easy and relaxed. The menu is interesting and somewhat eclectic, with my only critique being that although I like my starch, I'm not a big breaded and/or deep fried guy. So the Mozzarella Sticks, Jalapeno Cheddar Chicken Balls, Cheese Empanada, and Argentine Beef Empanada, and Chicken Strips were out. But the Salads, Yucca Fries, Burgers, Gyros, Cuban Sandwich, and Veggie dishes were very open to being ordered. I settled on the garlic spaghetti with gyro meat and bread, which just missed being lick the plate good because I just couldn't finish the more than generous portion. Dad was a bit less adventurous with his delicioius cheeseburger selection. Cafe staff were marvelous, especially in terms of friendliness, follow-up, and overall professionalism. The restaurant atmosphere itself was a treat, and a welcome respite from the outside ISU Campus Town world. Go Hawkeyes!

This place is really cute. It's small but I would definitely go there again. The food was good I got the rodeo burger with fries. The fries had very good seasoning, as for the burger it had good flavors however the patty itself could have used more salt and towards the end it was getting messy. My bun ended up getting soggy and started falling apart. Other than that it was good.

Stopped by for lunch on a dreary day & were warmly welcomed. We sat at a high top and ordered award winning burgers. I had a Brazilian & friend had a Border. Both were delicious! The fries looked homemade & the aioli Mayo with was tasty!

A solid burger. Loved the one with chorizo and chimichurri! Fries and garlic sauce were great. Ordered to-go and food was fresh and fast.

I suggest getting reservations, but we were able to get a table for four walking in early on a Saturday. Never felt rushed throughout. Unbelievably good Lomo Saltado, and sampled each of my family's dishes. Our server, Felipe, was outstanding, and we also appreciated the table visit from Mariella, the manager, who explained some of our dinner items. One of the better restaurants in the Metro!

We were pretty excited about it, because it was a birthday dinner, and our son had spent the last summer in Peru for an internship and was eager to try this out. We showed up at 6, and it was obvious we weren't going to be able to get in early, which was fine. My husband waited to check in, while my son and I waited in the car, since there is no waiting area and barely any room, especially since some other diners were waiting as well, presumably for their 6 pm reservation. It was clear it would be awhile, since the tables were all still full. Around 6:15, another group crammed their way into the small entryway. At 6:30, they had some empty tables, so they finally acknowledged everyone waiting. The 6:30 group asked for their table, and my husband interjected to say we had a 6:15 reservation. The host informed him that we were not on his list and did not have a reservation. My husband showed them our confirmation email and the OpenTable app we used. The host stated that he does not check for more reservations after 5 pm and we clearly had made the reservation too late. (Note: I said we did it at 4:30, so this was clearly not when he looked). The host informed my husband that there was no reservation, and we would not be seated, and he didn't care that we had a reservation since it clearly was made too late. My husband protested, and the host turned his back to him and walked off shaking his head. We were not seated, and he did not return. So we did not get dinner. My advice to you: Making a reservation here will not guarantee you will be seated or served. We had to find somewhere else to eat for my son's birthday, and all the other options we had turned down for this one were booked. Also, they are bad at estimating dining times. They will not acknowledge you until there are open tables, even to check you in, and you may wait for some time after your scheduled reservation.

I wasn't wowed until I sat down, and then now...POW, some of the best food I have enjoyed here in DSM. First, great customer service throughout, as our server was impeccably good. My first visit was for lunch, and I thoroughly enjoyed empanadas, Papa Serrana, and other items. It was delicious, unique, and superb. That prompted a second visit, this time for dinner. I loved the Homado Con Mote, spectacular flavor with pork, white corn, rice, and potato. It was sensational. So much taste, such great options. The interior is not flashy, but it doesn't have to be, as the food quality, unique menu, and excellent customer service pushed the bar extremely high and maintained it.
