I get food or coffee from here almost every weekend and they unlike other places consistently put out awesome coffee and great food. I don't normally review unless its because the place is bad but these guys are well over due for a 5 star rating from me. On the very very odd occasion i have been disappointed but i have the cafe to replace or fix anything i wasn't happy with. All i can say is if you love your coffee as much as i do these guys are worth stopping past for. Also, they have outdoor or in doors which i really love having a choice of. Thanks again for putting out top coffee and amazing food!

I've been visiting for over a year now and have enjoyed it every time, their friendly service and delicious food making it impossible to not return. The menu is quite similar to most modern cafes, offering a range of sandwiches/burgers/wraps, as well as pizzas, pastas and salads. I recommend the Smoked Salmon pizza, an alternate take on the gourmet pizza, or the fried calamari, some of the freshest I have tasted in Brisbane. Prices range from $15-$25 for a main meal. The coffee has always been good. As experienced coffee drinkers understand, it's always handy knowing where you can find a good coffee. The baristas at Caffe Primavera certainly make a great coffee, using Merlo as their supplier. Always a good temperature, and never burnt; exactly what you want out of a coffee.

I've made a few trips to Penny, some just for coffee (takeaway and sit down) and a few with food…read more Across the board, Penny is outstanding in terms of Brisbane's cafe scene. The baristas are exceptionally skilled, and there is a selection of roasts to choose from. While I normally like my coffee black, something that isn't too hard to make, I've had a few flat whites from Penny which have been excellent. A friend of mine asked if they're able to pull a piccolo using soy milk, without the milk splitting. Despite indicating that the barista don't need to try if they haven't made one before, they produced one (after two failed attempts) by slowly adjusting the extraction to the point where they could add a shot to soy milk without producing soy cheese. Doing this despite explicitly not needing to is the sort of above and beyond that earns long-term customers. The food is similarly stellar. The avo on sourdough may at first blush seem like a pricier version of what everyone else is doing. The flavours in Penny's version are, however, inventive and balanced to a point I haven't had elsewhere. There's a nice balance between the feta, dukkah and pomegranate where you can taste all of them without one overpowering the other. The vegetabowl is similarly great. There's just enough of each ingredient that you can taste them, without the dish being overpowered by one note. Penny's interior makes maximal use of the space. There are comfortably sized tables out front and inside, and some bar seating by the espresso machine. The best seats in the house, though, are out back, and include a few longer tables. The staff at Penny are attentive, friendly and great at pulling a coffee and making food.

I'll admit my first positive remark is the cheeky waitress that gave me a good laugh. Food portions we're excellent at a decent price. Only negative was the selection of lunchtime menu, but for someone that responds "food" when asked what he wants to eat, I'll mark this as a positive from my view. Highly recommended!

I took a risk and planned a surprise birthday breakfast at Buzz without having been there before…read more But I needed a place on the West side to accommodate the available timeframe for some of the guests, and the menu on Buzz's website had me at "ricotta pancakes with candied bacon ice cream". I called ahead, and the lovely phone-answerer recommended making a reservation for the weekends, as they do get quite busy. We booked for 8:30 on a Saturday, and while it wasn't overly full when we arrived, a steady crowd did go through in our time there. The space is breezy and open, and our friends were able to wheel their pram up next to the table. The staff were all so kind and helpful. Our server was happy to fill a cup with hot water to warm a bottle, and they really put the mum at ease. There were several other families with children in high chairs, and it's nice to know there's a place I can bring my mum friends. Even though I had spent days looking over the menu, I panicked upon ordering, because there really were so many things I wanted to try. I opted for the build-your-own breakfast plate. I was a little disappointed with the corn fritters I chose, but having lived in the American south, I have really high fritter standards. I did get a nibble of that bacon ice cream, and I know what I'm ordering next time! The portion sizes are quite large, and it really felt like good value for money. We weren't entirely sure where to park, because it is in the ground level of some units, but there is a nearby parking lot for visitor parking with a short sidewalk around to the restaurant. There may be another lot closer, but it looks under construction at the time of this writing.

Big minus - no freshly squeezed juice - although a great selection of bottled juices (around 8 different combinations), which one must select oneself from the fridge and cart to the table where a fresh glass was provided. For breakfast out, unless a buffet, I like to have everything brought to the table (as the rest of the meal was) and if there is juice in a bottle, for it to be brought with the glass and opened and poured - as you would at dinner with a bottle of wine. 2. I also prefer table service after looking at a menu, not having to grab a table and then go up to the counter and order. 3. I ordered porridge and then toast with marmalade and fruit toast - I didn't specifically emphasise the toast after the porridge, but I did say porridge and then the toast. I also asked that the coffee not be brought immediately but after the breakfast had commenced - so to have with the toast. So I thought they would understand that first the porridge and then the toast. Instead, they brought all together (except for the coffee, in keeping with my order). When the porridge and toast were brought out, I said I had expected the toast after the porridge because it would be cold by the time I got to it - there was a fairly halfhearted apology but no offer to take it back and bring out warm toast a little later - with the coffee. The porridge was delicious. The fruit toast was OK, the sourdough fine - but of course close to cold by the time I got to it. It would have been great to have a selection of marmalades and jams - instead there was only one type of jam and one type of marmalade (and vegemite, peanut butter and honey - bonus points for that as handy if there with children who may not eat jam or marmalade). 4. They came to ask if I was ready for coffee before I'd finished the porridge and I said yes - they obviously didn't hear because no coffee arrived and then when already started on the toast they did ask again and they heard me this time as the coffee then arrived speedily - so that was great. 5. My friend had the big breakfast which included home made baked beans - they turned out to be made with almost Indian style spices - that may have been referred to on the menu (which she didn't read fully), but as not a usual choice of spices to go with eggs, bacon etc, it should be highlighted on the menu. My friend said the rest of the big breakfast was lovely. Overall, somewhere I would recommend, but with a caution to be very specific re timing if ordering two different things, and to read the menu very carefully in terms of inclusions (I am assuming the menu did mention the spices, but as my friend didn't read it fully I don't know).
