The food was alright. What bothered me most was the smell of the restaurant... I don't know what it was but it ruined my experience.

If I could give this place a zero star, I would. We are so disappointed at the way we were treated tonight. We went to Cafe Blue for a 55th bday dinner for my brother. He and his wife frequent Cafe Blue atleast once a week and they were so excited to take my husband and I along with 4 other relatives to try this "amazing place". Unfortunately, within 5 minutes of being here, we were treated so so poorly by the manager AND the owner. We were outdoors where there was only 1 other table and we moved a closely table so we could be comfortable and social distance responsible. The manager basically acted like we robbed a bank and scolded us for having the "audacity" to move a table. My brother asked to speak to him privately as to not cause a scene in front of the family and next thing I new, we were kicked out. We were 100% bullied. We will NEVER go back here again. My brother is EXTREMELY well connect in Austin and will no doubt share this experience with all of his colleagues and friends. Luckily we were treated amazingly at Flemings next door. Wow. So upsetting. I guess the owner does not care about a lifetime customer. read more

Terrible service and my food was mediocre at best. The waitress was pleasant but the service was very slow and we waited over an hour to get our bill and get out after food and desserts. I visited cafe blue yesterday for an early dinner with my best friend and her family visiting form Mexico City. We usually go to a different placed that happened to be closed and decided to go hear to mixed things up and get to know a new place. Getting to the place is fairly easy and we had no traffic at all. Being Downtown Austin we were a little concerned about parking but they do have valet and there are options for street parking all around an also a parking area a block down over Cesar Chavez. The place from outside looks like a regular nice cafe. However, once you step in you know you are in no classic "cafe" the place decor is very chic and modern, love the blue accents all around. Has a nice bar at the entrance and very appealing glass winery where you can see the wide selections. The lights are dimmed and gives you a peaceful atmosphere. I was very happy to not have AC blasting making the temperature very pleasant and comfortable. The menu has many options, all sounded amazing. I decided to go for one of the specials which was trout with cantaloupe pico over coconut rice. My friend got sesame crusted ahi una steak which came with with whipped wasabi and potato. We of course where a dozen of oysters. I must say the food was delicious, very good portion size, well cooked and amazingly light. Service was fast and friendly. The prices are very reasonable for been a seafood restaurant. We all loved it and are very glad we decided to try something new. I think this is going to be our new yearly tradition. read more

Great Place in the heart of Austin TX! I am a professional world traveler and foodie, so It happened that I ended up in ATX for work, for 31hr layover. Didn't have any big plans for Austin, just my regular Starbucks run in the morning and maybe lunch or dinner with my coworkers later on in the day. It was walking distance from our Hotel, and it is within walking distance anywhere you are in DTWN ATX. Great location. Menu outstanding! They have better seafood menu then some restaurants in Seattle,WA. Also their steaks/meats were excellent, we never even made it to those. Menu has lots of options and it takes time to go thru it if you are picky eater or you like to indulge yourself and you don't know what you want exactly, because all of the items on the menu look so great. Prices are doable, variable, and reasonable for menu items presented. It has great selection of appetizers, soups, salads and main courses. Drinks were starting at 4$ per glass for mimosas (brunch time). We had BM, and they were good. Appetizer was big enough to share. So was Main course. Our Server was Myles! He was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. Perfect personality, great people skills, funny, and 100% customer service professional. It was nice to experience top notch service. My choice of lunch/dinner consisted of 2 BM, fried calamari and seafood stuffed crepes! I know somebody previously complained that they found fishbone in it (imagine that), I wasn't so lucky! (I can't believe ppl actually complained about that, for me it just shows that it comes/is made from real fish). Theese were the best crepes ever!!!! Came here with my family for my girlfriends 21'st birthday. When we walked in we got sat immediately, which was nice. Chris was our server and he was amazing, that is the only reason I am putting 2 stars on this review. The food was absolutely underwhelming. I spend over $20 on a rainbow trout that had no flavor and was very tough. They did not have the rotisserie chicken my girlfriend and two other people at our table had ordered so they were forced to order something else. They did comp one of the meals because of the inconvenience, but that did not come close to making the visit a good one. This place is a seafood restaurant and the oysters were very salty and the fish was not cooked very well. The only thing good about this place was our server. The another entree on the special menu was red grouper, it was too overcooked so it was not good but they exchanged it to sea bass. Sea bass was very good. The dessert was chocolate cake. Unfortunately I got the pie slice to go because I was full and when I got home and discovered the nuts I had to throw away the slice. The menu should explicitly say there is nuts in the crust. We had a great experience, arrived a little before 10 am on a Sunday and they had plenty of room - filled up a bit by 11. Service was EXCELLENT and the weekend brunch menu all looks amazing. We were at the restaurant for 2 hours and were one of 3 tables in a giant restaurant the whole time. Our service was mediocre. The floor of the restaurant was filthy--and again no one was there. I ordered the cedar-planked salmon entree. The menu describes it as brown sugan ancho chile crusted. There was nothing ancho about this meal! I was really hoping for some heat and got nothing but sweet. The food came out very hot from the kitchen which was nice. The sauteed spinach and mushrooms that accompanied it were also lacking in flavor. My husband and our friend got the ahi tuna salad which looked very nice and another friend got the mahi-mahi tacos which she liked. For a restaurant attempting to be upscale, there as nothing upscale about our experience. Have always loved the food here but it may be a while before I dine here again. The restaurant was empty and we still had to wait for a table for 30 minutes. The restaurant is still not sitting to capacity which I think is ridiculous considering most people that want to be vaccinated are. I had three hostesses working and none seem to know what they were doing. Employees were slow at working and not eager to wait on customers. We ordered an appetizer that never showed up. Very disappointed management is not more attentive to the customers needs especially during Covid and the extra weight time and such. They weren't seating certain tables because they were socially distancing however ended up sitting us within 4 feet of the person next to us outside which I did not understand the logic behind that. The tables inside are also kind of outside as well because the doors are always open to the air. I think maybe this restaurant needs more time to adjust to seating for capacity try another restaurant that is more capable of managing their customers. read more

When our salads were delivered, we had no silverware. When they brought us silverware, we weren't given napkins. When our 4 entrees arrived, our drinks still haven't arrived from bar. 2 of the 3 bar drinks were delivered after entrees. Finally 3rd drink was delivered more than halfway through entree . Our waitress dropped off dessert menu when 2 of us were still eating our entrees. She also started clearing dishes when we were still eating. Food was good, however service was not! Started with a summer salad with feta cheese, candied pecans and cranberries rounded out nicely with an apple cider vinaigrette dressing. We tried the Catfish Louisiane and Captain Pete's Jamaican me crazy jerk chicken. Both came with the same sides - a pretty flavorful rice pilaf and some sautéed spinach. Both dishes were well balanced and satisfying but nothing spectacular. For dessert we went for their crème brûlée spiked with a bit of rum. That qualified for spectacular. As we discussed the odor and scoped out the floor looking for out host we realized that the host was the waiter & host for the time being. 4 minutes after standing by ourselves @ the entry we were seated. Long story short: no service or water for 5 minutes, the menus had food on them, the waitress came over after getting high outside (w/ nothing in her hands) and we made up an excuse to leave and walked to the nearest steak house.
