    Eggs Royale, Cafe Continente stylee
    Peter S.

Cafe Continente is a restaurant and all day breakfast place with 4 star potential but currently settling on 3 stars. Housed within a pleasant airy space and fronted by an inviting green facade, amid Victorian terraces, Cafe Continente offers a familiar range of all day breakfasts and other mains. I was here for brunch, so plumped for an English breakfast and a milkshake. My girlfriend opted for Eggs Benedict and a smoothie. The service was confused and rather less flexible than I would have liked. I asked if I could have two slices of French toast with my breakfast rather than the four slices a standalone French toast serving came with. Not possible, which given how accommodating many brunch places are becoming (Balans in particular), annoyed me. My breakfast was pretty average, with the sausage noticeably lower quality than the competition in this price range (£7). Not too bad, but not great. The milkshake was also average, with little flavour making up for the lack of ice cream. My girlfriend's Eggs Benedict however was considerably better. The atmosphere is pretty chilled out, with a world music (think Enigma) soundtrack. We stayed for a while after finishing - despite its occasional culinary imperfections this is one of the more welcoming places in the area. Overall - the atmosphere and some of the food (Eggs Benedict in particular) hint towards a possible 4 star world for Cafe Continente. For now though, it's 3 stars - A-OK.

Great breakfast close to the underground station & good prices. The owner or manager wasn't too friendly with his staff or welcoming. Our waiter was really good & we ordered the transitional English breakfast.

I had a full vegetarian breakfast and flat white. Delicious! I think this will last me the whole day. (:

Quality of food was not too bad, but the quantity of salmon that I would expect from paying £6.95 for the Eggs Royale (basically eggs Benedict with smoked salmon) was pathetic. Just a slim slice. Disappointing, considering what I was expecting. Otherwise, good tea selection.

No nonsense, cheap breakfast and the occasional good chorizo soup. A mainstay for us locals. Busy, yet relaxed.

I've come back to visit London several times since then (most recently in September) and its amazing how all the shops have changed on this block but this sandwich shop still remains! I am sooo glad it's still here! Seriously the best sandwiches, hot dishes such as Samosas- still cheap and fast service! Love that the locals come here everyday and know they can get the best sandwich or hot food from here! I'm obsessed with their simple bacon and egg sandwich (all comes on a baguette) I get it with no sauce of any kind. My second choice- chicken with corn. Simple yet so tasty. No need a million toppings-

This is the best sandwich shop in the world and I look down on anyone that disagrees. Just kidding…read more The sandwiches and employees here are pretty amazing though- as are the prices! I came here 9 years ago when I was a student and vowed to come back to try more tasty treats. I did just that and brought my husband this time! We ordered: -Tandoori sandwich (hot) -Peri Peri Chicken sandwich (hot) Both were so delicious, huge, and under 3 pounds (which is unbelievable)! I would say peri peri chicken was the tastiest. The flavor was on point and had a good kick of spice. If you want to save money and are in the area-maybe to go visit the V&A or another museum, come grab a quick meal to go here first and then have a picnic!

It's a small…read morecafe-type place in South Kensington (just near the tube station) and very handy for a bite to eat especially if you're on the go as just about everything they offer is handheld (croissants, panninis, massive doughnuts, cookies, tea, coffee, soft drinks, pasties etc. etc.etc). There are seats and tables inside but not many. The prices are fairly reasonable given the area (my pannini was £3.49 I believe) and on my 2 or so previous visits, whatever I've eaten from Miss Ellie's has been rather nice. I'll be popping back in if I'm in the area and a bit peckish, farewell for now, Ian

So there's your typical rows of croissants and pastry with chocolate in, for the Kensington scene to gorge themselves upon. It's small premises, which lets the 'experience' down. So tables are quite cramped together, and you're sitting on those cheap metal table and chairs, so if it's cold, like it is at the moment, maybe not great to sit outside. They standardly do coffee, out of at least a proper coffee machine. But really, nothing that excels. I'd only really come here for a pastry. Not the whole cafe or coffee shop experience, grap something and move. Miss Ellie's has none of the kind of cosy little corners that you'd want to spend a long time in. So good bakery, just not great as a coffee shop... Hhhmmm
