Very cute place that we went to after arriving in London. The food was pretty good. The eggs were decent, although I've never seen a red egg yolk. The place was loud and server wasn't friendly, when my travel companion ordered a tuna melt with tomatoes and onions, I kind felt like we were inconveniencing her. This is a great little breakfast/brunch/lunch place located right near the British Museum, and they have a nice range of food and beverages here. We both opted for breakfast entrees, and service was quick and friendly. They do cram a lot of tables in, so you'll get to meet your neighbors over your meal, but everyone was very nice and we enjoyed our meal there. read more

I visited this location today with a part of 4 around 3:30pm. When we walked in we were told that the kitchen closed soon however the restaurant itself didn't close until 5pm. Maybe this is a UK thing? We sat down and our waitress wasn't very friendly. Almost everyone in my party wanted to try a jacket potato except one. My friend, a person of color, wanted to order a panini. The waitress said "We are out of Panini's" so instead they ordered a potato like the rest of us. A few minutes later a white, straight couple entered and the man ordered a panini and was served it. This was EXTREMELY frustrating to see and made us wonder why we were told they were out of them. Our waitress is the same person who made the panini for them. In all the food was good and a decent price. I won't be back as they seem to like serving white locals rather than people of color. UPDATE: The next day my friend got sick with food poisoning. She ordered the Chicken Salad jacket potato. I don't know how to change my star rating but I give this place one star. Wow. It is extremely rare that when I am on vacation that I eat in the same place two days in a row. After all, you are on vacation and you want to try new things! Well, Salt & Pepper broke that rule for me after an amazing breakfast there the first day of my recent London trip. This tiny cafe was right next to my hotel and offers traditional breakfast favorites in addition to pastas, salads, etc. I had the ham and cheese omelette which might possibly be the best omelette I have had... anywhere. My dining partner had the avocado toast with Halumi cheese which she said was amazing and perfect as well. Service is good and quick. I can't wait to come back on my next London trip! read more

came here to get some jacket potatoes, we were told the kitchen was closing, we came in at 3:00, they close at 5:00 so we needed to order quick which was totally fine, but slightly confusing since they were open for 2 more hours and rushing us. they were unwilling to make a panini for someone in my party for no reason so we all just ordered potatoes, i was the only one who decided to get the chicken mix on mine and now I've been throwing up literally all day. I really loved catching a 6 hour train with food poisoning and the worst part was that it didn't even taste that good to begin with! Not knowing a UK bacon sandwich is ONLY a thin slice of pork belly between two slices of bread is my fault. Later I did spot a BLT on the indoor menu, but the concept of a bacon sandwich on the outdoor chalkboard is what brought me in. Was asked to choose white or brown bread - asked for brown bread, was served on white. Sigh. Since there wasn't much to it, I ordered the mozzarella-tomato-basil panini. Listed at £4, got no change for my £5 note - is the meal tax really that high, or did he simply assume I was tipping? Not amused... No complaints about the panini, but it was the bare minimum - one careful layer of basil leaf and one thin slice of tomato in any area, one slice of cheese. Maybe I wouldn't gripe over that for £4... :eye roll: Noisy! My gosh it was loud, though it is a small place and it was the lunch rush. Staff was randomly snatching plates, napkins, etc off my table as they zoomed by with nary a word. Overall, just not impressed. Won't be going back there. read more
