I happily wandered into Cafe Cotto this morning sort of by mistake while on purpose. We were looking for some coffee before heading on a little day trip and Cafe Cotto popped up on my partner's phone. As we headed from our hotel to the Cafe, we sped past a sign that read "Cafe Cotto new location "...or something. Who can know-- the guy was driving so fast! We drove through the loveliest street/town/village (aren't they ALL so lovely here?!) and parked. The boys remained in the car as I stopped in a few shops looking for cawfee. Met lovely folks along the way and I look up and see a very cute looking spot and...it's Cafe Cotto! We didn't realize that the new location was where we had stopped!
What a beautiful space. The restaurant is spacious with lots of natural light and an open couple of rooms. It looks to be a loved place for locals while I'd imagine will become a favorite of folks like us passing through. Nice to see neighbors greeting each other...people having cawfee while reading and people visiting.
While I am not a sweets person, I still admired the beautiful, fresh looking pastries and delectables. Also on hand were baskets with the requisite scones and a gorgeous looking crusty bread. The menu was a lovely list of breakfast and lunch items. I decided on something easily to go and requested a few scrambled egg wraps loaded with mushrooms. How I love that this country features eggs and Shrooms everywhere! As I waited (and relished some solo mum time), eventually daddy and Baby Rock Star wandered in. Baby enjoyed a scone while we waited and the very lovely Colette provided him some water. We waited a bit and I enjoyed some of the Cafe's delicious cawfee. We got our wraps and were on our way. The eggs were hot and scrambled just right...light and delicious in a fresh pastry kind of wrap. This was a great find and I've no doubt Cafe Cotto will have great success in it's new space! read more
