I had unreasonable expectations for this place. I was very excited about having their smørrebrød for lunch - which was not the best smørrebrød I've had but still good. Same assessment for the ice latte. Closes early at 2p. I'd rather stop by mad & kaffe down the street. I'd be willing to give this place another try, I hear the eggs Benedict is supposed to be stellar.
Their Eggs Benedict was outstanding. Unlike an American Benedict, the portion size was a bit more reasonable I left feeling sated not bloated. The substitution of a slab of hearty Danish bread for English muffin was a welcomed treat. Although I would have almost hoped for a bit more bread to absorb the copious amount of yolk swirling around my plate after all was eaten. However, I'm telling you that this plate is so savory and rich that you'll not need much else to feel satisfied. Dyrehaven's coffee is nothing to write home about (read: not for coffee geeks), but it was warm and brown, so I drank it. If one wants stellar coffee, then troop round the corner to Enghave Kaffe. The decor of C.D. is an eclectic mix of funky accessories strewn around groovy, diner-style booths. The music was not too loud, so that one had to shout to be heard, and, on our visit, the playlist boasted a sort of Joy Division-esque downbeat vibe. Based on both the look and age of most of the other patrons, I'm pretty sure that C.D. is where all the 'cool kids' of CPN go for brunch, but we didn't let that put us off, and neither should you.
I know this place is known for breakfast or brunch but we came for dinner. Limited for options, and ran out of what I wanted originally but all in all still great meal. Cool neighborhood, we actually passed by plenty of cafes / restaurants on our way here. Dinner wasn't so busy as I could imagine brunch could be. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter type place, and you can ask for an English menu. We ordered 2 pale ale and a lamb meatballs came with potatoes, and warn cabbage slaw pretty tasty. And a baked goat cheese on top of salad. The salad had a light oil dressing with apples, almonds, tomatoes, radish, olives and others, it was very filling. Our bill came to 300Kr about $60CAN good service and cool vibe.
FYI: This review is primarily for the brunch (with a small blurb at the end for the evening entertainment). I have, for many moons now, been preaching the gospel of brunch at Manfreds and Vin, and how it's simply the best in Copenhagen. And then I went to Dyrehaven for brunch. And I've officially been converted (though Manfreds still holds a very dear place in my heart, and I will go back repeatedly for their homemade sausages and perfectly poached eggs). First of all, find me a restaurant that kills it with eggs benedict, and you have found me a restaurant that kills it generally. Okay, so Dyrehaven is hardly a restaurant (I'd say more of a café or brasserie), but listen, they KILL IT with their eggs benedict. Unlike Heidi S., I believe the use of homemade rugbrød in thick, toasted slices instead of an english muffin was the perfect added Scandinavian touch to their own version of eggs benedict. Ultimately, the most important part of an eggs benedict is not what sort of bread you use (for example, in Seattle most Northwest style eggs benedicts come on a croissant and have cream cheese and lox instead of canadian bacon or spinach, and it's still freaking awesome), but rather, the quality of the hollandaise sauce. And Dyrehaven has perfected that. What makes the brunch better is when you order the full package (Morgenmadstallerken) and get another thick and toasted slice of homemade rugbrød with smashed avocado (with a hint of lime) and sliced hazelnuts on top. And then a bowl of skyr with müesli and berries. You may or may not feel like you're going to explode afterward, but add in a 10kr shot of ginger and I'm pretty sure your hangover just disappeared AND you won't have to eat again for the rest of the day. WIN. Breakfast Pro-Tip: Brunch starts at 10 and ends at 12 and you can't reserve. On a sunny day, people show up well before 10am to claim spots at the benches out front, which happen to be in direct sunlight all morning. Come early or miss out. Blurb on the nightlife: it has been my experience that the most concentrated amount of hipster beards can be found at Dyrehaven on a Friday night. It's also nearly impossible to find a place to sit, let alone stand, if you get there after about 10pm. Cramped? Yes. Popular? Yes. Not uncommon to engage in a game of limbo out front with complete strangers at 3am? Yes. Consider yourselves warned.
I accidentally ended up at Cafe Dyrehaven after attempting to get a spot at Absalon's Fællesmorgenmad (Shared Breakfast) across the street. After arriving too late to get a seat at Absalon my friend and I wandered over to Cafe Dyrehaven to check out their menu. It looked pretty good and she had heard good things about it so we decided to check it out. Long story short, I am so glad I didn't get a seat at Absalon that morning! If I had I may not have stumbled upon Cafe Dyrehaven and had one of my favorite breakfasts/brunches in Copenhagen so far. I love the new fad of picking a few items that come on a nice board, but I also like just getting one nice brunch item sometimes. Cafe Dyrehaven is the best of both options. Also, while they have some typical Copenhagen brunch items (fancy avocado toasts, skyr + museli) they also have items you don't normally see. I was so happy to see Eggs Benedict (70kr) on the menu and some interesting sounding corn pancakes with smoked salmon (89kr) and we ordered one of each to try along with the Skyr with museli. All three items were wonderful. I was so impressed by the corn pancakes and especially with the quantity AND quality of the smoked salmon that came with them. The Eggs Benedict was also perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The skyr and muesli were equally nice and the portion was quite large - I will definitely come back just for this and coffee one day. The prices here are great, not only for the food but also for the coffee (15kr for drip coffee, mid-20 kr for espresso drinks). And, free water - a huge bonus! There is indoor and outdoor seating as well as a basket of blankets if you get cold sitting outside. The menu comes in English and Danish (a plus for local or visiting non-Danish speakers).
A quaint neighbourhood all-day café and bar in Vesterbro. This was the first place we enjoyed a couple of beers when we arrived in the city and waited to check into our nearby AirBnB. As it was warm and sunny we sat on the bench seating outside and enjoyed watching the world (and many, many cyclists) go by. From looking at other reviews it seems that their breakfasts are very decent, though we didn't have any food here - just sampled a couple of pints from their small selection of hand pumps. Staff were friendly and helpful - we liked it so much that we came back at the end of our trip for our last drink before the taxi took us to the airport.
Came here for a quick bite and got what I expected. Cafe Dyrehaven is a pretty low key bar with a cool atmosphere that offers decent meals at an alright price point. I had the fried mackerel that's served with potatoes, prawns and white asparagus. The mackerel was a bit lacking in taste but the potatoes and asparagus were cooked perfectly. Vegetables are a pretty key part of any meal and they serve you a decent sized portion so thumbs up in my books. I went on a Monday around ~7 and it was already packed. Has outdoor seating too which is nice.
Cafe Dyrehaven saved our tummies when we tried to go to another spot that was RSVP only. Glad we found Dyrehaven for breakfast as it had plenty of seating inside and outside and had excellent coffee and food. I ordered a coffee and the Avocado Delux Bacon, which is made with avocado mousse, chili, almonds, poached organic egg, organic bacon and herbs on sourdough bread. Dyrehaven really reminded me of typical USA brunch spots on the Westside (Los Angeles).
My boyfriend and I came here early on a Sunday morning and were seated immediately but had to wait until 10 am to order food. You order food and drinks up at the bar. We both started off with lattes and freshly squeeze orange juice. Once the clock struck 10, we quickly ordered the breakfast platter which came with yogurt and granola, avocado toast, and eggs benedict, and grape fruit with mint. When the food came out, my boyfriend asked if he could add a croissant and he told us we had to stand in line at the bar. REALLY FOR A CROISSANT THAT'S SITTING OUT AT THE BAR? There was a huge line so we skipped out on the croissant. The breakfast platter was really delicious. The granola with yogurt was super hearty. The eggs benedict was delicious and the poached egg was perfect. It comes with ham which was lame because I really wanted it with bacon. The avocado toast was different than others I have had since they make the avocado into a mousse. Unlike other places in Copenhagen that uses a really seedy toast, they had regular bread which we also found lame. The grapefruit was super disappointing because it was just a halved grapefruit with a mint leaf on top. You also have to carve it yourself. We were stuffed but the service was weird and the grapefruit was not worth it. To pay, you have to stand in line at the bar and this took forever as well. COME EARLY. There were people waiting to be seated before we even got our food.
Disclaimer: tourist from Seattle Cafe Dryehaven was our first breakfast spot in Copenhagen! It came highly reviewed and looked like traditional Danish food. Luckily we got the last seats before it filled up and they have menus in English which is nice. The food was good but pricey, but as we learned, everything is more expensive in Copenhagen. I got the breakfast plate which had one eggs benedict, skyr with muesli, and one slice of avocado toast. That was 120 kroner which equates to about 17 USD!! It was good but it wasn't that good! My friends each ordered just eggs benedict and I would do that or get a hard boiled eggs because those were what the majority of the locals had in front of them. Long story short, the food here is good and solid but it's not necessarily spectacular. I'd come here if you want the Danish experience. It feels very local which is cool.
Stopped into Cafe Dyrehaven before heading to Carlsberg for a brewery tour. I ordered the green shakshouka and it was very delicious. Flavorful from the spices, the egg was perfect, and the toast was perfect for dipping. Would recommend for a quick brunch spot.
I ended up here by accident because the brunch place my friend and I intended to go to was backed up for like an hour. It was right around the corner, so it was perfect. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and Skyr. They both arrived in about 10 minutes max and were absolutely delicious! The benedict tasted very fresh and was appropriately filling. Also, there were glasses and complimentary water by the bar. After finding so many cafes and restaurants that make you pay for water, any place that gives it to me for free gets brownie points. The decor in the cafe feels really homey and cozy. For a Saturday morning (around 10 AM), it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. One problem is that the seating is open. So if you can't find seating when you walk in, you have to loiter about awkwardly until some people leave. My friend and I found a seat at the bar immediately so it was not a problem for us. But just a head's up! It's relatively easy to get to. It was about a 5-10 minute walk from the S-Train stop, Dybbolsbro Station. Overall, really enjoyed my experience here.
Really cool bar with a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Food is delicious. We were there for breakfast and I had the breakfast plate - avocado mousse on rye bread, yoghurt with fruit compote and muesli and Eggs Benedict. It was gorgeous. Latte was really good too. Prices were reasonable also.
We came on a Tuesday and the place was packed, even at 8/8:30p! For a group of 5, we had a bit of a tough time snagging a table, and after 15/20mins of waiting around, we ended up outside at the shared sidewalk tables. Cafe Dyrehaven is located in the Vesterbro neighborhood (famous for being an old red light district turned into an area with funky bars in the meat packing district) and its got a great atmosphere, friendly vibes, and outdoor blankets. Amongst our group, we ordered one Moussaka, two Tagliatelle with Lightly Salted Saithe, and one Oriental Marinated Leg of Lamb, and a few beers. The Moussaka was unexpectedly delicious--it was basically a potato and eggplant lasagna. The Tagliatelle with Lightly Salted Saithe was so flavorful--the saithe (Pollock fish) savory, the tagliatelle firm but not undercooked, and the pine nuts earthy and balanced out the flavors. The Oriental Marinated Leg of Lamb was tasty, but not memorable. We enjoyed the Moussaka so much, we wanted another order, but unfortunately the kitchen closed at 9p and our tummies were denied seconds of the warm, cheesy goodness. The food is excellent, the portions generous, and the price great--Cafe Dyrehaven's perfect place for a casual meal and/or to get the night started. If I ever find myself in Copenhagen again, I'd definitely stop by for another meal, or two. read more
If you are reading this and feeling hungry and want breakfast/brunch, Dyrehaven is the right place to come to! Ask for the English menu. Try the latte and get the eggs benedict. The egg was cooked perfectly and the ham on it was so flavorful, went went with everything. The portion was no American portion, but it'll do the job. My BF got the combo #3 and everything was delicious except the cheese. He said it tasted like "butthole" but it was because we Americans aren't used to fresh cheese and not processed cheese. I did taste the cheese, it did taste a bit too cheesy for me. If you can, drop by this place and get their breakfast! read more

The Yelp reviews brought us to this little gem hidden on a lovely street corner in central / south central Copenhagen... Wow! Wow! Wow! And again, I say wow! If for nothing else, try their eggs Benedict - we had one of each (one ham and one salmon). OUT OF THIS WORLD! The Benedict is served atop a dark rye blend. A generous portion of either ham or salmon with two PERFECTLY poached eggs on top -(read my other reviews, eggs are a "must" when it comes to cooking them appropriately) - the eggs, oh the eggs were good! The hollandaise was perfectly portioned...not too lemony, not too buttery, not too thick, not too salty...just perfect! The bowl was garnished with spinach and grape tomatoes - what more can I say??? It was delicious and delightful! The café is located at the intersections of Valdemarsg and Sønder Boulevard. A seemingly quiet and quaint neighborhood amongst a beautiful background of historic buildings. Lovely! The café offers indoor and outdoor seating. Timeliness and quality are both a focus of the staff... No table side service, you do order at the bar but they are quick and efficient - no long lines to wait in. They do deliver your food and cutlery to the table...otherwise you are on your own. The lack of wait staff interruption was actually appreciated as we were able to engage and absorb the experience! Not sure when we will be back to Denmark but this will absolutely be a "must return" place on our list of things to-do!!! read more

My friends and I decided to come here for a no frills dinner. Walked in to find a dimly lit, intimate spot with some locals. We grabbed a table and asked for some menus. Ordered up at the front and waited for our food (for quite some time), paid after we were done. We ordered the baked cod and French onion soup to share. It wasn't amazing, but pretty good for the most part. The cod could've been more fresh, but the sautéed beans were delicious. The bacon was a bit much for me as it made it so that there were too many flavors going on at once. The dish was well put together, but the tomato pesto didn't really go with the fish in my opinion. The French onion soup was sweeter than I was used to, which was good; it was still flavorful. The cheese bread was pretty good too, but it was a tad bit too filling after the bread basket. The service was alright, we kept having to ask for things (not really a restaurant, so I understand). One thing my friends and I loved, the old school music! It didn't really match the atmosphere, but who cares. I'd imagine this would be a great spot for brunch as long as you like it simple. read more

Came here on a Saturday for lunch. It was very crowded and was a bit difficult to find a place to sit. Tried to place an order at the counter first before I found a seat, but was told that I had to find a seat first. Got the double smørrebrød, was really fantastic! Enjoyed myself. read more

A small cafe with a lot of people on their laptops working. We came here due to yelp reviews and the place didn't disappoint. You order upfront and they give you your drinks (cappuccino was bold and strong) right away. We ordered Eggs Benedict, made with fresh ingredients and very light. Loved very bite of it. read more

A must eat when in Copenhagen. The smørrebrød is excellent and as my sister in law says "the stjerneskud is to die for"! I will continue to return upon every visit to Copenhagen. read more

Wow! We hadn't had a really good meal since we got to Copenhagen and this place hit the spot. It's quite small and was packed when we got there, so we had to wait a little bit for a seat, but after a few minutes a spot opened up. We decided on the veal and potatoes and cauliflower soup. You have to go to the bar to order which was no big deal. I ordered a delicious IPA as well. When the food arrived we were amazed by the portions. The bowl of soup was enormous and the plate of veal and potatoes was huge! We could have easily split one of these dishes, but we're so glad we got both, because they were amazing! The prices were just right, food was out of this world, and.the staff was very kind, (even offering us a menu in English.) Also, they had self serve water which I thought was a great jester as so many places make you buy bottled water. Great place and we will be back for what we hear is a delicious breakfast! read more

Ok, this one is for all the people who want to meet natives whilst traveling. Very smooth atmosphere, no one is in a hurry, everybody chilled and relaxed. Kudos to Denmark here and the menu is actually exactly what I was looking for: A place where you could eat, what I assume to be typical danish food. Traveling on my own unfortunately means eating on my own, or at least most of the time. Maybe not the best place to eat solo but also not the worst. Is there even such a place? Anyways, meal was fantastic, I'd for sure go back but maybe with a friend or two! read more

Best Breakfast in Europe! Amazing Eggs Benedict. It was perfect. Ordered an Americano Coffee. Highly recommend this place! Reasonably priced and casual. Free wifi too! read more
