Came here with a friend for a snack and some wine. We sat outside with blankets and heaters. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had some Smorrebrods steak tartare and herring. Both were very good. We had been to a lot of places to have glogg however Europa had the best tasting glogg in our opinion. It tasted like a full bodied red with all the spices. We went here for lunch, and were somewhat disappointed. My wife's hamburger seemed more like some kind of meatloaf, and our lemonades were much too sweet. We complained about the lemonade, but the server refused to give us any manner of price adjustment or other help. read more

This place is located in Strøget, which is a center shopping area and also a touristy area of the city. The prices are pretty expensive but this is Copenhagen, after all. I get it. The place has the option of sitting inside or outside, we opted for outside to people watch. Denmark, specifically Copenhagen is known for their open faced sandwiches (smørrebrød), so of course we have to get some here. This is Europe, so expect a long wait time and expect the waiter to let you sit as long as you like before getting the check. You won't get it unless you flag the waiter down, so that's what we did. The food was good, but nothing that impressive to me, personally. I got the chicken salad open-faced sandwich with bacon and my husband got the fish sandwich. I guess this place is a bit touristy due to its location but the food was great. Brunch is more like tapas style. Small dishes. All super cute and pretty. The chef makes every dish very presentable and appealing to the eyes. I eat with my eyes, so pretty worka for me. Their "pancakes" which are more like crepes are delicious. It comes with ice cream and housemade jam. The brunch dish is an assorted of egg, ham, fruit. Everything you want in a brunch. So good. Three star food in a five star setting. I'm just back from two weeks in Denmark and Sweden. I had beer and dinner with old friends at Cafe Europa on my last night before returning home. And I have to admit that this was the least interesting meal I had in Scandinavia -- and that includes a number of lunches at museums and airports. But it is a terrific setting: Amagertorv next to the Stork Fountain. A New Orleans style jazz band was playing just south of Cafe Europa between Amagertorv and the canal. And the weather was perfect. Cafe Europa 1989 is located at the center of Strøget. You can sit inside and outside. My friends and I prefer to sit outside in the summer because it gets really warm inside. The waiters are polite but the service takes long time. Every time I have been there, we have waited a long time for the check or for a drink. But the food is very tasty! The brunch for example is very delicious and good looking. But once I was there with my friend and I ordered a cappuchino, but it was cold when I got it and it was very small, compared to the price. First time there, ordered brunch, very delicious! LOVE the sausage in there, oh my goodness that was good! Lots of people prefer sitting outside when the weather is good so there're lots of space inside around 11 am. I had to wait quite a while to have someone get me an English menu and order, but food brought in quite fast. And the good taste it turned out, I'd say it's totally worth the waiting! Bringing an American girlfriend and her six year old to Copenhagen necessarily means there will be a need for pancakes one or more mornings. Several places offered them, some with better results than others. We found a list of five places in downtown with really good pancakes. Cafe Europa was one such establishment on that list. Why it was on that list, I have no idea. First the positive: service was relatively fast and efficient. Not particularly friendly but functional - in other words, standard Danish. When we sent an item back (just one, mind) it was removed from the bill without a word. Yay. But not really. As for the negative, there were no pancakes. I asked the waiter if they could make pancakes, and he said sure. Cool. But what we wereserved, was one flat pancake folded. Just that. I know it technically met the requirements, but it was abysmal. No syrup. Just a little jar of fermented blackcurrant jam - the six year old wasn't about it. The brunch we ordered was ridiculously expensive considering what was served. According to the menu it included an omelette. I don't know where in the world that would constitute an omelette. I had to consult the menu to make sure it was an omelette. I couldn't taste what it was. The sausage was bland. The skyr with syrup (so they DO have syrup, just not for pancakes?) was decent but how could it not be? There was some cheese and some fruit involved too. It was bland. The eggs Benedict were somewhat edible, but in honesty I wouldn't come back for them. Not exactly bad, but just not what they could've been. Or what it could have been. It was just one egg. The item we sent back was the Virgin Mary. Ordered with the request for it to be spicy, it looked like I felt after that brunch: like life just wasn't worth it anymore. One sip was enough to send it back. Europa seems to stay alive mostly due to tourists. I don't know if I was there on a bad day, but I shan't be back to find out. Price to quality ratio was well below expectancy levels and in a city like Copenhagen, where you can find so many places that do amazing brunches for far less, it's not worth it just for location. read more

Brunch is expensive here, costing around 170 kroners, but it is the biggest reason for going here, apart from the great location, and nice ambience. There are a choice of two brunches, and they include lots of small dishes, ranging from greek yoghurt with honey (amazing) through to croissants, specialised sausages, creamy scrambled egg, french toast with pates, salmon, etc, etc. To be honest I can't remember everything that is included, but there is a lot more I haven't mentioned. You get a choice of coffee or a fresh juice or yoghurt shake included with the brunch. This is definitely one of the best places to experience Copenhagen fine cuisine, and is an ideal visit for any tourist to Copenhagen, as over looking the square, and with a true mix of highly educated Copenhagen city folk around you, it will produce a memorable experience. read more

Because we are vegetarians, the menu was limited, but we did have some choices. For what we ordered, two salads, two sandwiches, three soft drinks and one beer, we felt the cost of the lunch was outrageous; over $100 US. As it is in the center of shopping district wound up here, not expecting much as experience shows these are tourist traps for the hungry not culinary destinations. And our assessment was correct. Would give it ZERO if possible. Food in a word inedible. Had beef tartare that was tasteless, and looked it. Hamburger was some strange looking piece of meat as well . We ordered a nice bottle of red wine which came in some tiny glass, the only glasses they had. Paid the bill and went to a different restaurant on Nyhaven to eat. This is a beautiful cafe right in the main walking street. However, I only give it 3 stars because it can get incredibly crowded and the service can be a bit slow. However, the upside is it is a great place to hang out if you can get a seat - especially if it is raining or snowing. They offer free newspapers on a rack, the coffee is good and the food selection is pretty quality. Keep this place in mind if you want to meet someone in the city. If you can't get in here, then there are many other places nearby. read more
