I came here with a friend on a Wednesday night around 8pm for drinks. We sat at the bar, but there were some open tables while we were there. I had the sorrel mocktail, which was delicious! I'd honestly go back and have it again. We also ordered the meatballs, which were served with a curry aioli and plantains. There was a live jazz band, which was pretty good, too. read more

This place is not what it used to be. Rowdy crowd of people just trying to cut you while you've been waiting in line for the bathroom patiently on a busy night. My friend and I just got into the club, waited in line for a long time for the bathroom. A girl with a leopard fur hat was behind us and decided to stand by the front of the line, claiming that she's been there. They argued this with me and my friend even though we know what we saw. One girl from the group grabbed my friend and threw her to the ground. We managed to calm the fight down while we waited for the next person to leave the bathroom. When we finally got in the bathroom they proceeded to obnoxiously knock on the door of the bathroom. When we came out, they kept harassing us and one of them put my hands on my face and pushed me and dragged me by my hair. Security came and asked what happened but one of the people from the other group who was harassing us worked there so they bought his story, kicked us out, and let them stay despite them bruising my friend's face. Security escorted us out when we did nothing wrong, and did nothing to remove the people who attacked us. All this on top of having to pay twice to get into an event we couldn't even attend. This place is full of security and people who are just playing off connections and not the truth. read more

A lovely spot, no matter the occasion. I have been here twice so far, one time on a Friday when they had DJs playing afrobeats, and another time on a Thursday where they had a jazz night. Both experiences were lovely. When you walk in, there's a bar area with some seating and then you're led into the back room that had seating for jazz that transitions into a dance floor later in the night. While I didn't try their food, it looked intriguing and I'd definitely love to try it next time. I love a simple menu but I would love to see a few more options for the food. Their cocktails looked incredible too. My friends and I shared a bottle of red wine. Our server was wonderful and helped us choose what to pick. Heads up that they include gratuity in your check no matter the size of your party. Generally, I love that Cafe Erzulie is a community oriented space that supports artists. Both times, I felt an infectious, warm energy emanating from the space as we enjoyed the wonderful music being played. I can't wait to come back! read more

Came to this place for a jazz night, watching a friend perform here. I ordered their version of an alcoholic coffee, but without alcohol. I ordered this and the flatbread. The flatbread and hummus was great, but they still charged full price for the non-alcoholic coffee ($20). The atmosphere was great, but a bit pricey. read more

I really don't like writing bad reviews, but when I do it's mostly so that the places I review can do better. We came here for jazz Wednesday and were the first ones there when it opened. The service was absolutely atrocious. There was only 1 server for the entire place and it was his first day! There should have been more servers so everyone got the proper service. It was super slow and when we got our checks, there weren't pens included to sign our statements or leave tips, but there was a gratuity added so we just left instead of waiting another hour for the server to come back. The table next to us had their statement given to them but their card was lost! Yikes. The food was mediocre. Honestly pretty terrible to me, but to my boyfriend it was mediocre so I'll go with what he said because he's trying to be nice. The wings were so dry it was like eating charred dust. I visibly gagged when I ate one but my boyfriend is a fast eater so it was too late to ask them to take it away. The tacos were okay. The cocktails were weak. The plantains foster were quite possibly one of the worst desserts I've had because they didn't flambe them, so it was like plantains in a dish full of rum. I have never gagged so much at food at a restaurant before, so I stopped eating. Anyway, if you want to see jazz on Wednesdays, it starts here around 9. For the best experience, buy a bottle of wine or pregame at another bar somewhere. The patio is a really nice space, it's really disappointing that it was a mediocre/disaster of a night. This review is solely based on my experience visiting Cafe Erzulie after hours for cocktails and music. I would love to visit the venue again during the day to check out the cafe-- I've heard amazing reviews. The concept for the space is dope! The venue is a cafe, local flower shop, event space/ bar in the evening. I went on a Friday night and the DJ was dope, while the crowd was a little on the younger side ( mid to late twenties)my friends and I had a great time. The Dj was dope and the cocktails were good. I don't recall the name of the drink we ordered but it was made with homemade sorrel. I would recommend Cafe Erzulie for a night out with friends. Grab a great cocktail and chill! I went here on a Saturday night for their DJ Mike Nasty event. It was very Overcrowded to the point where it became a health hazard outside. There was no staff outside for crowd control. People were shoving and pushing. On top of that one of the bouncers was very very rude!! They also did not state that you needed cash to get in. They stated that you had to pay at the door which I was completely fine with. Establishments that I have been to usually have a card swipe when you pay at the door. This is 2021‍. I do not recommend ever going here when they have a DJ party night!! Smh You are better off going here when they have jazz night or comedy nights, when the crowd is a lot less people and you don't have to deal with a rude and obnoxious Bouncer. They need to stick to being a cafe and doing low key live performances and comedy nights and stop trying to turn into a club on Saturday night. People could have seriously got hurt and trampled over outside!! It was horrible. read more

This place might be good after noon or for night, but my review is for anyone who is looking for quick nice comfy breakfast. I have a pet peeve, and it's basically you should deliver what you market or say. If you say breakfast is at 8:30am, you should be ready to serve at 8:30am. My partner and I enjoy breakfast and coffee dates in the morning and we really wanted to like this place. We were able to park right in front as well which was nice, however when we walked in at 8:40am you could tell they were scrambling to get ready. They greeted us casually and were not rude, but also not helpful. After about 3 minutes I got up from a table and ask if I could order breakfast, and they told me breakfast doesn't start until 9am. I understand that places take time to open, however if this is the case you should write you open at 9am. This is deceiving and makes it difficult for people to plan accordingly. Overall the interior is cute and employees were not rude. I'm sure that it has good food and experiences to offer, however this place is a 2 because of inconsistency and my experience. read more

Popped in on a weekday to get some work done and I was disappointed with this space. First, it was surprisingly loud for a Tuesday afternoon - not ideal when you're working remotely and need to jump on conference calls. The space is pretty small so only 3-4 tables have outlet access and they were all taken when I got in. It's also a bit too grungy/dirty for my liking. I just wanted to wipe everything down with a clorox wipe (especially with this Coronavirus madness). The barista also seemed uninterested and didn't seem warm or friendly. In any case, I already made my way in so while I couldn't stay and work I decided to grab an iced chai latte and the breakfast sandwich to quickly eat. The chai latte had great flavor but far too much milk which watered down the chai spice. While the breakfast sandwich was tasty (honey bacon was really good) but for $8 it should be bigger and the bread to egg ratio was totally off. I was disappointed because this place comes up constantly as a brunch option but I think this is best for a grab and go. read more

Hey you guyssssss, was able to get into this spot to continue the bday fun. Saturday night shenanigans! The DJ was great! The vibes were lit, mixed age group, everyone just feels the music and has a great time. We had a section with bottles, the staff was attentive and super chill. I came here around midnight during the weekend for late night drinks. Cute cafe spot that transforms into a lounge at night. At the front of the building there is a bar with average priced drinks, mini dance floor, and dj that plays Jamaican music. When you make your way through the dance floor and pass the sliding doors, you enter into a huge colorful backyard with multiple seating areas. The doors seperate the noise from the dance area, so the backyard is perfect for intimate conversations. There were a decent amount of people for a Saturday night. The crowd was very mixed, but super friendly so it was easy to mingle with everyone. I love the fact that there were inspirational signs hung up everywhere. Very pleasant sight to see while sipping on a delicious cocktail. Someone also told me during the spring time, the trees bloom peaches! OVERALL - This is a very chill late night spot that is perfect for socializing with friends or even a date! Only downfall is that there's only one unisex restroom so there could be a long wait. But it's right next to the DJ booth, so you can jam out to some music to surpass the time. read more

Went here on a Sunday night. Had some drinks and vibes. Was a lowkey Sunday vibe and the weather was nice so the outside was open. When it's not Thursday, Friday, Saturday, it's a good lowkey chill spot! The only thing I'd mention is if it's not like a prime event I'd recommend trying to get in without a cover. read more

My friend and I were visiting Brooklyn and I happened to stumble into this little gem in Brooklyn. Be forewarned that there is a brilliant plant shop in the front of the cafe. Beautiful budding plants and flowers welcome you into the shop, and Angel the wonderful Brooklyn Native greeted me at the counter. I was enticed by the food pictures, but I got there too early, but driven but local cuisine...I waited until the kitchen opened and thank goodness I did! The chocolate croissant was delicious but the griot sandwich gave me life. They didn't have pork so they gave me chicken but the flavor, the way the bread seemed to absorb all the juices...definitely made my belly happy. I will be looking for this quaint cafe in the summer so I can enjoy the patio. They do do happy hour and other special events. Thank you for this little bit of original Brooklyn. read more

Really lovely spot off Broadway in Bed Stuy. Lots of natural light and tons of beautiful plants! It looks like they are building an outdoor seating area, which will have a ton of space. There is a good amount of seating inside and free wifi, which makes this cafe perfect for studying/working. He made it difficult to enter and then was rude to my friend when she was trying to enter, all while a lot of younger kids were cutting the line and no one was monitoring it. It's a cool little spot with fun music specials they do with their DJs. It can get a little cramped if you go to one of those, so get there early to get a table. In fact, I strongly insist you get a table because otherwise you will have a very difficult time getting service. Eventually my party grabbed a small one, but we never ended up getting any drinks because their serving staff was just so disoriented by the crowd. Furthermore, the crowd itself was not great. People were sour, in a bad mood, and not particularly friendly. There's a million and one coffee shops in NYC but none like you. Cafe Erzulie is a top 3 for all the right reasons. It's inclusivity, diversity, ability to integrate with the community without gentrification, use of the space, the spicy PB&Js, the nuttiest cold brew in town, and all in all immaculate vibes. The whole experience and layout of the cafe is what makes this place feel like home. The florist in the front, creatives hosting thrift parties or photo shoots in the courtyard, fellow remote/freelancers..i could go on. And to top it all off, the food is heavenly. It's also a fun place to come at night when it's a bar, there's great music and if you go before 11 there's no cover, which is awesome. I honestly think this cafe is really great. Only a few issues have come up that turns me away from probably coming here again. The first time at this shop the internet was cut off and the shop took almost an hour attempting to reconnect. The second time I went, I went for their breakfast sandwich and then then didn't have the ingredients ready to make it. The third time I went, I wanted the breakfast sandwich again (I was craving it since my first visit) and this time the kitchen wasn't open at all. So although a great place, I will probably continue on to find other places to get work done. Definitely worth a visit though. Update: Gave this place another shot and officially not coming back. Came in with a friend, ordered two sandwiches. After waiting around for a long time we realized about a half hour passed and our food didn't make it to the counter. Even though they had the portable heaters on it wasn't enough to compensate the cold. We kept our coats on the entire time. My favorite spot in the neighborhood! This area desperately needed good quality coffee (not a huge fan of little skips) and Cafe Erzulie came to the rescue. Their food menu is small but perfectly delicious. Great pastries and the Griot sandwich was bomb!!! Free wifi is a bonus for a comfy tropical office vibe if you need to get work done. Lastly, at night Cafe Erzulie transforms into a fun bar with different DJs, live bands, and random fun events. I'm really happy to have this place in the neighborhood! Been living in this neighborhood for 9 years. This cafe is the absolutely coziest place ever!! Lots of plants, bright sun lights, the huge backyard with great real coffee! We went to Cafe Erzulie for breakfast. Their emu looked promising, and we thought, even though a few bad reviews, we would try it out. We were wrong. The cashier, girl taking orders, was icy cold--very rude. But what really felt wrong was that she was only acting rude with us, but other people came in and she completely changed her attitude towards them. I didn't understand where her hostile attitude came from. Then, she informed us the chef was going on her break so the kitchen was closed and we wouldn't be able to order food. Is that normal for this place? We decided to order some coffee but I didn't feel comfortable after those encounters, so we ordered to go and left to find somewhere else for breakfast. Don't make the mistake we made, of going regardless of the warnings on these reviews. read more
