Was brought here by a dear friend, a neighborhood regular. The cocktail was amazing, selection very diverse- many hard-to-find liquors, etc. Bartender was incredibly knowledgable and attentive. My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back. read more

It's clear this place takes inspiration from Japanese vinyl listening bars, from their menu of highballs to their vinyl collection and attention to the audio experience. I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice. read more

I don't really love bars that have bouncers to get inside of them, especially in such an inviting neighborhood. We were able to get in with no reservation but couldn't stay long, which is fine. I think your experience is dependent on the DJ of the night. The place felt very loud and the drinks were good but nothing out of the world. Don't let the yelp picture and decor fool you about this speakeasy bar. The only exclusive thing about this place is who they decide looks right enough to enter. Friend told host we had 5 people, instead of going back inside to check availability first, he crack open door all the way to look at each of us. Since I was by the door, I was able to see inside, pretty empty if you ask me. Unless they playing hide and seek. Host went inside to "check." We all knew what that inspection was really about. But to keep the entertainment going we waited to see what happens next. A customer stepped outside, he deliberately shut the door behind him. You guess it, it seems the patron share the same view as the host. Then the same host came back and told us there was a reservation arriving in 10 minutes. Don't just take my word for it. My friends and I frequented this place in previous years and really enjoyed it. Not anymore, sadly. Today, I discovered they're engaging in unwelcoming gatekeeping. A hostile host (50/60s with a ponytail) refused entry, saying that there were no available tables even though two men had just exited (I was one of a party of 3). Another group of 3 or 4 arrived outside shortly after us; he said the same thing to them. My friends and I walked to a nearby bar; not even 5 minutes passed before I witnessed the other party enter. A few minutes later, another group exited the lounge. Figuring we'd re-attempt entry now that a few people had left, we approached the door. The host again claimed that there were "no tables" available. We calmly questioned him; he was hostile and condescending the entire time. I really used to enjoy coming to this bar. I live in the area and have been here at least 6 times over the years. Today, however, my experience was completely different and extremely disappointing. There's now someone stationed at the front of the cocktail lounge who goes inside to "check for seats." I was told there were no seats available, yet when I looked inside, I clearly saw open seats at the bar and only two others waiting for a seated at the bar . What made this even more uncomfortable was the fact that I was the only brown person there, and there were no other brown patrons inside at the time. It honestly felt like there were "no seats available" for me specifically. If I had been seated and treated like I always have been in other restaurants and bars, everything would've been fine. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and left me feeling unwelcome. This was not the experience I expected from a place I've supported multiple times. Very disappointed. 0/10. read more

This place is VERY picky/ choosy with who they let in. I guess it overall depends on the mood of the staff. I wont make it a race thing but the reviews speak for themselves along with the sense of an unwelcoming, and underwhelming customer service. To be in such a culturally diverse area this place has alot of nerve. It's 2026 and its BROOKLYN. The owner needs to get a grip, and is on google picking and choosing which negative comments he wants to reply too... this place has so much potential but very sucky vibes. THE DJ is great tho! Cute and dim-lit cocktail bar hidden away on the busy Park Slope 5th Ave BID. The storefont is actually pretty difficult to find and you'd be surprised but the front door is a bit of a puzzle. If you walk up to this place and see a small group of people struggling to find the front door, much less open the door, you've come to the right place. The cocktails range from the textbook classics to modern takes on the classics. Also worth noting that although they do not serve food, they will not allow you to bring certain foods at their discretion. I learned the hard way and had to scarf down my tacos from the truck down the block in the blistering cold before coming in. read more

I really wanted to love Honeycomb, but our recent visit was a let-down from start to finish. Despite the bar's stylish vinyl-listening concept, the service was anything but harmonious. Our group of professional women was greeted by Naomi behind the bar, whose curt attitude and dismissive remarks made us feel like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. However, kudos to bartender Todd. The moment he stepped in, the vibe shifted: friendly conversation, great drink suggestions, and perfectly balanced cocktails. Todd single-handedly salvaged what could have been a total disaster. Atmosphere and music can only carry a place so far; consistent hospitality matters just as much. Until management addresses the glaring service gap between staff members, I can't recommend Honeycomb--and I won't be back unless I'm sure Todd is working. read more

Super chill spot to grab a cocktail and listen to some tunes. Very small, intimate bar with great vibes. Came here with a couple friends, and it was pretty busy on a Thursday evening. There's limited seating at the front and the back, and a fairly decent bar counter, and a ledge in the back where you can stand. The place is inspired by Japanese record bars, and for you audiophiles out there, it's a pretty sweet sound system setup. Great music and vibe when we were there. Also, special props to the service - on a crowded and bustling evening, the bartender came out behind the bar to ask if we wanted first dibs on a table since we had been standing in the back for so long. A Japanese style hi-fi listening bar in Brooklyn you say... I knew I had to check it out tout suite. The first challenge is not walking past the place on the street -- apparently the new definition of "speakeasy" is just not having a sign and making the door handle hard to locate. Once you've finally made it inside the next challenge is finding a place to sit and a hook to put all your crap on. But listen, it's narrow but also a lovely warm space with dim lighting and excellent acoustics. The music of course rocks, and I remarked to my friend it was cool to be in a bar where I can both hear him next to me AND hear the music clearly. Though ngl I was sort of hoping this was gonna be like a dead silent bar with people in turtlenecks and berets sipping cocktails and listening to jazz -- alas, it's not. The vibe was definitely more date-night meets chill small gatherings. But of course the most important part is the drinks: Honeycomb seems to specialize in Whiskeys and Mezcal, and they had an interesting variety of both on display. I actually opted for sake and this one gin cocktail that had truffle honey and lemon in it -- uh, amazing. A LOT. but in a good way. The servers were super nice and friendly, definitely went out of their way to put a personal touch on service which I haven't experienced in a bar since I was a regular at a dive bar in the early 2000s. I've been meaning to check out a trendy, new listening lounge and was finally able to do so at Honeycomb. We came here after dinner on a weeknight. Crowd seems to swing 30s/40s. Definitely a more relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. As expected, the acoustics were solid and the playlist was esoteric. No popular songs and you'd likely need to be an audiophile to recognize anything. All vinyls and it seemed to be bartender's / DJ's choice. We came earlier in the night and were able to grab the private table in the back for four. Almost all the seating is best for two plus the bar seating works for smaller groups. Certainly not suitable for larger groups. They had three beers on draft. All craft and as wide of variety as you can get on just three taps. They've got wines, a full bar, a solid whiskey selection with a focus on Japanese whiskies. The whiskey list is pretentious and most pours are gonna run $30+. I opted for a pour of barrel strength Old Carter's bourbon. There is one single occupancy restrooms. Service was very quick and helpful. I appreciated the mature and intimate atmosphere. read more

Don't bother. This is a pretentious, "our way or the highway" kind of place. I had a bad experience here due to a bartender named Naomi who was not very kind. I left a review elsewhere naming her and calling out her behavior using respectful language. The manager/owner responded defensively, making false accusations about the behavior of me and the young lady I was with, and claimed we "disrespected" their bartender. Not sure since when writing a review about a bad experience caused by a single staff member was considered disrespectful yet here we are. Rather than be met with some sort of understanding for the experience we had, we were told we were not welcome back. Putting the fact that we would never want to go back aside, as two black women, I don't think we were ever truly welcome in this space. The response from management made it seem like we were inside of Honeycomb twerking, cussing, smoking, and throwing up gang signs; when in actuality, we were a pair of professionals who might have overlooked one of their many rules. What could've easily been a kind reminder from their staff turned into a night of attitude and sass from Naomi and an utterly disgusting response to our grievances from management. If you are black or could be mistaken as black, keep walking down 5th ave and find a place that'll treat you like a human being. read more

The vibe is great here. We went on a Saturday night and there was a great DJ vinyl. The sound system is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend the cocktail specials - glassware is top of the line so you feel really special - close your eyes, take a sip and you are transported into another musical dimension. DJ is astounding, came in around 8:30 and it was a speakeasy jazz vibe that turned into tasteful world tunes. Great atmosphere, excellent mixologist and perfect mixture of Gin and vermouth in the Rolls Royce cocktail. The music gives the essence of an eccentric modern meets old school NYC vibe. Crowd is very friendly and everyone is very laid back including the bartenders. Would recommend this place for a romantic date and to impress anyone visiting town. It is a cocktail bar with a lot of potential, but I think the drink options need to upgraded and a schedule of DJs, or at least genres, be publicized. Quality: A pretty generic cocktail list. I went with the Martian Landscape, which seemed a bit more fun and creative than the rest. With whisky, lemon, honey, and a red wine float, it looked beautiful, but the flavor was not my favorite. The red wine was the problem, I think it was a bit too bold and overpowering for the drink. Quantity: Typical cocktail sizes. Value: $14-$18 for Cocktails. Ambiance: Honeycomb Hi-Fi Lounge is a cocktail and listening bar located in Park Slope. A newer entry to the trend of bars focused on a more relaxing setting to listen to vinyl. The entrance is not well marked, look for a multi-colored window pane. Inside they have a small lounge area near the entrance and then a bar that stretches to the back. Long and skinny space with dark and intimate vibes. I don't know if I came at a weird time, but no one was at the record player and I didn't get the sense that records were spinning, seemed like just an 80s pop list. Crowd: A decent crowd on Thursday evening, a few open seats, but felt busy. Service: Friendly bartender, but the ordering set-up is a bit awkward if you are not sitting at the bar. The actual space is near and dear to my heart. This is where the old Wolf & Deer was. One of my favorite cocktail bars that closed down. Luckily, the space is now occupied by a trendy and fun new spot. It's not easy to get a spot in here and they don't have reservations. You kind of have to come on a good night or on the side till something opens up. The place just like it's predecessor, is super narrow. Once you get one, you'll be nice and cozy. The cocktails are all spirit forward and properly made. I really enjoyed their mezcal drinks. Despite being a bit snug, the place has a great vibe.
