When we walked into this restaurant, we were surprised to see how nicely decorated it was. The decor was chic, as well as being inviting and warm. The restaurant itself was more on the small side however, it was a good fit for the number of customers at the time. Since it was a nice day outside, we decided to eat on the patio. The patio faced the street, and was nicely enclosed with flower pots decorating the edges. Once we had settled down and chose our items, we waited about 15-20 minutes, which we found to be a bit too long. As we were about to ask the waitress where our meals were, we were brought our items. I had settled on the chicken focaccia sandwich with sweet potato fries; the chicken in my sandwich was dry, with only a small amount of garlic spread inside of the bun. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries though, as did my daughter, whom took nibbles of the fries from my plate. My daughter had gotten the pasta with red sauce, which looked like chunks of tomatoes mashed up, and spread on the top of the dish. The taste was also inadequate, as my daughter hardly ate it. My mother settled on the fish tacos, which were heavily battered. My son chose the hamburger, which he enjoyed, especially with the fries on the side. We weren't too keen on the food, as many of the food items were subpar, and the prices were high. Luckily, the children ate free, as the restaurant had a deal that all children ate free on Sunday. We found that to be a plus however, the price was still high despite the removal of two children's meals. Overall, this restaurant had a nice ambiance however, the food wasn't worth the price, and we didn't find the service to be accommodating. Despite asking about recommendations for the area, the waitress told us that she wasn't aware of what was available, and to just walk up and down the main road. We were hoping for more of a recommendation however, we didn't receive it. We definitely wouldn't return to this restaurant in the future if we were in the area again .

Our group of 8 was participating in the Kilt Run event and booked a table weeks before the event…read more We got a call the day before to demand that everyone had to be there on time or we would lose the table. After the race started, two of the group who were not running went to the restaurant to confirm that we were all still coming but some would be a few minutes late as they could not finish the race in time and the manager was not happy with that. I got a call during my race from one of our group to say don't waste time getting changed after the race as they were not letting any of our party be let in and seated until most of our party was there. So we all arrived sweaty and uncomfortable to sit down to dinner. I called the owner/manager over to complain about the way we were treated and she said that in past years (before covid) at race events, there had been lineups waiting to get in. Last night there were no lineups and there were several empty tables during our time there. She finished by saying I'm sorry you feel that way and left.

The Long Version: The hubster and I had lunch at the Rocky River Cafe and it was fantastic. They have their regular menu but then they also have a special menu that changes daily. We were thrilled to see lobster rolls on their special menu the day we went. It was $23.95 for a lobster roll, coleslaw and fries or a salad. I got mine with the salad and my husband got his with fries. The lobster roll was big, much bigger than at other places out east. The bun was like a hoagie rather than a hot dog bun. Bigger is always better! Lol. The lobster meat was plentiful and really tasty. I liked that they didn't mix the lobster meat with the mayo but rather slathered the bread with mayo and filled the sandwich with buttered lobster meat. It made it easier for me to remove some of the mayo, since I'm not a huge fan of mayo. The bun was soft and fresh. I had asked for the salad dressing on the side and the server even wrote it down because she said "oh I have to write that down." Despite all this, the salad came dressed :( It was a bit overdressed for my liking, but not excessively so, and we were hungry, so I just ate it. It was a spring mix, a slice of cucumber (it was cut on the oblique, so not as stingy as it sounds), a ring of red pepper and a few grape tomatoes cut into quarters. The dressing was an herb vinaigrette. My husband's fries were delicious. I sort of regretted not getting fries, haha. The coleslaw was mayo based and had cabbage and carrots. It did not have much seasoning to it. I did not enjoy it and gave most of it to my husband. My husband also had a coffee after the meal ($3.25). Service was pleasant. We chose to sit in the little front room which just had 3 tables in it, so it's a bit secluded and quieter. The main dining room is bigger and more open. We enjoyed being in the small room but it was a bit cold in there. I don't think the insulation is good (it was freezing outside). Washrooms are upstairs and were also very cold. Although oddly the landing before the washrooms was very warm. There was no hot water in the washrooms. Only ice cold water to wash hands. Yikes. Despite the cold washrooms and cold dining area at the front of the restaurant, and my overdressed salad, I still really enjoyed my meal and would return. Street parking or paid parking lot parking only, but street parking is free for 2 hours and lot parking is free on weekends. Review #38 (2025)

One of my colleagues is from Perth and when I told her my husband and I were doing a day trip to Perth as part of our staycation, she recommended we have lunch at Fieldhouse. I love bakeries, so we followed her recommendation. The place is a lot smaller than I expected. It only has seating for 8 inside (4 tables of 2) and 4 picnic tables outside (so seating for about 16 outside). I got the Chicken and Brie sandwich ($14.75) and added a side salad for my husband and I to share ($5). My husband got the Ham and Swiss sandwich ($14.25) and we also got a cruffin ($5.25) for dessert, but ended up taking it home. Before we left my husband got an Americano to go ($3). I enjoyed my sandwich. The bread was crusty and held the ingredients of the sandwich well. The peppery arugula in the sandwich went well with the chicken and Brie. I was thrilled that the chicken was real roasted chicken breast meat (and not deli meat, lol). The aioli was flavourful but a bit excessive in quantity for my tastes. It dripped onto the plate with every bite, lol. The salad was leaf lettuce, shredded cabbage and carrots. Vegetables were fresh. I asked for the dressing on the side and it came as requested. The dressing was a creamy dressing and on the runny side. I'm glad I asked for it on the side, as I used only about a third of it. I had a bite of my husband's sandwich and it was ok, but I much preferred mine. He liked his better, so it all worked out. His was on a fluffier and softer bread. The ham was deli ham, but it tasted ok. The Swiss cheese was nippy. Service was pleasant. My husband enjoyed his Americano. We had the Brownie Cruffin at home. The pastry was flakey and delicious. The chocolate filling was like a rich chocolate pudding. It was very decadent. Overall we enjoyed our meal, but I found it a bit pricey, but I guess in today's economy, this is what you pay for sandwiches. Street parking only. (125)
