If you are in or around Kerikeri check out Cafe Jerusalem. Delicious Israeli cuisine, and well priced too. The dining room spills out onto a cobblestone courtyard, which is good times in summer. They have some tasty drinks including homemade lemonade, Israeli beer (Goldstar), and turkish coffee. I loved the falafel pita - some of the best falafel I've had, and the burekas (savoury pastry filled with labaneh and zaatar or spicy potato and mushroom) were fantastic, dusted with a little sumac and served with a little tabuleh. At $4 they were a perfect add on to ensure I didn't leave hungry. read more

The food was decent but the owners are extremely rude and impatient with their patrons (I witnessed the same behavior with multiple people). Seems like there is bad energy in the place. This restaurant could be so much better if you were simply greeted with a smile rather than feeling like an inconvenience for being there. read more

Greatspot to have a coffee, falafel, gyro or salad. You've got to enjoy the smooth yet longer than McDonald's pace and also the fact that you may sit in the courtyard as the seating inside the restaurant is quite limited. Great place to catch up with friends too as they don't mind if you order from the adjacent restaurant, Curry King. read more
