I love steak. Now,…read morewith that statement out of the way let us move on to why I decided to give this business 4 stars (which in my book is pretty high). 1. The Prime Steak was delicious, definitely get it medium as the menu recommends and pick the special steak sauce (I don't know what is in it, but it was fantastic). Flavorful, tender and definitely not overcooked which is quite easy with medium and 8 oz of steak. 2. Masala Tea coupled with Caramel Cheesecake was just the right topper upper (if that makes sense) after a delicious Prime Steak. I couldn't and wouldn't have wanted to pair it any other way. The only reason why it did not receive the last and final star was because of the atmosphere (which has the tables set up quite strange) and the wait staff. Not that the staff was poor mannered or rude, but that they weren't quite as attentive as I felt the pricing would have required. Overall great experience and I'm definitely going back again soon.

The place is also a shop, and you can even pick up a quick meat cone at the front counter to snack and wander if you prefer. Then they go and tarnish their shine with a very average cafe. Tea, coffee, sandwiches I can handle but rubbish salads with no dressing isn't so fun. Sometimes expansion is not the answer.

It is always pretty busy with locals especially on a Saturday morning. Rowans is a posh cafe, clean and friendly service. Breakfast is good, but compared to a normal cafe it is a bit expensive. Their menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. This is the only cafe at this end of Barkingside so if you find yourself coming out of the library feeling a bit hungry you might as well pop in :)

Myself and most people I know really like it - and I have often met with friends here for lunch. What I like about it is how no nonsense it is. The menus are simple yet options are plentiful. This is a place where the old ladies are comfortable, yet at the same time you get school kids hanging out here after school - along with the fashionable twenty-somethings sipping their little coffees. They do a BBQ chicken melt in Panini; which is completely awesome. Why it's different from anywhere else I don't really know but when they melt that thing together it is true magic. Other than that, it's just a nice place to head to with a friend for a coffee - and there's not many places in the high street you can say that about.
