They ordered a lot of tapas plates. I admit, I was not familiar with many of the plates, they ordered, so I made the mistake of ordering the CHICKEN QUESADILLA.That was the only let down. They do serve beers on drought now. I had a very tasty pint, we all had either wine or beer, and were very pleased. Service was great. There were quite a few plates, but our server/s, managed to keep every thing in order without being intrusive. We kept the drinks coming and they were amazing at keeping us well hydrated : ) Hot, trendy place, that serves anyone with good food, and service. Definitely, try it!

Bar Estilo is a chain, albeit a small one. I've been to the Teddington branch a number of times…read more(I've also been to the Richmond branch), most recently on 31 October 2008, when all the staff were dressed for Halloween. Bar Estilo is one of those places which you enjoy, but don't enthuse over. The food is fusion Mediterranean/Iberian. There's tapas, salads, Paella, burgers, along with main courses such as fish cakes, and Tagines (for example). They also serve cocktails and wines. They have no beer on tap. The food is good, but not outstanding. There is a family atmosphere, especially early in the evening, though it does tend to attract a more adult crowd in the evening. The prices are reasonable (between £7 - £15 for a main course), but again, not notably frugal (nor, for that matter, notably expensive). What IS notable is that the espresso martini is to die for (yum). Because of all the hard surfaces, it can get very loud in there, especially when it's busy (as it was on Halloween Friday). The staff are friendly and reasonable efficient. I wouldn't rave about Bar Estilo, but I would recommend it.

For the discerning reader, please know that I'm a cafe sort of guy. An academic from the early 90s…read moreonward, like many scholars, I have spent more hours of my life in cafes than almost anywhere else. I long to find the perfect spot, where the bakery items, food, coffee, espresso, setting, friendliness of the staff, everything come together. Trust me when I say that this is the real deal. R & H Cafe is my favorite cafe in the world, maybe tied slightly with a great place on Rue de Abbesses in Paris, called Cuillier. I have eaten there about six times in the last two weeks. I can tell you that the people working here are some of the nicest cafe owners I've ever met. The baked goods are made fresh weekly and offer some of the most unique and interesting recipes I've encountered in cafe. I highly suggest their moist and decadent banana bread. Even I'm not sure how banana bread gets that delicious. Hopefully, when you get there, they will have the carrot cake loaf, which is completely unlike American carrot cake (thank goodness). The R & H version lacks raisins and nuts baked into the load. Instead, it has a light frosting that hints of maple, and then has black sesame seeds on top with a few walnuts. The taste is exotic. Second, I highly suggest the Apricot Pistachio cake. I don't normally like dried fruits and nuts in my dessert and this may be one of the best items I've eaten in my London travels. The raisin cookie is surprisingly great, considering I do not even like raisins. And that should really tell you something: I don't like dried fruits in bread and order theirs. I don't like raisins but order their raisin cookie. My point being that this place does everything so well that I trust them. I want to see what amazing things they do with ingredients. If they have fresh made saffron bundt cakes: order one. Pair it with either their great Nude espresso or cappuccinos. Oh, and as if all of this wasn't enough: they make incredible savory egg dishes! I had the one with pinto beans in a Persian spicy sauce. Blew me away how great it was. They have a fantastic, small gallery upstairs. And if you live in the area, they seem to also have prefix menu nights when they cook dinners. I didn't have one of their dinners, but I know wine enough to see that the bottles they have up on the wall are very thoughtfully considered. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place, the ladies who work there, the cuteness of the ambiance, the fantastic Iranian and Sufi music they play, and more than anything else: the baked goods and espresso drinks.

An amazing exploration of the senses especially that of taste. Experienced our first supper club…read moredinner at R&H after only being here a week. The family style atmosphere was welcoming as diners arrived from a variety of backgrounds in what was to be an experience of Persian delights. Normally we visit R&H for coffee and breakfast which in itself is amazing. This time it was for a monthly supper club. Not knowing what to expect we enjoyed a bottle of wine from South Africa and an amazing first course made from yoghurt and spinach along with tasty cheese, olives, walnuts, bread and an authentic Iranian drink - fantastic. Then a traditional soup with lentil and pasta which I took great joy in as I dipped my Iranian bread into the bowl. Then came the rice frittata and Salmon made to perfection. Finally fig cake (and special for me a poached beetroot with nuts). All topped off with great coffee. Wow and amazing are too simple a set of adjectives to describe the meal, experience and our hosts Zara and Mahren! So come to Richmond and to R&H and grab a coffee and a great meal. Then come to the next R&H supper club and prepare to enjoy one of London's best culinary gems!

"A night to remember" Tuesday April 24th…read more Called in to grab a bite on the way to the pub to watch the Chelsea Barça game. First impressions ... watch out for the faux entrance! Once you find your way in, get a table down the very far end to the right as you enter. There are a couple of tables down there that overlook the river, great view. If you and your boo are looking for a little segregation/privacy then ask for a booth as they also have a few of those scattered about the spot. Very cosy. Take note, noise levels can get high in here dependent upon how many flocks of twittering female pairs are in. Hey don't get your feminist on, you know it happens and when i arrived I was seated close to 4 pairs who were creating a decibel tsunami !! The decor is a bit all over the place but interesting as it seems the brief is 'Mediterranean' but i think the interior designers may have been smoking something when they set out the design. I have a feeling they may have also laid down the house muzak as we tripped between Steely Dan all the way across the spectrum to Robert Miles with some mainstream inbetween. I actually enjoyed the randomness of it all and the volume of the music kind of cancelled out the twittering sound waves. What did i eat ...? Duck & Cucumber & Spring Onion wrap - sans the Spring Onion? I can understand when a place fills out the wrap with salad/veg and skimps on the meat but these things were chokka with Duck meat and a few bits of Cucumber but i found not one morsel of Spring Onion!! Spicy Meatballs with Spanish Rice - spicy indeed but not the kind of spicy that goes to the back of the throat or returns from the pit of your stomach. This was a roof of the mouth heat and may be a bit too fiery for the more genteel palates amongst you. I enjoyed it and soothed it by gargling beer. What did I drink..? Waiter; "What would you like to drink sir?" me; "Staropramen please" Waiter; "Sorry Sir, we don't have" me; "Hoegaarden?" Waiter; "Sorry Sir, we don't have that either" me; "Czech Budvar" Waiter; "Sorry Sir" me; "so if you don't have them why are they present on the Drinks menu? Waiter; "Erm....." me; "any possibility of a Peroni ?" Waiter; "We have!" This is the kind of place that would suit all/every kind of people but i get the feeling that as it fills up the service will suffer but, from a price point, £16 for 2 courses and a beer served in an affable spot with a view of the river in Richmond on Thames then Estilo is a 'miracle' find. btw Parking is nowhere to be seen round here, be prepared to get your feet on the ground and hoof it. This was a solid 3* until the debacle of the savaged beer choice (which took half a star off) resulting in a 2.5* and (as we only ever round down) leaves us at 2* Hey! Didn't you say at the beginning of this review "A night to remember"? Yes I did and if you didn't see Chelsea pull off a result at the Camp Nou then you missed a slice of history pie right there. Wow ....Two miracles in one night!

Come here for the relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices. Good for a chain but this is definately what it feels like- not an individual restaurant with a free and adventurous chef thats for sure. So for that reason its ok- good at what it does- but not special.
