I'm not entirely sure how or why it is that I come in here so infrequently but it's somewhere that just doesn't leap out and grab my attention for some reason.
That said there is nothing wrong with it at all. It does have a unique vibe to the place and sits somewhere in the no man's land between a traditional greasy spoon café and a modern coffee house.
The food is decent and although I wouldn't describe it as absolutely class leading I would highly doubt anyone would find much to complain about either. That said, I do find that the process across the board are on the high side. If I'm paying £7.25 or so for a warm chicken caesar salad then I would expect a decent portion/very high quality at least but really both in reality. For me it just wasn't there. The portion was smaller than I would expect and it just wasn't as nice either for this price.
There may be other things on the menu offering better value, the Metz fry springs to mind. Most things on the menu come in at over £7 plus what you will then pay for coffee/tea/drinks.
Finally the staff although on paper ticking all the boxes of pleasantry and courtesy didn't seem over enthusiastic or particularly warm.
All in all I wouldn't go too far out of my way, but if I was passing or with a group that wanted to go in I'd be happy to be here for what was a decent enough place with a nice relaxed ambience. read more
