Located in the main street of Kanmantoo. the resturaunt has good atmosphere, along with a friendly owner who is very attentive to your needs. Wine was well priced and main dishes were well presented and delicious. We had the scallopini and italian suausge dish. Only reason it was not 5 stars is that when we asked the server what was good she did not mention the specials, which after she had taken our order we found and would of ordered We'll be back to try again

It sounds like a destination experience, but last time I was there it was a wet and dreary Sunday lunch and I couldn't wait to rush into the small restaurant and thaw out. Due to a mis-assumption on my part I thought I was in for a fine dining experience, instead what met me at Osteria Sanso was a welcoming and rustic Italian Trattoria. The furnishings were a little kitch but comfortable and the place had a homely, much loved feeling to it. The food was really oldschool. Not really the kind of stuff I'm used to , but yoou couldn't deny it was good. Was it great? No... but would I go Back, YES, yes, yes. The place was unexpected in every way, its location no exception but what a great experience for a daytrip. Before you go rushing here from Adelaide... keep in mind that it's a least 50 ks away from the city. You better make sure your designated driver is committed to those lemon lime and bitters over lunch.

Note - reservation is a must as they only open for Sunday lunch and you need only advise of any special dietary requirements and allow up to 4 hours of pure, authentic Italian hospitality! Upon arriving at your destination it does not look like a typical public restaurant, it simply looks like somebody's house, hence its aptly named business 'Our Place.' But after you park at the back and enter at the rear, the rustic, old world charm of the venue makes you feel like you are stepping into another world where you can enjoy the finer things in life, take things slow and unwind. Arrival was at 12pm, there is a 30-45 minute grace period to allow everyone to arrive, be seated and take your drinks outside to take in the stunning views overlooking green rolling hills and the beaches looking out South. The dining experience was warm and intriguing, one of the waitress is the daughter of the Clappis family and she happily explains each dish that is presented to us with enthusiasm. I love the little flourishes, dads bringing around a basket of freshly baked bread for us to admire but its sliced up and eaten still warm. Their daughter introduces each dish with a personal note on the side, such as here is dad's risotto and nonna's cannelloni. Each dish was delicious and wholesome - and over a 3-4 hour long lunch there were many. But shared between everyone, you get to taste everything so I didn't feel uncomfortably full. Just the right amount for a taste and to savour the moment. I cannot fault this experience and for $60 per head, it was worth every dollar and the drive. Everyone local and abroad must try this real Italian family experience. No need to order just make a reservation, loosen your belt buckle and be prepared to be fed for 3-4 hours!

Partner raved about his foccaccia - prepared with similar quality and expertise. It was our 27th anniversary lunch and how happy it made us. It was so lovely, we went back with a friend and, insanely busy though it was, it did not disappoint. A nice service touch was the manager warning us of delay...good manners, I thought. Filled the wait time nicely with a G&T,

Gepetto's has been open for a while and I have now been a couple of times - first time was with a mid-sized group for dinner with a couple of young kids, and the second was just me and the missus on a summer lunch date. I've been pretty happy with the overall Gepetto's experience to date. The first time we had dinner here the service left a little to be desired but seeing green young waiters learning the ropes and making a few boo-boos along the way is an encouraging sign that they're willing to learn and brave enough to make a few mistakes. You can't hold that against them! The guy running the show (presumably the owner) has control of the musical selection run from his old school vinyl player. First time we were there he was playing a few choice old movie soundtrack records. The second time was less memorable re: the nature of the tracks but it was old and it still created a highly enjoyable atmosphere. Credit for the vintage vinyl vibe. The best part is the food. Authentic, perfectly cooked Italian food. Bang on for quality and range. The price is on the higher side but worth it. There are outdoor tables for that awesome sunny day in Hahndorf experience (FYI it's always a little cooler in Hahndorf so maybe pack a jumper if you're climate sensitive) but the indoors is also well climatised. Desserts on offer were enjoyed by all (including myself which is odd because I'm not usually a sweets kind of guy - hard to say no to a tiramisu) It can seem a little crowded inside too but it's a negligible aspect of an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.
