But I will get some more, oh yes, I shall. My friend bought enough chocolate to sink a battleship, proclaiming that making a decision was hard, so one of just about everything was a better idea. We were both impressed with the service and the prices, the staff were friendly, and most wonderful of all, thanks to the time of day we visited, we were the only ones in the shop! Other people turned up when we left, so I think we did very well indeed. Melba's is an Adelaide institution, and with very good reason.

The service was great and we were welcomed to the winery like we were family. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful view as well as getting to watch our pizzas being made fresh in an epic wood oven. Not your standard pizza toppings but they were very yummy - we had the marinated lamb and smashing pumpkin! The pizzas were delicious and it would be remiss of me to mention that the wine was delightful. I'd suggest booking, it got pretty busy pretty fast.

I had the beef pie for $14, which came with a small salad (no dressing though) and fries. You could tell the pie was homemade and not coming from a freezer. Very tasty and in terms of size I think the dishes are alright for the prices they charge. One thing that bothered me very much though is that the waitress came clearing the plates of the 3 people that were with me while I was still eating. Further more all the toys are made of wood, which actually makes then stronger, and more durable, than their plastic counter-parts. They may not be cheap, but they certainly last, to the point that you could end up handing them down to your great-grandchildren (if you end up having any that is). The other thing about this place is that there is an animal sanctuary here, with peacocks. All I can say is that peacocks are cool (though don't take their feathers - they don't like that, though if they are lying on the ground you can take them, but still have to pay for the privilege).

They specialise also in pretzels if you have a savoury hankering for a German style snack. Otherwise they do the best beesting I've had just about anywhere. Vanilla slice fans be warned - The Lobethal bakery does just about the best one you can imagine. The real joy of it lies in the crispy, thin pastry which actually allows you to bite into the sweet treat. The icing is also nice and thin, with a deliciously creamy vanilla custard in the centre.
