I have had the wonderful fortune of being able to visit Paris twice in the last few years and for a…read morecity that didn't even make it to my top 20 places to visit in my lifetime, it is an incredible metropolis that you should really consider passing through, at least for a week. The culture and history are amazing (which are givens) but what will totally knock you off your feet is the food. People will tell you that but it will still shock you when you put a pastry or a bite of a galette (of the sort from the Brittany region) in your mouth. Okay, all of that is to say that while there are great things to experience in Paris, you will find that service is not exactly what one would call friendly or hospitable. I get it, I'm an American and Yanks are entitled and pompous. I totally understand that and I know that no matter how much I jump up and down, shouting to you that I'm not that way (especially since I'm the child of immigrant parents of an extremely humble background), you will remain skeptical. That's okay. I have come to understand that Parisians are not what we here in the States would consider exactly "warm." But I accept the cultural difference and am more than happy when I can have a cordial exchange with business owners/managers and their employees. I don't speak French, but I learned the obligatory "Parlez-vous anglais?" in deference to the country's official language. I heard the cashier speak English to the customer in front of me but when it was my turn, both she and the manager on shift looked at me blankly so I politely (and timidly) asked my question. The man acted indifferently and said flatly, "A little." So I ordered my cappuccino, feeling embarrassed. I paid and left. I understand that Parisians are tired of Americans and their expectation that everyone speaks English (I have witnessed this and know it to be generally true) but when your customer tries to communicate with you and your place of business is in an international airport (8th busiest in the world in passenger traffic, at that), you would think you could be a bit more understanding. I won't change the world or this place with my review, but there you have my two cents. Oh, and the cappuccino was quite good.

I asked the staff if they could add a bit more soup or sauce, and they kindly did, which improved the dish. The menu mentions cashews, and the idea of combining everything together sounds great in theory. However, there were only about 3-5 cashews in the dish, which didn't really balance the pasta as expected. I would recommend using fewer pasta portions and adding more cashews and sauce to improve the flavor and texture. Overall, the service was good and the staff were accommodating. The menu itself has good ideas, but I think the restaurant could focus more on quality and balance rather than quantity. Considering the price point, I personally wouldn't recommend it right now, though I believe they have the potential to do better.

Salads are packaged in these clear, thick plastic boxes that make them look like gemstones. The food is a bit pricey, but it is worth it compared to the other food options around (the other food looked like it would give you a case of no. 3!!!). Everything is luxurious down to their super heavyweight napkins and plastic cutlery that looks like it's real metal. Sometimes it's worth to splurge for a memorable and enjoyable last meal. :)

I called in Espressamente before catching my flight at Paris CDG Airport, with it being one of the…read moreonly places to go for a coffee, especially with Starbucks seeming to have shut in the terminal, and sadly there being nothing there in Terminal 2e for food and drink, which will be explained in another, totally separate review which will hopefully be published later today. Espressamente is a cafe owned by the Illy brand, I've never seen them operate cafes like this before, but they have seemed to be a popular brand in countries I have visited recently, especially in Italy, which was the country Illy was founded in back in 1933. This cafe probably isn't a nice place to go and I would recommend to avoid it if you can, for many reasons which I will explain throughout this review, the first being a lack of seating. This is basically a pop-up store, airside to grab a coffee before going to your gate, but still there really isn't a lot of seating and with so few options, it does get busy quick, meaning you could be forced to sit on a high table, or move across the way to sit with no table at all, infront of a screen which broadcasts sports matches, which isn't the best option if you want a table, and to relax abit over your coffee, and perhaps get some work done. The second flaw is the service, like many places in an airport, this place gets too busy which could mean long queues, and the small menus and pricing don't seem to help, the staff didn't seem too friendly or helpful and more rude and rushed which was a shame, which sadly seems to be typical of airports with a few exceptions such as when I visited Liverpool Airport's Airside Starbucks back when I visited Madrid in 2014. Another flaw was the main thing, the coffee, it cost around 4-5 euros, perhaps slightly more as I recall and it was just very poor, it wasn't good quality coffee, and for the price, you got a ridiculously small portion of it, and it was basically the size of the drink, I later got given for free with Air France, which was a much nicer coffee or even the size of what you would get from a free sample at Costco. Due to few other options, I would normally give this place 2 stars but I feel it is an insult to coffee lovers and people who want to relax over a beverage and it hasn't done enough to deserve that, so sadly I feel this place warrants a single one star.

Yes, I agree with the first reviewer that this place is pricy but I will tell you that I was…read moredisappointed that I missed it the last time I flew out of CDG. You see, Espressamente was the place that made me like coffee. I had a Marocchino Caldo in 2011 as I was awaiting my plane to fly home to Atlanta. I was dead tired and hoped that a caffeine boost would make the time go by faster. It didn't (caffeine does not have the effect of waking me up) but it tasted so damn good. It may seem trivial to many, but this drink made me discover how good coffee could be. The drink had a true flavor of coffee without being bitter, the way I had drank it before. Since then, I have discovered more things to drink and maybe it took some hot chocolate in my java to make me appreciate it, but hey, it worked! This is an Illy coffee bar, with Illy probably being my favorite commercial brand for coffee. I would get it more frequently were it not so expensive. If you are in terminal 2E, stop by.
