Unfortunately, the answer was no because time would not allow it. Did not even go inside. :( They said that our stay in Oslo needs to be longer next time. Apparently, there are a few guided tours to choose from for exploring the National Theater and learning more about its history. I think it was built in 1899. It is a stunning tourist attraction. The outside of this building is simply lovely. The fountain close by is quite wonderful also. Maybe one day we will go inside. Our friends say that you cannot truly appreciate it til you walk in there.

The architecture is outstanding, and the opportunity to walk on the roof makes the visit even more special. The surrounding area is beautifully landscaped and offers many excellent spots for relaxing and taking photographs. The building feels impressive and monumental while still maintaining an elegant appearance. Even without attending a performance, it is well worth visiting to experience the atmosphere of one of Oslo's most iconic landmarks. Operataket Observation Deck - The free observation deck on the roof of the Opera House is, in my opinion, one of the places that nobody should miss when visiting Oslo. The climb is easy and the reward is a stunning panoramic view of the city, the fjord and the harbour area. I especially liked that the roof is freely accessible and provides plenty of space for walking, relaxing and taking photographs. The combination of the building's modern architecture and the surrounding scenery creates a truly unique experience.

In this special and free event we were shown around the various hidden rooms. On the second floor there is a room that has a bar, in this case it was part of the show. And downstairs there is also a hidden little room which was part of the play that looked more like a hangout area. The main theatre is quite small, one of the smallest theatres I have been to. But it has a character with its old decor and feeling to it. The acoustics are quite good. The actors with no microphones were heard very clearly. However the sight was a bit worse. If you have a fairly tall person sitting in front of you, you might have some issues having a clear view of the whole stage. Recommend it to everyone! Especially on events like this.

If you cannot follow Norwegian, it's best to wait and keep an eye out for international guest performers, where they switch their shows into English. The shows are improv - that is, getting suggestions from the audience to act out great scenes. They run different sets during the week, e.g. on wednesdays "Micetro" is an improv duel between 12 players; on fridays "Murder She Improvised" is a long-form storytelling of a murder mystery - all improvised. There were instruments that…read morethe audience and the musicians just couldn't hear and even the microphones were incredibly low. The band members got really frustrated and so did I and the people I were with. They kept signaling to the sound table and even brought someone on stage, who just made sure to look superior and dismissive. Very bad attitude. And nothing changed. If the place doesn't have the structure to host a concert with a band of that size, then it should not. Having a band come from another country to play a frustrating concert is a huge shame.

Last time I came here was in October, and I saw Singing in the Rain (absolutely fantastic by the way). We saw a 7pm show on a Thursday and did not experience any of the complaints I see my fellow yelpers having (standing in line to get in ect). I was actually happy to see that they had a mandatory coat check, although I felt it was unnecessary to charge us 30NOK per jacket. If it is mandatory it should be free, at least that is my opinion. Either way, the price was not to bad, it was just annoying to pay. Other than that "checking in" was no problem if you show up 30minutes prior to the show as your ticket calls for. Once inside there is a few bars where you can get snacks and drinks. Personally I did not find the prices to appalling. 480NOK for a bottle of bubbles is just as much as any other bar in town. What pleasantly surprised me was that we could bring our wine and snacks into the theatre, and we even got a cure little icebag for our wine. It is safe to say I had an excellent time drinking, eating popcorn and watching a fun musical! Also during the Singing in the Rain show (not sure if all shows allow this) we were able to take pictures. There was even a little instagram competition going on. Love - love - love that they keep it young and let people take pictures. I was just so mesmerized by the show that I completely forgot to take out my phone, but it honestly did't even bother me that other people had their phone out, at first I thought it would, but it really didn't. Great theatre down town Oslo!
