We were killing some time before our excursion and saw L'Orizzonte. What drew me in was their popsicles and sorbet; they had every imaginable flavor but what stood out to me was their watermelon flavored sorbet! Of course I had to try it and it was refreshing and delicious. But the winner for me was their Kinder chocolate gelato. Amongst the sea of dark chocolate, chocolate, bacio, stracietella, mint, pistachio etc the Kinder gelato stood out and and i had to try it. For those of you who grew up with Kinder chocolate and have a soft spot for it, it was swirled in with vanilla and was making me sentimental.... The gelato was creamy, dense and oh so good. If wasn't too sweet which was perfect for me.

The first time was early in the morning, and I really felt like a local (minus the Italian). My cappuccino was perfect, the wi-fi was great, the staff was friendly. We sat inside, and when the hubby went to the water closet, a couple sat down beside me with a cute little dog and started speaking to me--in Italian. I just smiled. Absolutely a perfect morning cup of coffee on this trip. (5 stars) The second time here, about ten days later, we stopped much later in the day. Since the inside was bloody hot, we found a table outside but the waitress never came by. She did stop by the table next to us to take an order from a couple who sat down after we had. I wasn't desperate for a coffee, so decided to get up and see what else we could find. Two hours later, we were back and even though it was stifling hot inside, we sat on a couch inside and ordered from the counter. The price was higher this time by one Euro each for exact same drink. Maybe they had a price increase in the last ten days or a price hike happens later in the day. Not sure, but the coffee was very good and the wi-fi worked. (3 stars) My suggest is to get here early with the locals before the rest of the cruise ship wakes up (be on the first shuttle bus to town). You'll get better service and a cheaper espresso drink! You can either sit outside and wait for a server to take your order or you can mosey up to the counter and, using your best Italian, order a cappuccino or an espresso and, if you can fool the staff into believing you are Italian, the price you pay will be less than if they know you are a cruise ship tourist. As we visited this place twice, we paid different amounts for our cappuccinos on both visits. The first time we might have been mistaken for locals but the second time we were treated like tourists. Both times, the cappuccinos were excellent but the price differed by two euros on the second visit. If you sit inside, there is no air conditioning but the wi-fi reception is very good. If you stand outside, the wi-fi reception is mostly good. If you stand across the alley, you then have to use McDonald's wi-fi. The bathrooms are clean, upstairs and free, if you buy something. The waitstaff are very capable and efficient.
