Wandering the streets of Paris ai came upon this café. The friendly staff invited me in. My French is slow but treated so kindly. The atmosphere is everything one could desire in a French restaurant. The music. The staff. The cuisine all wonderful. People from all over here eating, drinking, talking in friendly tones. Families welcome. Single travelers. Had several meals here over the last few days. We found the food to be fresh and flavorful, including wonderful homemade desserts. My travel companion, a wine connoisseur, was quite pleased with the selection. Great location for people watching. The best part, though, was the very friendly and helpful staff, who made us feel welcome and happily explained the French menu. This would be my neighborhood go-to if I lived here. read more

Wonderful place for the quintessential Parisian cafe experience. Lots of people chatting and enjoying a coffee or beer on the patio. The salads were fantastic and so large we had to take half home. The server was a joyful spirit who lightened our day with great service, warmth and good humor. And she spoke English which helped us place the order. Overall, tres bien! read more

The owner is a PSYCHOPATH. Stay away from this "establishment". The food is completely inedible. Literally INEDIBLE. That is a good enough reason not to ever come here. We ordered duck and what came out was certainly NOT DUCK. He laughed at us like a child and said it was "normal" and "fine" and walked away from us while we were talking to him. Had to get the waiter to get him again for us. We wanted to pay for our wine and service. He said we ate the food but there was clearly only a few bites taken (my friend's chewed up meat that she couldn't swallow was sitting there in plain sight). We said we didn't eat it, we COULDNT and this man CALLED THE POLICE. Yes he called the police because we said we couldn't eat his food. He filmed us sitting at the table with his iPhone and other customers filmed in disbelief when the police actually came. We never even left the table. We were just telling the guy that we couldn't even swallow the food. We paid for this "meal" and the owner LAUGHED at us on our way out. BAD PERSON. BAD FOOD. Not particularly exciting place. Have tried breakfast (the French version which is basically a croissant/white bread, tea/coffee and orange juice) and lunch, and while not overpriced, you get what you pay for. Service is usually friendly, though. Guests seem to be a medley of tourists, locals and the occasional nutter. Ok for people-watching as it faces the busy square of Menilmontant. They don't have wi-fi, but McDonalds is just on the other side of the street, so you can usually pick up theirs. read more
