Located between Chapala and Ajijic, this establishment is mainly a coffee and breakfast speciality restaurant. Cafe Negro tailors to expats and locals. Upon entering this morning, my partner, his family, our friends and I were greeted by the staff and one of the family owned members, Thomas. Their menu offers more than the common fare for breakfast and changes daily. Started out with some coffee as well as their coconut green and cantaloupe yogurt smoothies. We ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes with 2 eggs and fruits, Jazmin Rice Waffles with eggs bacon and fruits, Breakfast burrito with pesto potatoes, Open Face Omelette with lemon dill cream cheese, smoked salmon and grilled asparagus, Omelette with onions, mushrooms and tomatoes with pesto potatoes, and blackberry muffin. The food was excellent as the chef is obviously highly experienced in the culinary arts. The service was great in a relaxing atmosphere which we can highly recommend.

This was the first restaurant I visited during my stay in Ajijic, and I was blown away! I never expected Mexico to have such amazing food! The creativity that went into this menu was stunning. The food was excellent, and the servers speak English and there is outdoor seating. If I was going to recommend one restaurant in the Ajijic area this would be the one not to miss! It's very near Walmart too.

Polenta soufflé with veggies, eggs and bacon. YUM!

This is the best coffee place that I hace found south of Guadalajara. I had been struggling to…read morefind a cafe in Chapala where I live, that is conducive for working. There are just 2 cafes in Chapala, but they are definitely not set up for people to stay a while. And their Internet just sucks! So I traveled all the way over here with the hopes of finding a better place. It's my first time here, and after just 10 minutes, I think that I have found that place. Firstly the cafe is expansive, with plenty of tables and very comfortable chairs for people to sit. Here there are real outlets to plug in your laptop, and really great WiFi so far. I really needed to find a place like this where I can get stuff done, as well as, enjoy a frapuchino and chocolate muffin. The caramel frapuchino that I ordered was around $70 and it's the centi size, quite delicious. We'll see how long this frappuchino takes me, because I usually try to work 8 - 10 hours.

Our adopted home town, Bellingham WA, has coffee offering ranging from standard to artisan. Cafe Grano Cafe (I know, is it "Coffee Grain Cafe" or is it ""Cafe Coffee Grain" - languages are funny) is as fine an artisan coffee house as I've experienced. Delicious mochas and lattes with fine coffee art, tasty pastries and cakes, and bins of in house roasted coffees to take home for tomorrow. A fellow northwesterner here reviewed the service critically. It wasn't "American standard" for us either, but we came here to chill, and the cadence was fine to us. Accidentally missing an order can happen anywhere and it's always discomforting. Ours was handled nicely and we left delighted and refreshed.
